Snow fell last night. I opened the curtains and ..... what a beautiful sight! When the sun came through the clouds the picture was complete.

Musée Cinéma et Miniature in the heart of Vieux Lyon (Lyon’s old town). This museum unites miniaturist and founder Dan Ohlmann’s two passions: the magic of film special effects and the art of miniatures.

Once again I've taken my black and white image of the rocks and painted it. These colours are actually quite accurate (including the orange lichen in the foreground), but still give us that sense of hyperreality.
These Bass Strait rocks remind me very much of those included in a number of paintings by Leonardo Da Vinci. In particular I think of the London version of "The Virgin of the Rocks" (1495-1508).

Color is a physical thing, something that is there. While black and white isn’t there”.

This 'artifact' 😎 was shown in the last Room of the Exhibition 'Hyperreal. The Art of Trompe l'Oeil' at the Thyssen-Bonermisza Museum in Madrid: spectators, in turns, had to surround the work and see it from all perspectives to provoke the images and visual and sensory representations for themselves.
I had the opportunity to visit Artechouse for Quayola’s algorithmic light show based off an AI interpretation of piano music. You read that right, and if it sounds and looks surreal, you should have just seen the walls pulsating with the different color tones to match the piano’s notes. According to Artechouse, the exhibit offers “A duet of motorized piano and hyperreal projections combines human and technological elements through a system of unconventional generative algorithms.”

"Photography is painting with light! The blurs, the spots, those are errors! But the errors are part of it, they give it poetry and turn it into painting. And for that you need as bad a camera as possible! If you want to be famous, you have to do whatever you're doing worse than anyone else in the whole world."
