I had the opportunity to visit Artechouse for Quayola’s algorithmic light show based off an AI interpretation of piano music. You read that right, and if it sounds and looks surreal, you should have just seen the walls pulsating with the different color tones to match the piano’s notes. According to Artechouse, the exhibit offers “A duet of motorized piano and hyperreal projections combines human and technological elements through a system of unconventional generative algorithms.”

Digging up an old prompt from my archives and running it several times with modes I didn't have back when I first wrote that prompt.

I EVOLVED it from Dreamshaper v8, which in turn was a evolve from an earlier iteration, finally with Fluently XL Lightning

There will be time to murder and create,

And time for all the works and days of hands,

That lift and drop a question on your plate;

Time for you and time for me,

And time yet for a hundred indecisions,

And for a hundred visions and revisions,

Before the taking of a toast and tea."

This is the first sculpture that one sees in the Sam Jinks exhibition at the QVMAG in Launceston. One is gripped immediately by the beautiful scene of an elderly woman with a baby. They are so present in the room under that lighting, and a tribute to the hyperreal form that the sculptor employs.

The task for the photographer is to interpret the scene, by the use of existing gallery light (low lumens), and any background information including shadows and point of view.

Gottfrieds Mickey made my day today ;)

More 'fantastia' on the window frost theme. One imagines all kinds of imagery when looking at ice crystals and frost, frozen into fractal patterns on the window.

Music Link: Brian Eno - "Cavallino", from his album "The Shutov Assembly". Eno's delight in creating music that is 'macro' in many ways, with infinitely subtle details and immense spacial depth, with it's quiet, thought-enhancing ambience makes for my desired compliment to this series of ice and frost images.

"HYPER" offers a concise yet ambitious look at the development of hyperrealism, demonstrating how the representation of the human figure has transformed over the decades. The exhibition is a collaborative effort with the German Institut für Kulturaustausch, featuring loans from artists, galleries, art foundations, and private collections worldwide.

This is a painting of a house in Florence, Colorado. I have the photograph that goes with it under another section in my photostream called Small American Towns;

Daniel Wallace

Canada (1983)

Decoded

Daniel Wallace, former director of a company specialising in new technologies, presents his first series, Decoded. Influenced by hyperrealism, this Canadian artist combined two types of images: on the one hand, studio shots of young women and, on the other, similar portraits created from scratch by artificial intelligence he was able to code thanks to his previous profession as an entrepreneur.

He reinterpreted the myth of the Siren, whose apparent beauty masks a sinister reality. In his eyes, she becomes a metaphor for modern technology. Presented side by side, these images blur our perception of reality and question the role of artificial intelligence in an increasingly virtual world.

the prompt included Giger, Arcimboldo, Wonderland, Taxidermy

I resurrected my Wonderland prompt with references to Brothers Quay and the Lady in the Radiator, and added as the lead 'Cryptid Taxidermy'. From the few tries so far, this makes for a very interesting trip into Surreal Weirdville.

The world famous Sleepy Hollow farm near Woodstock, Vermont. Shot was taken against the sun thus quite boring, so I gave it a hyperreal twist in postprocessing :)
