Auspicious Elephants at Shun Hing Street
In traditional Chinese culture, the elephant is a symbol of good fortune and affluence. The pronunciation of ‘elephant’ (xiàng) is similar to that of ‘auspiciousness’(xiáng), plus the way elephants draw water using their trunks also represents drawing in wealth. At the entrance to the open area of the public housing on Shun Hing Street (facing the Chung Ying Street police post), stands a striking pavilion with red pillars and a green tiled roof. It’s adorned with small golden tiles on the edges, and at the top, two lifelike dragons are guarding a pearl that represents Sha Tau Kok. In the front, there is a pair of elaborately sculpted elephants. Rumour has it that they were set up by a feng shui master to help residents of Sha Tau Kok to draw wealth and fortune from the natural treasure trove of Starling Inlet (water symbolises wealth in Chinese culture). You may touch the elephants for good luck — touch the one with its trunk raised first to bring wealth and fortune, then the one with its trunk lowered to safeguard them. Remember to follow the correct order!

L'homme aux 7 masques...
Il était une fois un homme qui avait sept masques. Un pour chaque jour de la semaine.
Quand il se levait le matin, il se couvrait immédiatement le visage d'un de ses masques. Ensuite, il s'habillait et sortait.
Il vivait ainsi sa vie sans jamais montrer son vrai visage.
Or, un soir, pendant qu'il dormait à poings fermés, un voleur cambriola sa maison et déborda ses sept masques.
A son réveil, l'homme se mit à pousser des hurlements. Il cria: “Au voleur! Au voleur!” et courut dans les rues de la ville à la recherche de ses masques.
Les gens le voyaient gesticuler, jurer et menacer la terre entière des plus grandes catastrophes s'il ne retrouvait pas son bien. Il passa des jours entiers à essayer de découvrir la cachette de son voleur, mais en vain.
Alors, découragé, il s'effondra et pleura à chaudes larmes. Il pleura comme un enfant, car sa peine semblait inconsolable. Les gens tentaient de le réconforter, mais ils n'arrivaient pas à trouver les mots qui auraient pu l'apaiser.
Une femme qui passait par là, s'arrêta et lui demanda:
-Qu'as-tu ami? Pourquoi pleures-tu ainsi,
Il leva la tête et répondit d'une voix étouffée:
-On m'a volé tous mes masques et je suis maintenant vulnérable. Mon visage est découvert.
-Ce n'est rien, lui dit-elle avec ardeur, regarde-moi, je garde mon visage nu depuis que je suis née.
Alors, il la regarda longuement, et il vit qu'elle était très belle.
La femme se pencha, lui sourit, et avec sa main essuya ses larmes.
Et pour la première fois de sa vie, l'homme sentit la douceur d'une caresse sur son visage.

First Moderate Risk in South
Central Nebraska & North Central Kansas.
A short jaunt down the severe weather risk area that day from Kearney Nebraska. Arrived in Alma Nebraska a tad behind schedule. The storm was already tornado warned and produced a tornado southwest of Alma. Storm was raging and I wasn't in a good place. Had to core punch this storm & headed east via Hwy 136. That's were this collection of images starts.
I was east bound on Hwy 136 that skirts the border of Nebraska / Kansas. This would take me deep into the Moderate Risk for that severe weather day. Instability was visible everywhere out in front of this storm. A Mammatus Cluster with a wall cloud was right in front of me while another supercell was producing tornadoes behind my current location.
Wicked Beautiful Supercell Structure as I got up close & personal. Especially by Franklin Nebraska where I encountered my first Tornado of 2022.
East then north out of Red Cloud Nebraska. The storms were still producing severe weather but was exiting fast out of my range. End this day with a spectacular view of the backside of the storm. A huge mammatus cloud cluster to enjoy as I was heading home!
