St Stephen's Green is a city centre public park in Dublin. The park is adjacent to one of Dublin's main shopping streets, Grafton Street, and to a shopping centre named for it, while on its surrounding streets are the offices of a number of public bodies and the city terminus of one of Dublin's Luas tram lines. It is often informally called Stephen's Green. At 22 acres (89,000 m2), it is the largest of the parks in Dublin's main Georgian squares. Others include nearby Merrion Square and Fitzwilliam Square. Phoenix Park is the largest park in Dublin city, but is not in a Georgian square.
The park is rectangular, surrounded by streets that once formed major traffic arteries through Dublin city centre, although traffic management changes implemented in 2004 during the course of the Luas works have greatly reduced the volume of traffic. These four bordering streets are called, respectively, St Stephen's Green North, St Stephen's Green South, St Stephen's Green East and St Stephen's Green West.

En el marco de la reunión para el cumplimiento de los compromisos derivados de la 12° del GORE Ejecutivo, el viceministro de Mype e Industria, José Salardi, señaló que el gobierno, a través del Ministerio de la Producción (Produce), impulsará el desarrollo de las cadenas productivas de pesca, acuicultura, agroindustria y forestal en Loreto, a través de un trabajo articulado con las autoridades regionales.
En ese sentido, indicó que la reunión de los equipos técnicos de su sector y del gobierno regional, ha dado como resultado una serie de acuerdos que contribuirán para que Loreto se convierta en una región productiva en base a sus potencialidades. "Hemos identificado que estamos muy alineados en muchas intervenciones, incluso en aquellas que ya tenemos en camino", destacó.
Al respecto, Salardi precisó que al cierre del primer semestre estarán implementados al 100 % el CITE Forestal y el CITE Productivo Maynas. "Es una inversión de 22 millones de soles que ha realizado Produce a través del ITP. Con lo cual se ha puesto en valor estas infraestructuras importantes, para poder dar todo apoyo y soporte a las cadenas productivas de pesca, acuicultura y agroindustrias".
Manifestó que para el presente año proyectan prestar un mínimo de 1200 servicios de innovación y transferencia tecnológica, que ayudará a fortalecer las capacidades e innovar a las diferentes industrias de esta región.
Asimismo, informó que otros de los compromisos es la pronta apertura del Centro de Desarrollo Empresarial del programa “Tu Empresa”, para promover la formalización de 400 nuevas unidades de negocio.
De otro lado, Salardi indicó que el sector espera cerrar el año inaugurando el Gran Mercado de Belén. "Se está avanzando a un nivel importante. El proyecto está a más de 50% de ejecución y en el presupuesto de este año se han incluido 50 millones de soles para su culminación", apuntó.
Acciones en pesca y acuicultura
De otro lado, el viceministro Salardi informó que, a través del FONDEPES, Produce iniciará la construcción del primer desembarcadero pesquero artesanal de la Amazonia “La Punchana”, para lo cual se ha destinado una inversión de hasta S/ 22 000 000.
Asimismo, este fondo realizará un proyecto piloto para la implementación de aislamiento térmico en embarcaciones pesqueras artesanales para el adecuado transporte de los productos hidrobiológicos. "Con esta actividad, se espera incrementar los fondos para créditos destinados a los pescadores artesanales y acuicultores de la región hasta por un valor de S/ 250 000", destacó.
Otro de los acuerdos es la implementación de mejoras en los servicios del Centro Acuícola Nuevo Horizonte, por un valor de hasta S/ 14 000 000, con ello se mejorarán los servicios de producción y distribución de alevinos para la ampliación de la frontera acuícola, así como la capacitación operativa especializada a los productores de la Región.
Mercado de Putumayo
Más tarde, el viceministro Salardi hizo entrega oficial al alcalde provincial de Putumayo, Humberto Fuentes, del expediente técnico aprobado para la ejecución del proyecto "Mejoramiento del Mercado Municipal de la Ciudad de San Antonio del Estrecho".
Esta importante acción del gobierno en una ciudad de frontera con Colombia, cuenta con una inversión de más de 4 millones de soles y beneficiará a más de 3000 habitantes.
Las obras se realizarán en un terreno de 1410 m2, donde se implementarán 40 puestos de comercio, con una moderna infraestructura e innovaciones que garantizarán la alta calidad de los productos.
Si bien Viña del Mar es el principal balneario del país y sus costas permiten realizar múltiples deportes acuáticos, cuando acaba la temporada veraniega el clima no acompaña a los habitantes de la región para seguir realizando estas actividades; por esta razón, es que Virginia Reginato por medio de su gestión municipal y a través de la Casa del Deporte, implementaron una piscina temperada con talleres para que todos tengan acceso a continuar disfrutando de las disciplinas relacionadas con el agua.
Una de éstas, es la natación orientada a adultos, que forma parte de nuestro programa “Activados” y se desarrolla en la piscina del complejo municipal de Reñaca Alto. La disciplina, está dividida por niveles de aprendizaje, y uno de ellos se encuentra a cargo de la profesora Militza Fibla, quien cada martes y jueves de 19:00 a 20:00 hrs. pone a practicar el deporte a los adultos viñamarinos interesados en ejercitarse en el agua a pesar de las frías temperaturas del ambiente exterior.

A training of trainers of a South Sudan’s soon-to-be unified army concluded today, 4 October, with a graduation ceremony at the Military Training Centre in Luri near Juba.
The event marks a significant step forward for the implementation of the country’s revitalized peace agreement, signed in September last year.
Lieutenant General Shailesh Tinaikar, Force Commander of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, described the project of training the nation’s unified forces as one with “tremendous implications for national integrity and security”. He called the graduating instructors “pioneers” with a “huge responsibility” to carry after having received just ten days of training.
“Whatever you do, however you act, is going to affect the soldiers who you train, so I implore you to be conscious of your actions, because you set the trend of the forces of South Sudan,” the Force Commander said.
Lieutenant General Tinaikar also stressed the importance of looking forward rather than backward.
“You have to forget your past, from where you come and your past affiliations, to work together for your young nation, for the state of South Sudan,” he said, reiterating his faith in the diligence and capacity of the instructors to train the unified forces properly.
A lack of qualified trainers has been slowing down the capacity building of units of the united armed forces in 35 cantonment sites across the country, making the readiness of instructors such a vital sign of progress.
To enable the establishment of a Transitional Government of National Unity on 12 November, the few hundred graduates will need to capacitate some 83,000 soldiers, the troops being merged from the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition.

Sales invoice issued by W. Summerscales & Sons Ltd. (mangle and agricultural implement manufacturers) of Coney Lane Works and Phoenix Foundry, Keighley, on 4th May 1893.
Summerscales was founded by William Summerscales in 1850. He set up the firm to make laundry mangles at Coney Lane Mills in Keighley. The company traded as W. Summerscales and Sons (later W. Summerscales and Sons Ltd.) and as W. & S. Summerscales' Sons. The product range expanded to include wringing and mangling machines, washing and disinfecting machines, agricultural implements, garden furniture, grass pitch rollers, treadle driven sewing machines, fruit and vegetable pulpers and cutters (including a turnip fingerer!), chaff cutters, wash-house fittings, dairy machinery, carpet beaters, and steam cooking apparatus. They expanded to include the Phoenix Foundry in Keighley before moving to Parkside Works on Parkwood Street. The company finally ceased trading in 1973. Materials Including directors' minutes, private ledgers, sales ledgers, cash books, wage books, stock books 1949-1966, accounts and advertising material are held as part of the West Yorkshire Archive Service in Bradford.
A scan of the original document was donated to Keighley and District Local History Society by Keith Spencer in May 2006. Printouts of these original scans are retained in the History Society's physical archive. The printouts were rescanned by Billy Stride in 2021.
Because a bank's exact need for liquidity is difficult to know in real time, depositors have incomplete information about its ability to survive a run. The incomplete information means that a bank is not automatically incentivized to hold enough liquid assets to survive runs. “Transport Decarbonisation: Driving Implementation” project members meeting at the ITF in Paris, France, to help identify ways to cut CO₂ emissions in three hard-to-decarbonise areas of transport: aviation, shipping and heavy-duty road freight. How Honduras managed to carry out genomic sequencing for the first time

When microbiologist Soany Ávilez was selected to implement the genomic sequencing of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in Honduras, she was amazed. In the wake of the pandemic, Soany had started working at the National Virology Laboratory in 2020 performing PCR tests. At that time, genomic sequencing to detect circulating variants of the virus that causes COVID-19 was carried out outside the country. But a project to provide Honduras with the capabilities to do it in situ and obtain faster results was being developed with technical support from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and financial support from the United States Government.
Although she lacked knowledge on the subject, Soany remembers that she longed for the opportunity to work in sequencing. "When they chose us (her and her partner Karla Romero) to implement sequencing in the country and move the area forward, I couldn't believe it," she says.
Genomic surveillance allows us to know the evolution of viruses and other pathogens as they change over time. Knowing those changes or mutations that can modify its transmissibility and severity, allows us to guide public health measures. During the pandemic, it was a key strategy to monitor the behavior of SARS-CoV-2 and a technique that is being integrated into the surveillance of other pathogens.
Karla Romero, the other microbiologist in charge of genomic surveillance, acknowledges that the implementation of sequencing in Honduras has been "a great challenge" that required a lot of "sacrifice and commitment" both inside and outside the laboratory.
The sequencing area had to be created from scratch. In 2022, the authorities selected and conditioned a space within the National Virology Laboratory. With the support of PAHO, a sequencer, supplies, reagents, and furniture were purchased, and Soany and Karla were trained in bioinformatics and genomic sequencing at the Gorgas Memorial Institute in Panama.
“All with the aim of strengthening the capacities for genomic surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 and other pathogens in Honduras,” says Gabriela Rodriguez Segura, coordinator of the PAHO Project for the Consolidation of Genomic Sequencing Capacities in Honduras. Before these capacities were created at the local level, samples to determine the variants circulating in the country were sent to the laboratories of the Regional Network for Genomic Surveillance of COVID-19 (COVIGEN) created by PAHO to support countries without capacity to carry out sequencing in its territory.
In March 2023, the effort paid off and excitement took over the National Virology Laboratory when, after several attempts, the first sequencing of SARS-COV-2 in the country was successfully carried out. “We couldn't believe it,” says Soany. "We feel very happy because it was a great challenge and the result made us feel fulfilled."
On March 21, 2023, the results were obtained and it was the first time that the XBB sublineage of the omicron variant was detected in the country and by Honduran health professionals. For Karla, the key was “not to give up in the face of the biggest challenge”.
"It is a milestone for the country that genomic sequencing is being carried out," says Dr. Mitzi Castro, head of the National Health Surveillance Laboratory of Honduras. “It is a historic moment because we are starting from here to carry out future genomic surveillance of other pathogens of sanitary interest to the country,” she adds.
According to Dr. Castro, the country now has state-of-the-art technology. "The laboratory is at the forefront, and that is a success and a source of pride, for which we thank all those who have contributed their bit so that Honduras is not left behind."
The Government of Azerbaijan, the US Agency for International Development and the UN Development Programme in Azerbaijan officially opened a Women Resource Center and a SYSLAB Employment Center in Masalli region of Azerbaijan on Thursday. These centers were established in the framework of the joint project on “Economic Empowerment for Enterpreneurship and Employment” which is implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population and the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs. Both centers are located in the Massali Haydar Aliyev Center and are supported by the Executive Authority of Masalli.
Opening the ceremony, the Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, Mr. Idris Isayev thanked the development partners on behalf of the Government of Azerbaijan for an initiative that will benefit both local communities and the whole region of the country.
Ms. Sadagat Gahramova, Deputy Chairperson of State Committee of Family, Women and Children Affairs, appreciated the continuation of supports provided to rural women to launch businesses of their dreams and expressed the readiness of the Committee for further collaboration.
UNDP Resident Representative, Mr. Ghulam M. Isaczai stressed the importance of women’s roles in socio-economic life and active youth participation for inclusive and sustainable development, especially in the rural areas of the country. “This partnership between the Government of Azerbaijan, USAID and UNDP helps women and youth improve their lives in a meaningful way by opening their own businesses, starting successful careers matching their aspirations, and by gaining control over their lives. This is equally important for both women and youth, who are often more vulnerable and susceptible to life’s challenges. By helping them, we are helping the future of this beautiful country.” Mr. Isaczai said in his speech.
Mr. Isaczai expressed his appreciation to the Head of Executive Authority of Masalli, Mr. Rafil Huseynov and the government partners for successful collaboration with the project team. “This event proves the stout commitment of all parties to one and the same mission, shared globally and locally – the Sustainable Development Goals.” he added
Mr. Carter Wilbur, Economic Chief at the U.S. Embassy emphasized that by advancing women’s participation in the economy, it contributes to a stronger society. “By improving the capability of Employment Centers in Masalli to provide work related training, we enhance the ability of women and youth in this community not just to work, but also to innovate, to develop, and to act on new ideas in business and the workplace.”
The delegation met with project participants to hear how they benefited from the project and awarded with certificates the women who have launched their business under the project and the youth who had already found a job during the project cycle. They later visited a newly established ASAN center and the ASAN Support to Family Business (ABAD) in Masalli.
The purpose of the joint project on “Economic Empowerment for Enterpreneurship and Employment” is to support economic empowerment for women’s entrepreneurship and youth employment through capacity-building activities at a Women’s Resource Center and Employment Centers (SYSLAB) in the region.

The Chairperson of the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission, JMEC says the greatest challenge facing the implementation of the peace agreement is inclusivity.
Speaking at the opening of a JMEC plenary meeting in Juba on 8 February 17, Festus Mogae said factions within the SPLM in opposition and inadequate representation of opposing voices in the peace process had undermined progress in the establishment of key institutions and mechanisms provided for in the peace agreement.
The JMEC chairperson also condemned continued fighting and reports of revenge killings, sexual violence and human rights abuses in parts of the country. Mogae said recent fighting around Malakal and in Renk of Upper Nile constitute a violation of the ceasefire agreement and said ceasefire monitors have opened investigations into the attacks.
Mogae also urged the swift deployment of the 4-thousand strong Regional Protection Force as approved by the UN Security Council to bolster security in Juba and its surrounding areas.

Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Sindh chapter has implemented another Clean Drinking Water Project (Submersible Water Pump) at Village Kerti of UC Bhakou, District Tharparkar. Around 28 families are expected to benefit from the project.
Santiago Taylor vive en Providencia desde que nació; antes del paso del huracán Iota se dedicaba a pescar, pero hoy convirtió su patio en un vivero comunitario de mangle rojo.
“El mangle me salvó la vida, el barco que usaba para pescar desapareció”, le comentó Taylor al ministro de Ambiente y Desarrollo Sostenible, Carlos Eduardo Correa, quien estuvo en la isla el pasado fin de semana haciendo seguimiento a las intervenciones que se realizan en el archipiélago mediante la Operación Cangrejo Negro.
En Providencia se han construido cuatro viveros en los que se han sembrado más de 7000 plántulas de mangle rojo y negro, pero también frutales como coco, tamarindo, grosella, cañafístula y mango, entre otras especies que empezaron a escasear en la isla.
La Corporación para el Desarrollo Sostenible del Archipiélago de San Andrés, Providencia y Santa Catalina (Coralina) y Parques Nacionales Naturales de Colombia han estado al frente de la construcción de viveros, mientras que el Instituto de Investigaciones Marinas y Costeras (Invemar) y el Instituto Humboldt han apoyado la consecución del material vegetal que se planta en estas fábricas de oxígeno.
“Hay esperanza”
“Tenemos 320 familias de Providencia que reciben hoy el incentivo de Pago por Servicios Ambientales que otorgamos desde el Ministerio de Ambiente, una figura que implementamos por primera vez para apoyar a las familias afectadas por el huracán Iota, y al mismo tiempo avanzar, de la mano de las mismas comunidades, en la recuperación de la isla. Es un proceso lento porque sembrar y reforestar son acciones que se deben hacer con rigor; además de que las plantas tienen su tiempo para crecer y estar en condiciones para ser trasplantadas en los ecosistemas que ya estamos recuperando. La isla hoy tiene otra cara y en los rostros de las personas hay esperanza”, explicó el ministro Correa.
Bernardo Bernard también ha vivido toda su vida en Providencia; es técnico en construcción pero se ha dedicado a ser guía turístico. Todos lo llaman Big Boy, por su estatura, y es de las personas que más conoce la isla. Hoy, tras el Iota, cambió su trabajo por el de restauración. “La isla necesita ser recuperada para que el turismo vuelva”, comentó durante la siembra de mangle que se hizo el fin de semana junto al ministro de Ambiente.
15 hectáreas
El ministro Correa constató el estado de los viveros que se han habilitado y el inicio de la reforestación en el Parque Nacional Natural Providence Old McBean Lagoon, donde hay 11 parcelas en las que se empezaron a restaurar 15 hectáreas con la siembra de mangle rojo y negro.
A través del programa de Pago por Servicios Ambientales también se beneficia a familias que ahora se dedican a la limpieza de caños y arroyos obstruidos por escombros y residuos que dejó Iota a su paso.
“La iniciativa Pagos por Servicios Ambientales está programada hasta el mes de diciembre, sin embargo, estamos buscando alternativas para extenderlo y mantenerlo por varios meses más, pues hemos visto el resultado de trabajar con los isleños, quienes tienen un gran compromiso con la conservación y la protección de los ecosistemas marinos y el bosque seco tropical”, finalizó el ministro Carlos Eduardo Correa, quien visitó varias familias beneficiadas. / Sep. 12, 2021. Dr. panda has innovated/invented more than 10,000 (ten thousand) teaching aids and different innovations and he has more than 30,000 (Thirty thousand) ideas to make scientific and mathematical models.
His creations are very essential guide for school and college science exhibitions, innovative learning and play way method for the teachers and students, science activists, innovators, craftsmen, farmers, masons, physically challenged persons, common men, entrepreneurs and industrialists.
He is popularizing science through song, innovative demonstrations and motivational speech since 1990 in different parts of Odisha state without taking any fees.
Dr. Panda is an extreme motivational speaker in science and possess magical scientific demonstration and a crowd puller.
Innovator Mihir Kumar Panda loves nature and in his agricultural farm he does not uses the chemicals , fertilizers and pesticides. In his farm even the smallest creatures like snakes, caterpillar, white ants, worms ,vermies are in peace and are managed successfully not to do harm.
Dr. Panda is an Educationist, an environmentalist, a poet for science popularization, a good orator, a best resource person to train others in specific field of science and engineering.
The uniqueness of Simple Innovation and scientific activities and achievements ofDr. Panda can not be assessed without visiting his laboratory which is a living wonder in the realm of science.
From a small cake cutter to mechanical scissor, from a play pump to rickshaw operated food grain spreader and from a village refrigerator to a multi-purpose machine, thousands of such inventions and innovations are proof of Dr. Panda's brilliance.
From a tube well operated washing machine to weight sensitive food grain separator, from a password protected wardrobe to automatic screen, from a Dual face fan to electricity producing fan are example of few thousands of innovations and inventions of Mihir Kumar Panda.
Dr.Mihir Kumar Panda though bestowed to a popular name as Einstein of Odisha is obliviously treated as Thomas Alva Edison of India.
Dr. Panda's residential house also resembles a museum with scientific innovations of different shapes and sizes stacked in every nook and cranny which proves his scientific involvement in personal life.
Innovator Panda believes that , the best thing a child can do with a toy to break it. he also believes that by Educating child in his/her choice subject/ passion a progressive nation can be built.
The shelf made scientist Dr. Panda believes that Education is a life long process whose scope is far greater than school curriculum. The moulding of models/ innovations done by hand always better than the things heard and the facts incorporated in the books.
With no agricultural background, Dr. Panda has developed unique natural bonsai in his Vijnana Bana Ashram which also shows path for earning just by uprooting and nurturing the plants which are found to be small and thumb in nature.
Dr. Panda's Scientific Endeavour and research is no doubt praise worthy. One cannot but believe his dedicated effort in simple innovation laboratory.
Social service, innovation/ inventions, writing, free technology to students for preparation of science exhibition projects, free technology to common men for their sustainability, preparation of big natural bonsai, technology for entrepreneurs and industrialists for innovative item are few works of Mihir Kumar Panda after his Government service.
. To overcome the difficulties of science and math, explanation in classes, innovator Panda has created few thousands of educational, societal and scientific innovations which helps teachers and students of the country and abroad.
Dr. Panda believes that though inventions/innovation has reached under thousands and thousands deep in the sea and high up in the space. It has reached on moon and mars, but unfortunately the sustainable inventions/innovation has not properly gone to the tiny tots and common people.
