I followed him as long as I could but he finally went faster than I could! The young buck was a surprise to me as well!

I despair sometimes at the complete disconnect between modern society and nature. I was asked today if this Grey Heron was a Penguin, not by a child but by two adults. When I told them what it was I don't think they could have cared any less.

I took my daughter to the 2013 Port Road Drags at Seaview, Wellington, New Zealand. An annual event run by Cam County Incorporated, it's a 1/8 mile street drag meet run on closed public roads. I'd not been since 1991, it was excellent to see the variety of iron and folks having a really good time.

Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide.
No escape from reality.
Open your eyes,
Look up to the skies and see.

Guys I really need your help. If any of you know about living at Nellis AFB Nevada or anywhere right outside Vegas can you give me some advice, My husband has been given orders there and we are due to arrive sometime in January or February. I have been hearing this and tht and am not so excited about moving there with my boys. I have lil guys one is 2 and the other 6. We are from a small town and from there moved to Montana another small town and are now living in Japan where you could walk anywhere and leave your doors unlocked and not be afraid. I am really trying to trust that God has a plan for us going there but right now I am just really scared and depressed about it. Any advice would be appreciated and if you could pray for some peace of mind for me about this that would be great too! Thanks so much!!
Swanage's Victorian pier is over 100 years old and is one of two built, although it is the only one that survives complete today. The pier extends into the southern end of Swanage Bay near Swanage, a small town in the south east of Dorset, England. It is situated on the eastern coast of the Isle of Purbeck, approximately 10km south of Poole and 40km east of Dorchester in the United Kingdom.
The original Swanage Pier was built between 1859 and 1861 for use primarily by the local stone quarrying industry, and included a tramway which ran the length of the pier and some way along the seafront. The old tracks can be seen to this day, inset into the seafront walkways.
When local businessman George Burt introduced regular steamer services between Swanage and nearby towns Poole and Bournemouth in 1874, a need became apparent for a second pier to be built primarily for use by passenger steamers. Construction on the new pier began in 1895, and by 1896 was first used by a steamer. The pier was officially opened for traffic in 1897. While regular steamer services ran on the new pier, up until 1966, the older original pier declined along with the stone industry it served some years earlier. Today all that remains of the old pier are some of the timber piles.
After steamer services discontinued in 1966 the remaining pleasure pier also began to fall into disrepair. After a failed attempt to restore the pier by a development firm in 1986, Swanage Pier Trust took over ownership of the pier in 1993.
The Trust took on the task of raising over £1,000,000 needed to carry out major restoration work on the piers piles and timbers and ironwork fittings.

An Eurotram crosses the double deck bridge across the Douro.
The Ponte Luís I was inaugurated in 1886 and designed by Théophile Seyrig, the former partner of Gustave Eiffel. In 2003 the Ponte do Infante was opened as replacement for the road traffic on the upper deck. The Ponte Luís I got a major overhaul and the upper deck is since 2005 used by the trams of the "Metro do Porto". Pedestrians are allowed to use the upper deck, but all road traffic is abandoned. The lower deck is still used by road traffic.

Scorpion, I/O’s next generation cable-based land recording system, maximizes seismic crew productivity, ensures error-free recording and enables high channel count surveys and full-wave imaging. The system’s field-proven System Four software ensures the channel capacity and features required by today’s increasingly complex survey designs. Scorpion, which supports both digital full-wave VectorSeis and analog geophone acquisition, serves as the platform of choice for robust, efficient, user-friendly data recording in all land and transition zone environments.
I don't know if the penny on her lips had some kind of a meaning or symbolism, but I found it strange. (This is a statue by a grave in Savannah, GA).
Everyone says that Paris is the city for lovers, but I think Rome must come a pretty close second:-)

What’s this round and prickly thing?
Can it be a pincushion?
No! Pincushions never grow
In fields where daisies blow.
Oh! and now I see a nose
With four little tiny toes.
And as it opens in the sun
How those green flies spoil the fun!
But there, it hears a barking dog
And rolls up safe, our prickly hedgehog.
This hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus) was actually irritated and grunting loudly at the green fly that kept bothering it. Didn't mind me one bit, but rolled up tight when Foske came round to get a sniff.

I Am a Camera was initially inspired by Christopher Isherwood’s The Berlin Stories. The play itself went on to inspire the musical show and film ‘Cabaret’ which famously starred Liza Minelli. It centres around Isherwood’s life during the time he spent in Germany during the Second World War and the action takes place in the bed-sitting room of Fraulein Schneider’s lodging house in Berlin. Confronting frank subjects such as pregnancy and unwanted racism it’s a tellingly real piece of history and life.

I'm so drained. .Why do we self sabotage? Why do we hurt those we most care about? Is it because we think they'll stay? I just, I don't understand. I have friends who are going through the most difficult things. It hurts to watch and be helpless.
-I uploaded with the intention of catching up on a tag but then I just started writing. So, I just tagged all of you in the hope that you just pour out what you are really feeling in this exact moment into your next photo or description, or just your next conversation on the phone. Let go. I don't particularly like this photo but I am proud because, I was honest. It feels good to just let go.
FGR invades Let's Make A Toast! not the bread kind.
Inken (our AFS student) graduated from Mariemont High tonight...which just means we are getting closer to having to say good-bye. Gracie's not having any of it. But we toasted the 120 graduates....
Also, Grateful Clem's last day of his 365. Evildog always thought he was such a poser. Congrats, Clem! But we're not buying that he's gonna "disappear" for awhile....seems I remember him saying that at the end of his last 365 project. You need us, you know you do. and we need you!
and the host group rules state "only glasses raised" to be submitted to the group - ummm, no thumbs - this could get messay. If it gets ko'd I'm ok with it.
I don't usually have a hard time naming girls, but this one is really giving me a hard time... I have contemplated Elizabeth, Tiger Lily, and Tea... But I can't get a name to stick. Hopefully soon she will tell me what her name is ;)

Update: I am leaning toward the name Magnolia... I am just waiting to make sure that is what she whispered to me ~___^
