Pour conclure cette série sur ma rencontre avec la petite famille de Plongeon huard voici, dans toute sa grâce, ce beau Prince des lacs. Ici il prenait une petite pause entre deux nettoyages et lissages de son tout particulier plumage, ce qui explique la présentation toute ébouriffée des plumes de sa queue.
Ce même Huard, devenu bien malgré lui en 1987 en quelques sorte un emblème de la monnaie canadienne, détrônant la feuille d'érable des défuntes cennes canadiennes (2013) qui jouait en quelques sortes jusqu'alors ce rôle. Le Plongeon huard est utilisé depuis comme figure sur le revers des pièces de un dollar de la monnaie canadienne (remplaçant le dollar en papier), ce qui l'amena à devenir, à force d'usage, la dénomination commune pour désigner le dollar canadien sur le marché des changes comme en fait foi notamment une manchette du journal La Presse du 18 mai dernier qui titrait alors «Le huard s’envole au-delà de 83 cents US».
Ich bin immer wieder fasziniert, wie schön die Sonne eine Landschaft in ein wunderbares Licht tauchen kann. Wenn dann noch Schnee, Berge und Nebel hinzukommen, dann geht einem das Herz ganz weit auf...deshalb liebe ich die Berge und den Winter...
Dieses Panorama habe ich aus zwei hochauflösenden Bildern zusammengesetzt, damit sich das Reinzoomen auch lohnt :-))

Es zieht mich immer wieder zu dieser kleinen Kapelle Santa Clara hin. Die Kapelle steht auf einem Hügle inmitten von Heinersgrün und sie ist schon aus der Ferne zu sehen. Es hatte hier viel Schnee gelegen, aber bei meinem Besuch war bereits die Tauphase eingetreten und Teile der Wiese schauten durch. Heinersgrün wurde erstmalig im Jahr 1296 urkundlich erwähnt und befindet sich im Vogtlanddreieck in Sachsen, Nähe der bayerischen Grenze.
Wer die Kapelle innen besichtigen möchte, kann sich dazu einen Schlüssel ausleihen.
I keep coming back to this little chapel of Santa Clara. The chapel stands on a hill in the middle of Heinersgrün and can be seen from afar. There had been a lot of snow here, but when I visited the dew phase had already set in and parts of the meadow looked through. Heinersgrün was mentioned for the first time in 1296 and is located in the Vogtland triangle in Saxony, near the Bavarian border.
If you want to visit the inside of the chapel, you can borrow a key.
Common Loons have a wing span of 117cm ( 46 inches for my American friends)

When the sun lightend the bird we can see it has some colors.
Like I said before... there is nothing "common" about a Common Loon.
When he flapped his wings after preening, I was lucky enough to catch this series of this extraordinary bird.
He was busy catching crabs and at times fighting with another bird in breeding plumage who repeatedly tried to drag him under and drive him across the water. Soon that relented and they began to tolerate each other. I think their hormones levels are high at this time.
I felt at peace as I lay down and watched these two birds go about their business. They couldn't care less about our presence as they swam closer and closer and directly to us. It was a magical moment as our faces met. Even in the moment I couldn't stop from saying "Wow". They cried out their wailing calls several times to each other. I never tire of that sound. I felt blessed to be in their presence.
Whenever life gets tough, getting out in nature and with the birds just lifts me back up again. This is especially true when I get to spend time in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with my favourite person and one of my favourite birds, the Common Loon.

Diese Küste auf Teneriffa ist mit den speziell geformten Lavazungen etwas ganz besonderes. Beim genauen hinsehen ergeben sich immer wieder wie künstlerische Muster. Zusammen mit dem Moos und den immer wiederkommenden Wellen eine Augenweide. Eine Herausforderung war, trocken zu bleiben ;-) denn das Meer war sehr wild und die Wellen unberechenbar.

This coast in Tenerife is very special with the specially formed lava flows. When looking closely, they are always like artistic patterns. Together with the moss and the ever-recurring waves awe-eyed. A challenge was to stay dry ;-) because the sea was very wild and the waves unpredictable.

Freilebende Störche im Westküstenpark Sankt Peter Ording werden mit gefüttert , die Möwen wollen aber auch ihren Anteil haben :-)
Es hängt immer vom Ort ab, was man fotografieren kann. Bei mir im Hessischen Ried findet man z.B. wegen der vielen Entwässerungsgräben leicht Eisvögel, die gemeinhin ja als selten gelten. Im Gegensatz dazu habe ich hier in den letzten fünf Jahren nur einmal einen Dompfaff und seit über 20 Jahren nicht ein einziges Blaukehlchen gesehen, die angeblich ebenfalls im Schilf der Gräben vorkommen sollen. Tja...
Ausgewählt habe ich deshalb ein Foto aus meiner Eisvogelbildersammlung damit nach zuletzt viel grau und braun farblich wieder etwas Abwechslung in meinen fotostream kommt. Aber fragt mich nicht, was der kleine Kerl mit der weißen Feder wollte. Ich weiß es nicht. 😇
What you can photograph always depends on the location. Here in the Hessian Ried, for example, it’s easy to spot kingfishers – which are generally considered rare – thanks to the many drainage ditches. In contrast, I’ve only seen a bullfinch once here in the last five years, and haven’t spotted a single bluethroat in over 20 years, even though they’re supposed to be found in the reeds along the ditches as well. Well...
Hence today I’ve chosen a photo from my collection of kingfisher pictures so that, after a lot of grey and brown recently, there’s a bit of variety in my photo stream again. However, don't ask me what the little guy intended with the white feather. I don't know it. 😇
