I love long exposures, everything to do with night time, the dark, sunrise and sunset.
I like to take pictures mainly at night , sometimes during the day and in dull and fading light and I will sometimes display the time and date the picture was taken too.
I tend to take pictures of Light trails, Motorway traffic, Street lights, Buildings, Landscapes, Bokeh, Night bokeh and Hexagonal Night Bokeh in England.
All of my pictures are 100% natural and untouched in every way without ever been Photo shopped or altered or messed about with in anyway whatsoever, No multi layered photography, No HDR's and No image manipulation of any kind, all of my pictures look just the way they did when I saw them at the time of taking and I'm VERY PROUD of that.
I don't do any photo processing at all, I don't even own any photo software.
All of my starbursts are all 100% natural without using any filters or anything else, as is all my bokeh, night bokeh and hexagonal night bokeh, its all natural, no funny gimmicks at all.
I don't do anything with my pictures apart from take them and then upload them , 99.99999% of my pictures don't even get cropped , they are all 100% natural and untouched and then uploaded.

Details and History
The Library of Congress website offers a multitude of historical images, many with no known restrictions on use. This July, 1864 image by Charles E. Meyer shows a woman in dark clothing walking through the ruins of Chambersburg PA. The source stereograph is titled North-West corner public square, Chambersburg, Franklin Co., Pa., destroyed by the rebels under McCausland, July 30th, 1864 .

Reethi Beach, our first visit back to the Maldives since we dipped our toes into the water so to speak in 1996 to Thudufushi. After getting some more experience diving in the UK and on a couple of trips to Thailand I decided that warm water diving was for me, and there is no easier diving in the world than on the Maldives. The islands are usually quite small so after breakfast you just wander down to the Dive Centre, the staff will have put all your dive gear on the boat, all you have to do is turn up and go diving!
I would say Reethi Beach is at the budget end of Maldivian islands but as with most islands whatever level you are at it can be enough. Just being in the Maldives is enough, the whole vibe is just amazing. I guess the worst bit for us was the room, the tin roof was pretty noisy when it rained and there we had some scurrying furry creatures in the roof that can keep you awake at night. A good dive and snorkelling island though and there are a lot of repeaters here who love this place.....then again there are repeaters on every island!
I have started using a more impressionistic style to my photographs lately, I try to bring out the feeling of the place by varying the post processing effects that I use. To be honest I find it absolutely amazing what can be pulled from a pretty poor image these days by utilising current image manipulation techniques. The only slight problem is it takes time, something none of us have enough of, but I must say the final results are well worth the effort.
The thing we love the most about Maldives holidays is the mornings.....without a doubt the best time of the day. We are up at dawn for a run around the island and to see the sun come up. We usually have the whole island to ourselves at this time of day, it's just so calm and peaceful. Then it's into the bathwater temperature ocean for a snorkel before a well earned breakfast.....the best meal of the day.
The climate is perfect this time of year, you just have to put up with a few stray showers. For a chill out holiday the temperatures are absolutely perfect in the Maldives, around 30 degrees, day and night. The evenings are slightly balmy.....perfect for the tee shirt, shorts and the 'no news no shoes' uniform of the Maldives. Even the water is 30 degrees.....and it is the same 30 metres down, maybe dipping to 28 degrees on a cool day. This area of the world is just stunning, there is nowhere else like it. Absolute heaven!

Day 12 of 365
Clemson plays Maryland this weekend. Being a Clemson Alumnist, but also being from Maryland, I'm a bit torn, but my Alma Matter places first when it comes to a showdown between the two. It also helps that Clemson is undefeated this season and it looks like they could remain that way all season.
For somebody who isn't the biggest sports fan in the world, it is going to be a busy weekend for me. Ravens vs. Colts (GO RAVENS!) and Clemson vs. Maryland (Go Tigers!).
I also had done my right eye already and my left was feeling a bit neglected.

Continuing on with my exploration & documentation of just about everything including California's beautiful and geologically diverse beaches and coastline, once again we join a group of surfers who are out in force this overcast morning at Huntington Beach, appearing as diminutive dark specks in center frame - As usual, I prefer minimal editing, processing, and or image manipulation to preserve the purest look and feel possible - The sandy beach and foreground has a nice rugged dark wet & deep brown appearance which reflects the grumpy weather and true amount of moisture in the air this morning - To the middle left of the frame you can catch a tiny fleeting glimpse of a surfer negotiating a smaller wave - The few small clusters of indigenous flowers sprouting out of the front of the terra firma formation in the foreground adds just a "splash" of subtle & introverted contrasting color against the multiple brown & uniquely "Huntington Beach" earth tones -
Shortly after this photo was snapped, the sun flexed it's muscles and popped right through the thin cloud layer -

Reethi Beach, our first visit back to the Maldives since we dipped our toes into the water so to speak in 1996 to Thudufushi. After getting some more experience diving in the UK and on a couple of trips to Thailand I decided that warm water diving was for me, and there is no easier diving in the world than on the Maldives. The islands are usually quite small so after breakfast you just wander down to the Dive Centre, the staff will have put all your dive gear on the boat, all you have to do is turn up and go diving!
I would say Reethi Beach is at the budget end of Maldivian islands but as with most islands whatever level you are at it can be enough. Just being in the Maldives is enough, the whole vibe is just amazing. I guess the worst bit for us was the room, the tin roof was pretty noisy when it rained and there we had some scurrying furry creatures in the roof that can keep you awake at night. A good dive and snorkelling island though and there are a lot of repeaters here who love this place.....then again there are repeaters on every island!
I have started using a more impressionistic style to my photographs lately, I try to bring out the feeling of the place by varying the post processing effects that I use. To be honest I find it absolutely amazing what can be pulled from a pretty poor image these days by utilising current image manipulation techniques. The only slight problem is it takes time, something none of us have enough of, but I must say the final results are well worth the effort.
The thing we love the most about Maldives holidays is the mornings.....without a doubt the best time of the day. We are up at dawn for a run around the island and to see the sun come up. We usually have the whole island to ourselves at this time of day, it's just so calm and peaceful. Then it's into the bathwater temperature ocean for a snorkel before a well earned breakfast.....the best meal of the day.
The climate is perfect this time of year, you just have to put up with a few stray showers. For a chill out holiday the temperatures are absolutely perfect in the Maldives, around 30 degrees, day and night. The evenings are slightly balmy.....perfect for the tee shirt, shorts and the 'no news no shoes' uniform of the Maldives. Even the water is 30 degrees.....and it is the same 30 metres down, maybe dipping to 28 degrees on a cool day. This area of the world is just stunning, there is nowhere else like it. Absolute heaven!

Thornton Butte Truck
I believe it is/was an original 1964 1-Ton International Truck, but it has been awhile since I labeled it; so I'm going from memory. Most people that saw this picture really thought it was cool. One poor fellow said it was too bad the front end was all damaged. Clearly he didn't appreciate impressionist photo/art/painterly techniques. There wasn't a dent on the front end of the real truck.

Boston Public Library

This is the old reading room of the Boston Public Libary, one of my favorite places. There was a time when we did not have any internet connection at my place in Boston, so I had to use the "free internet" service here up to 9pm. I have not visited it during daytime, for a long time, so I will take a photo of this room during daytime to show some details.
This is a very beautiful reading room, not as great as the US Library of Congress in Washington, DC., but nonetheless very inspiring place to be.
Note that the people may be moving while reading or doing some computer work. So, some of them are blurry but the aqua blue lamps are more or less sharp.
N.B.
Except for cropping, "unsharp image" and the automated resizing and "screen image optimization" no further image manipulation was done.
Before the explosion of Scanners,Photoshop and other image manipulation tools, I used to do collages, often using Ephemera such as this. Finding ways to isolate areas that I wanted to capture was a challenge for me back then- often leaving me frustrated with the final result.
Due to todays "Snow Day" in Chicago, and not being able to safely drive to my studio (and back) I chose to go through some older files- and ran across these beauties, that I thought I'd share w/ my flickr homies!

December Diary 2010 Project. The theme is alphabet or food and drink or both. I am challenged to the max but Im going to giver a go! 1 photo every day for the month of December.
This was a cute little display out the back door of a business in the town of Bamburg, SC... I suspect its the smoking area for the store employees. I cropped the trashcans and the alleyway out. I think its such a cute oasis.
