Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu
5 Days / 4 Nights
Is a trek that takes you through diverse landscapes and altitudes as we trek around the skirts of Mount Salkantay(6271m/20,568ft) and camp within clear sight of the snow capped peak. Ascending to reach the famous Apacheta Pass at 4,600m/15,088ft) and then descent into a more tropical area passing Andenes and Chaullay on the far side of the mountain. Train ride from Hydro Electric Dam and then spend the rest of the 4th evening relaxing in the town and hotsprings of Aguas Calientes. Early 5th morning you take the bus (or walk if desired) up to Machu Picchu your well deserved prize. Late afternoon train and bus back to Cusco in the evening.
This path is well-known as the Salkantay Trek. After the Inca Trail, the Salkantay Trek is the most beautiful and popular one. Indeed, the magazine National Geographic Adventure rated the Salkantay Trek as one of the best 25 treks all over the world.
Salkantay Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco - Mollepata - Soraypampa
We will leave from Cusco approximately between 4:30a.m. and 5:00a.m. A local bus will take us to the town of Mollepata (2900 meters above sea level) where we will arrive approximately at 8:15 in the morning to have breakfast. During the trip we will have panoramic views of the majestic Salkantay, other mountains covered with snow, and the Valley of Apurimac River. We will meet with our support staff, and they will load the equipment on horses and mules. Around 9:00 a.m., we will begin our walk toward Sayllapata (3200 meters above sea level). About 1:00p.m., we will have a Peruvian lunch. After lunch, we will continue hiking toward the Soraypampa villages (3850 meters above sea level). Around 5:30 in the afternoon we will arrive to our camp where the tents will be ready for you as well as your dinner.
Day 2: Soraypampa - Salkantay Pass - Huayracpunku - Chaullay
Today, nature will change drastically from dry sceneries to snowy peaks and tropical areas. After a nutritious breakfast, we will start the most difficult part of the trek. We will start the hike around 7:00 in the morning. We will hike to a place called Pampas Salkantay, then go toward the left side of the snowy peaks of Umantay located next to the Apu Salkantay. At midday, we will be on the highest point ( 4600 meters above sea level). We will appreciate spectacular views of the mountains and the imposing snowy peaks of the Salkantay (6264 meters above sea level) which is known as the second highest point of the Cusco region. Around 1:00 p.m., we will have our lunch, in the area called Huayracmachay. After a trek of approximately 3 hours, we will arrive to our camp in Challway (2920 meters above sea level). Around 7:00p.m., we will recuperate from the trek and eat dinner.
Day 3: Chaullay - Collpapampa - La Playa - Santa Teresa
Around 7:00a.m., we will start our trek. We will walk for about 6 hours toward Playa Sahuayaco and during this period; we will observe a town called Collpabamba, also called the “Forest Cloudy Brow” where waterfalls, thermal hot springs, fruit-bearing trees, varied flora, and birds can be observed. If we are lucky, we will be able to observe the famous bird called the “Cock of the Rocks”. From Playa Sahuayaco, we will head to the campsite located at the hot springs of Santa Teresa (It is recommended to bring a bath suit.) Here you will eat dinner.
Day 4: Santa Teresa - Hidroelectryc - Aguas Calientes
After of our delicious breakfast we are going to walk for approximately around 8:30 a.m we begin our trek to the village Colpani, we follow this rising trail, from which we will see plantations of coffee, banana, passion fruit and a lovely view of the Santa Teresa Valley. We follow along the riverside of Vilcanota River until arrive to the Oroya (canopy brich) From here we have an option to hike to hidroelectrica or to catch a small car where will take us until Hidroelectrica (25 minutes), from this place we can observe the back of Machupicchu Sanctuary, where we have the last lunch with all staff. from here we will continuo walking until arrive to Aguas Calientes around 4:30 p.m then we will stay in a hostal the last night.
Day 5: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu Sanctuary - Aguas Calientes - Ollantaytambo - Cusco
Today, you will be able to choose between waking up at 4:30a.m. and walking up to Machu Picchu or taking a bus to Machu Picchu at 7:00a.m. In Machu Picchu, you will have a guided tour for about two hours and after that you will be free to explore the Citadel and take pictures, or if you desire, ascent toward the Huaynapicchu Mountain. At 2:26p.m. or 6:03p.m. (depending on availability), you will be taking a train to Ollantaytambo and from there; a bus will drive you to your hotel in Cusco.

"Aspen Magazine was a multimedia magazine conceived of, edited and published by Phyllis Johnson in New York from 1965 to 1971. Aspen broke new ground in terms of its editorial concept, design approach and distribution strategy, which continues to be resonant and influential today.
The magazine featured a diverse and impressive array of contributors, from such key artists, musicians, authors and theorists as Andy Warhol, Willem de Kooning, Ian Hamilton Finlay, David Hockney, Jasper Johns, Allan Kaprow, Ed Ruscha, J. G. Ballard, Bill Evans, Philip Glass, the Velvet Underground and Yoko Ono. Known as “the magazine in a box,” Aspen was made up of unbound contents that included texts, flexi-discs, reels of film and other objects. It struck a chord in the 1960s artists’ publishing culture—which included publications by Marcel Duchamp, Seth Siegelaub and members of the Fluxus movement—and embraced the idea of presenting travelling exhibitions in a book (or a box, for that matter) in order to provide alternative spaces and economies for art.
The exhibition features complete sets of all issues, with a focus on the combined edition of issues five and six from 1967, which was guest-edited by Brian O’Doherty and is referred to as The Conceptual Issue. Contributors to this issue include Marcel Duchamp, Samuel Beckett, John Cage, Robert Rauschenberg, Hans Richter, Sol LeWitt, Mel Bochner, Naum Gabo, László Moholy-Nagy, Dan Graham, George Kubler, Robert Morris, William S. This is the Giant Camera located behind the Cliff House in San Francisco. It was built in 1946 by Floyd Jennings. It looks rather out of place there, somehow airlifted from a decaying amusement park. There’s a little bit of irony there, as it was once part of Playland-at-the-Beach Amusement Park. The Camera hasn’t moved; Playland, the Cliff House and the Sutro Baths were at one time all owned by George Whitney. When Playland closed in 1972, it was close to being destroyed, but was eventually saved by public campaign – and as recently as 1999 struggled through the same situation.
Fortunately for us, not only was it still there, it was open. This thing is so tucked away that this was actually something new for Rita.
And now you ask, what the heck is the Giant Camera? I’m getting to that. It is sometimes referred to as a camera obscura, which in latin means “dark chamber”. And that’s essentially what it is. At it’s most basic, think of a pinhole camera. However, this one has the lens on top, and a series of mirrors and lenses to project the image onto a large disc in the middle of the room. The question then arises, "What kind of fool would go into a dark room to look at the projection of something they can see for real outside?"
Well, certainly I’m that kind of fool. It’s not easy to describe how fascinating it is, but somehow it’s like peering into an alternate universe. I think the thing of it is we’re all so used to looking at televisions and computer monitors, but the detail of this is amazing. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area.

The processing used to decorate this hand marbled paper, was discovered and adopted in the XVII cen. by Mace Ruette, bookbinder of the Court of King Louis XIII of France, following the Ruette was lifted, officially, to the rank of "Relieur du Roi".

Sur vingt-quatre appartements, six, tout au plus huit, sont occupés. « Inlouables, trop excentrés, trop chers », tranche Jacques Renault, membre de la Confédération générale du logement et représentant des locataires au conseil d’administration de Montluçon Habitat, le propriétaire.
L’office public HLM de l’agglomération a acheté cette résidence en 2005, pour un prix trop élevé, sans avoir de projet précis ni les fonds pour la réhabiliter, à la filiale HLM de la SNCF qui voulait s’en débarrasser. Car le temps où le groupe ferroviaire comptait plus de mille salariés dans ses ateliers de maintenance de Montluçon est révolu. Il n’en reste qu’une centaine aujourd’hui. Des HLM trop nombreux qu’il faut se décider à démolir. Montluçon Habitat n’est pas le seul à être confronté à l’obsolescence d’une partie de son patrimoine. Je ne minore pas le rôle de Google Maps, révolution cartographique sans précédent et sans égale, qui aura réalisé nos fantasmes d’Aleph borgesien — l’idée d’un point d’où le monde serait visible en totalité — parachevé Mercator et permis d’explorer des parties du globe inconnues de Cook, Bougainville et Amundsen. Je n’oublie pas non plus cet exercice de cartographie au collège, qui nous avait démontré que nous étions à 3 cartes IGN de la capitale, et que le tissu urbain était de plus en plus serré à mesure que nous avancions vers le nord. Mais Plan possédait une fonctionnalité inédite, le Flyover, technologie à l’origine destinée aux pilotes de chasse, et qui fournissait des rendus 3D spectaculaire des bâtiments survolés — ainsi que des arbres et des déclivités du sol.On quittait enfin les champs asphyxiants de la photographie aérienne pour des vues à l’oblique des villes visitées : après un siècle d’écrasement — la photographie aérienne est étroitement contemporaine du bombardement aérien — les villes reprenaient enfin de la vigueur et remontaient vers le ciel. J’avais d’ailleurs effectué moi-même une manœuvre de redressement similaire le jour où j’étais parti, à pied depuis Paris, visiter à Nanterre une exposition sur la photographie aérienne. J’étais à la quête des premières vues de Paris qu’avait prises Nadar depuis un ballon captif. À défaut de ces images, définitivement manquantes, j’avais parcouru, après la Grande Arche, les derniers kilomètres de la Voie Royale, cette prodigieuse perspective historique partie du Louvre — rare exemple de frise chronologique implémentée dans une structure urbanistique.J’avais en réalité un peu dévié de la ligne droite pour aller voir les tours Nuages d’Emile Aillaud, le Facteur Cheval du modernisme, dont je connaissais déjà les autres chefs d’œuvres d'architecture naïve, les nouilles chinoises de Grigny et le spaghetti de Pantin.C’était précisément l’usage que j’avais fait de l’application Plans : j’étais parti à la recherche de tous les groupements de tour qu’elle m’avait permis d’identifier, sur mon iPad. Je les faisais tourner avec deux doigts, comme un éclaireur qui marcherait autour d’un donjon, avant de les immortaliser, sous leur plus bel angle, par une capture d’écran.Un éclaireur autour d’un donjon : c’était exactement cela, qui m’avait fasciné. Les guerres territoriales entre Les Tarterêts de Corbeil et les Pyramides d’Evry avaient marqué mon enfance. La notion de cité, telle qu’elle avait été définie, à partir des années 80, dans le second âge des grands ensembles, l’âge du déclin, avait conservé un cachet médiéval. Ici, vivaient guetteurs et trafiquants, condottieres à la tête d’une écurie de go-fast et entretenant des chenils remplis de mâtins rares et dangereux. Ici, l’État central ne remplissait plus ses tâches régaliennes, ici la modernité laïque était entrée en crise. Mais ce que j’avais découvert, en collectionnant ces captures d’écran, c’était à quel point l’urbanisme de la banlieue parisienne était, strictement, d’obédience médiévale. On était passé, d’un seul mouvement et sans même s’en rendre compte de Château-Gaillard à la Cité 4000, du Donjon de Vincennes aux tours de Sarcelles, du château de Gisors aux choux fleurs de Créteil.J’ai même retrouvé la colonne détruite du désert de Retz dans le babylonien château d’eau de Noisiel.Des hauteurs de Rosny à celle de Chanteloup, du plateau de Clichy à la dalle d’Argenteuil, on avait bizarrement livré des pastiches inconscients de la grande architecture militaire médiévales : les environs de Paris s’étaient retrouvés à nouveau fortifiés, la vieille tour de Montlhéry n’était plus solitaire, et même les immeubles de briques rouges qui avaient succédé à l’enceinte de Thiers évoquaient des murailles.
Et ce que j’avais initialement pris pour des anomalies, des accidents malheureux du post-modernisme, les grand ensembles voûtés et cannelés de Ricardo Boffil, étaient peut-être ce qui exprimait le mieux tout cela — ou du moins qui clôturaient avec le génie le plus clair cet âge des grands ensembles.
Car c’était cela, ces Carcassonnes, ces Acropoles, ces Atlandides qui surnageaient avec le plus de conviction au milieu des captures d’écrans de ruines médiévales qui s’accumulaient sur mon bureau.
Si décriées, dès leur construction, pour leur kitch intolérable ces mégastructures me sont soudain apparues comme absolument nécessaires.
Si les Villes Nouvelles n’ont jamais existé, et persisteront dans la mémoire des hommes, elles le doivent à ces rêveries bizarres et grandioses, à ces hybridations impossibles entre les cités idéales de Ledoux et les utopies corbuséennes.
L’Aqueduc de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, les Espaces d’Abraxas à Marne-la-Vallée, les Colonnes de Saint-Christophe à Cergy-Pontoise sont les plus belles ruines du Grand Paris.

C’est pour ces raisons que, à partir de 1954, le Ministre à la Reconstruction et au Logement évalue le besoin en logements à 2.000.660, devenant ainsi une priorité nationale. Quelques années plus tard à l’appel de l’Abbé Pierre, le journaliste Gilbert Mathieu, en avril 1957 publiait dans le quotidien Le Monde une série d’articles sur la situation dramatique du logement : Logement, notre honte et dénonçant le nombre réduit de logements et leur impitoyable état. Robert Doisneau, Banlieue après-guerre, 1943-1949 /Le mandat se veut triple : reconstruire le parc immobilier détruit durant les bombardements essentiellement du printemps/été 1944, faire face à l’essor démographique et enfin résorber l’habitat insalubre notamment les bidonvilles et les cités de transit. Une ambition qui paraît, dès le début, très élevée, associée à l’industrialisation progressive de la nation entre autre celle du secteur de la construction (voir le vidéo de l’INA du 17 juillet 1957 intitulée La crise du logement, un problème national. Cela dit, l’effort pour l’État français était d’une ampleur jamais vue ailleurs. La double nécessité de construire davantage et vite, est en partie la cause de la forme architecturale excentrique qui constituera les Grands Ensembles dans les banlieues françaises. Cinq caractéristiques permettent de mieux comprendre ce terme : la rupture avec le tissu urbain ancien, un minimum de mille logements, une forme collective (tours, barres) de quatre jusqu’à vingt niveaux, la conception d’appartements aménagés et équipés et enfin une gestion destinée pour la plupart à des bailleurs de logement social.
Pour la banlieue parisienne leur localisation s’est opérée majoritairement dans la périphérie, tandis que dans les autres cas, plus de la moitié a été construite dans le centre ville, le plus souvent à la limite des anciens faubourgs.

C’est le triomphe de l’urbanisme fonctionnel et rationaliste cher à Le Corbusier. Entre 1958 et 1973, cent quatre-vingt-quinze Zones à Urbaniser en Priorité (ZUP) sont créées, comprenant deux millions de logements, essentiellement de type populaire en Habitations à Loyer Modéré (HLM), mais pas exclusivement, remplaçant ainsi les anciennes Habitations à Bon Marché (HBM) crées en 1894. Selon le décret du 27 mars 1954 qui en fixe les conditions d’attribution, les bénéficiaires de la législation n’ont pas changé, ce sont toujours des « personnes peu fortunées vivant principalement de leur salaire », selon la loi Strauss de 1906. En 1953, tous les HLM voient leur surface maximale se réduire, en passant de 71 à 65 mètres carrés pour un quatre pièces. L’accès au logement des familles modestes se fera donc au détriment de la qualité et quantité de l’espace habité pour des familles nombreuses. À ce propos, le sociologue Thierry Oblet a bien montré comment se sont articulées les pensées des architectes et des ingénieurs modernistes, avec leur souci planificateur d’un État interventionniste[8] grâce à l’hégémonie du béton, de la ligne droite et de la standardisation de la construction.
Les exemples de cette architecture restent nombreux : de la Cité de 4000 (pour 4000 logements) à la Courneuve en Seine-Saint-Denis (93) aux logements de 15 étages aux balcons pétales, appelés « Chou-fleur » à Créteil en Val-de Marne (94) dessinés au début des années 70 par l’architecte Gérard Grandval. De la Cité des nuages à Nanterre dans les Hauts-de-Seine (92) à la Grande borne construite entre 1967 et 1971 sur le territoire des communes de Grigny et Viry-Châtillon, dans l’Essonne (91) en passant par la Noé à Chanteloup-les-Vignes dans le département des Yvelines (78) scénario du célèbre film La Haine[9] de Kassovits.
Récemment, plusieurs expositions photographiques se sont
concentrées sur cette nouvelle figure de l’urbanisme fonctionnaliste français de l’après-guerre. Par exemple Toit&Moi, 100 ans de logement social (2012), Les Grands ensembles 1960-2010 (2012) produite par l’école supérieure d’arts & médias de Caen/Cherbourg, selon un projet du Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication. Enfin l’exposition Photographie à l’œuvre, (2011-2012) d’Henri Salesse, photographe du service de l’inventaire du Ministère de la Reconstruction et de l’Urbanisme et Voyage en périphérie (2012) de Cyrus Cornut. Il s’agissait là non seulement d’un progrès matériel, mais aussi démocratique, donnant ainsi à chaque citoyen, la possibilité d’accéder à son petit appartement doté de tous les conforts de l’époque. La recherche d’économie et de rapidité dans la conduite des chantiers portent à l’utilisation du béton comme matériel privilégié et à des plans architecturaux aussi simples que possible avec la réalisation de logements standardisés, dont les barres et les tours deviennent les figures principales : Au mitan des années cinquante, apparurent d’étranges formes urbaines. Des immeubles d’habitation de plus en plus longs et de plus en plus hauts, assemblés en blocs qui ne s’intégraient pas aux villes existantes. Ces blocs s’en différenciaient ostensiblement et parfois comme systématiquement, s’en isolaient. Ils semblaient faire ville à part. Surtout ils ne ressemblaient pas à ce qu’on avait l’habitude d’appeler ville. Et leur architecture aussi, qui était tellement déroutante. On les a nommés » grands ensembles. Bref, entre 1946 et 1975 le parc immobilier français passe de 12,7 millions à 21 millions de logements. Environ 8 millions de ceux-ci sont neufs, construits entre 1953-1975 – dont la moitié sous forme de grands ensembles – et près de 80 % des logements grâce à une aide de l’État avec des crédits publics. Le nombre de logements sociaux passe de moins de 500.000 à près de 3 millions, dont 43 % en région parisienne, où la demande est la plus forte[11]. Ce qui témoigne d’un effort énorme. Alors que l’hiver 1954 est particulièrement rigoureux, l’abbé Pierre lance un appel en faveur des sans-logis et déshérités et organise des collectes de vêtements et de nourriture pour les plus démunis. Cela nous rappelle également que les inégalités sociales restaient particulièrement importantes à l’époque, malgré les débuts de la croissance économique, et que la crise du logement n’était pas encore complètement résolue. C’est l’urbaniste Marcel Rotival dans un numéro d’Architecture d’Aujourd’hui de juin 1935 (vol.1, n°6, juin 1935, p.57) qui propose pour la première fois cette terminologie pour désigner les Habitations à Bon Marché (HBM) et leur transformation en Habitations à Loyer Modéré (HLM), par la loi du 21 juillet 1951: « Nous espérons, un jour, sortir des villes comme Paris, non seulement par l’avenue des Champs Elysées, la seule réalisation de tenue sans laquelle Paris n’existerait pas, mais sortir par Belleville, par Charonne, par Bobigny, etc., et trouver harmonieusement disposés le long de larges autostrades, au milieu de grands espaces boisés, de parcs, de stades, de grandes cités claires, bien orientées, lumineusement éclairées par le soleil. » Largement reprise depuis les années 1950 dans le jargon administratif et public, elle apparaît pour la première fois dans un texte officiel qu’en 1973 avec la Circulaire Guichard, alors Ministre de l’Aménagement du territoire, de l’Equipement, du Logement et du tourisme. Celui-ci met un terme à la politique initiée après-guerre afin « d’empêcher la réalisation des formes d’urbanisation désignées généralement sous le nom de “grands ensembles”, peu conforme aux aspirations des habitants et sans justification économique sérieuse ». Paradoxalement, le terme de grands ensembles s’officialise donc au moment même où ils son mis en question. ZUP est un acronyme qui signifie Zone à Urbaniser en Priorité. Elles ont été créées par le décret N°58-1464 du 31 décembre 1958, afin de planifier et d’encadrer sur le territoire national, le développement urbain pour répondre à la carence de logements face à l’accroissement démographique et favoriser enfin la résorption de l’habitat insalubre. This is an excellent plant which flowers basically all year round. It is dainty, and grows to about 60cm with shiny leaves and slender flower stems with velvety cerise little flowers giving a haze of colour. It needs a spot where it won't be overgrown by bigger plants. It does tolerate a bit of shade but is most floriferous in a sunny spot. It looks pretty with silver or cerise leaves nearby; pink or blue flowers are also attractive with it - it is very pretty in a cottage-style garden.

C'est en urgence que que suis revenue les prendre, car les massifs sont en cours de renouvellement, sur l'autre côté de la rue, ils étaient en train de les arracher quand nous allions à la boulangerie.
Et ça fait bizarre de voir le plateau du camion, tout fleuri, plein de pétunias et autres, encore très beaux qui partent au compost.

La mejor opción para lograr una ambientación exótica son los objetos étnicos, típicos de otras culturas. Suelen ser de maderas talladas, fibras tejidas, colores en la gama de los marrones, verdes, amarillos y anaranjados, terracotas, es decir, los predominantes en ambientes selváticos. Las máscaras de madera son una de las clásicas artesanías africanas.
Para marcar este estilo se utilizan también muebles de mimbre, alfombras, jarrones, objetos totémicos, piezas de cerámica, cestas e instrumentos musicales exóticos; los diseños pueden geométricos o imitando pieles de animales, tejidos artesanales o telas murales. Los colores, cálidos y la iluminación, tenue: velas, fanales rústicos o lamparas de papel, son elementos acordes.
Los estilos africano, asiático, oriental, tailandés, hindú, marroquí, son los que definen esta tendencia.
El mobiliario puede ser contemporáneo, aunque deben combinarse armónicamente con este estilo de ornamentos.

Dr. Richard Burr was a general physician before the start of the Civil War. After realizing the profit to be made as an embalming surgeon, he took up the cause and set to work. He served briefly with the 72nd PA Volunteer Infantry. Several sources testify that Burr was not the most reputable of undertakers. He was well noted for his price gouging and made a habit of selling and reselling the same grave marker for locally buried soldiers. There are also stories of him robbing the dead or dying as he scoured the battlefields. Despite this bad reputation, Dr. Burr is credited with designing the basic structure of modern arterial embalming in which the veins of the dead are filled with chemical preservatives in place of blood. As most victims bled to death, arterial embalming proved to be the path of least resistance. Burr injected the chemicals through an incisor in the armpit. It was fast, easy, left almost no marks on the body and by-passed the filling of the abdominal cavity altogether. With a pile of corpses to work on, speed was of the essence.
In the 1850s embalming had been chiefly used not to prepare bodies for funerals but to contribute to the study of anatomy and pathology by providing cadavers preserved for dissection.
It was during the war that embalming first became more widely practiced, not just generating a transformation in physical treatment of the dead but establishing a procedure that would serve as a foundation for the emergence of the funeral industry and the professionalization of the undertaker.
But more was operating here than purely practical concerns about how to arrest decomposition of bodies in order to ship them home. Americans did not want to endure the unprecedented separation from deceased kin that war had introduced. Families sought to see their lost loved ones in as lifelike a state as possible, not just to be certain of their identity but also to bid them farewell. Embalming offered families a way to combat at least some of the threats the war posed to the principles of the Good Death. To contemplate one’s husband, father, or son in a state of seemingly sleeplike repose was a means of resisting death’s terror—and even, to a degree, its reality; it offered a way of blurring the boundary between life and death. Corpses, at least those that had not been dismembered in combat, could be made to look lifelike, could be made to appear as if they were on the verge of awakening in a new life to come.

The Mosaic Pavement:

"The interior decoration of a masonic lodge comprises ornaments, accessories and insignia. The ornaments are: the mosaic on the floor - respresenting spirt and matter, the shining star and the laced edge, which remind us always the first of the presence of God and the second of the protective wall" - cites Charles W Leadbeater from the ritual of mixed masonry in his work "Freemasonry - Rites and Initiations."
In the center of the Temple, on the ground, there is a rectangular floor, with black and white tiles, called the mosaic pavement (theoretically, cubes seen perspectivally), where a relgaion obtains between the sides, either 2:1 (the long square) or 1.618.../1 (the golden number), thus coming up with a surface proportional to the total area of the Lodge. Thus we see that practically the moasica, placed in the center of the Lodge is a microcosmic representation of the whole of creation and is by itself a sacred central area - whence the interdiction to ever step on the mosaic when the work of the Lodge is underway. The pavement symbolizes the indisociable operative complementarity of the two cosmic principles: the initiate must know how no longer let himself be dominated by the confrontation between positive and negative forces, to know (it is indispensable) how to use it, to master it so as to work constructively.
In Ancient Egypt, the mosaic was never stepped on except by a candidate and the masters of ceremony, and only at precise moments (by the Past Worshipful Master for the fulfilment of his tasks, by the First Expert when he took the light of the sacred fire, or by the sexton when he spread frankincense on the altar of the Temple. An extremely important aspect of the mosaic pavement is that, being placed in the middle of the Temple, framed by the three colonettes (which represent the Worshipful Master, the Senior and Junior Wardens), must be avoided by walking in a square, in a symbolic sense. The current of energy cross the floor, some along the length, some along the width, in lines that remind of the warp of a canvas.
Upon opening the work, the Trestle Board is depicted on this pavement, which varies with the first three degrees. The mosaic pavement signifies different things according to the traditional mode of work in the lodge, or the masonic rite employed.
The French Rite specifies that the pavement adorned the threshold of the geat porch of the Temple and showed that this is one of the ornaments of the Lodge, being the emblem of the intimate union among masons. Here it was explained to the Apprentice that he "could not stand on the mosaic pavement to contemplate the interior of the edifice". This started above from the seventh step, as we can well conclude by an attentive research of the Trestle Boards of the first two degrees.
The Rectified Scottish Rite speaks too little of this pavement, noting that "the mosaic pavement adorns the threshold of the great veranda of the Temple. It covers the entry to the subterranean part of the Temple between the two columns, to a crypt that held holy idols and especially the pledge of the alliance between the chosen people and the Creator: the Royal Ark (Ark of the Covenant).
The Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite does not describe in any way this ornament. As to the decoration of the Lodge, it is said however "the floor of the lodge is the pavement in alternative black and white squares. When it is thus decorated, a pavement is achieved wit the shape of a long square, placed in the center of the Lodge, decorated on the model of the latter".
The York Rite affirms that "the mosaic pavement represents the floor of the Temple of Solomon", having the added laced edge. It is obvious enough that it is about a symbolic contribution in what regards the floor of the Lodge, because in the Bible the floor of the Temple isn't described as an series of black and white squares: "and the floor of the Temple was made from cypress planks" (3 Kings 6:15).
Whereas in the Emulation Rite (the Anglo-Saxon Rites are more precise in their descriptions) specifies that "the mosaic pavement may rightly be considered the wondrous tiling of a freemason Lodge due to its diversity and regularity. Thus the diversity of beings and objects in the world surfaces, as well the ensouled ones as those that are not". In the complementary course of the Rite of Emulation (in the fifth part) it is specified: "our lodge is adorned with mosaic pavement to mark the uncertainty of all terrestrial vanities... as we step on this mosaic, our thought must return to the original idea that we imitate and act as honorable men and masons". Mosaic pavement is presented as an image of faith, harmony, understanding.
Outside the definitions offered by different masonic rites, the mosaic pavement may be approached under many aspect, two of which seem edifying to us:
• The floor of the Lodge,
• The route of squares for the tracing of planes,
When we approach the mosaic pavement as floor of the Lodge, we are forced to distinguish between the pavement of operative and speculative Lodges.
In the first case, we specify that Lodges were usually annexes to the construction site, attached to the construction on the Southern side of the Work (to receive more light and to have the wall of the edifice for protection. It is extremely clear and evident that in this case no floor was imposed (nor would any be functional). The tiling that constitutes the mosaic is fragile in contradiction with the dimensions (weight) of the tools of freemasons (sledgehammers were very heavy). If we are talking about a surface for permanent cutting and polishing of rock, we can easily imagine that the floor of such a place was permanently covered by fragments, remains, abrasive dust. Not in the last place, we must note the fact that mosaic was principally fixed in especially prepared mortar in which designs were first marked that etched the image or drawing that was the purpose of the mosaic.
In the other approach, that of the speculative Lodges, a symbolic rug laid in squares may be laid on the floor, or it may be build from alternating black and white tiles, the decision being that of the Lodge. The notionc of mosaic pavement cannot be discussed before the appearance of Grand Lodges.
As a route of squares - as network of right angles - to trace planes is another mode of approach specific to operative lodges, which must distinguish:
A directory route of the edifice that must be understood after we describe the Medieval constructin site at the beginning of the work: on a leveled and cleared surface (treated with charcoal), a scheme of the main lines of the edifice was traced with the help of a rope covered in chalk. There
are documents to this effect that attest the describe practice, which reminds of certain answers from the masonic catechism. To the question: "how do you serve your Master?", there is the answer: "with charcoal, chalk and clay".
A technical assistance set of squares would be another variant of this approach. An amenably arranged surface, spread in regular squares through lines traced for inumerable uses, the first and most important being that of assembly table. It also served to establish easily a series of angles, in an approximate way that was sufficient for a mason (taking four divisions on a line, and on the perpendicular seven at one extremity, a reasaonbly 60° angle is obtained). In fact, we can imagine the banal math copybook paper that has helped us trace with more facility (and more precision) the geometrical shapes that tortured (or didn't) us in the geometry problems in elementary school.
The black and white, chessboard-like pavement is thus the mosaic pavement. In what pertains to the term "mosaic", there are two different opinions, one refering to Moses and one to the technique of decoration. Each school has its pros and cons, more or less logical and valid.

Anything is characterized by a combination of good and bad, light and shadow, joy and sadness, positive and negative, yin and yang. What is good for me may be bad for you, pleasure is generated by pain, etc.
Following the thread of the current Paper, we may say with certainty that the mosaic is not mart of the elements of Judaic architecture and that the mosaic pavement is a contribution of modern speculative Masonry, operative lodges never having been squared this way. It is obvious that the current exposition is not and does not wish to be an exhaustive work. It is a somewhat complex approach of an important symbol in the decoration of the masonic Temple and it wishes in fact to the a paper addressing an open question:
- The mosaic pavement is the floor of the Lodge (as the rituals consider it) or is it the space limited by the three pillars Power, Wisdom, and Beauty?

The blazing star pattern used, is usually that of the "pentalpha", or five pointed star with intermediate flames. This star is primarily the symbol of divine providence and can be found in our mosaic pavement. The five points should remind us also of other masonic "fives". The five orders of arch itecture, the five points of fellowship, the five senses and the five who must be present in order for a Lodge to be held. The star is also said to represent the Morning Star which is yet another symbol of rebirth which is so significant to each of us.
I should point out that there is a six pointed star or hexalpha which is also known as the "Glory". This six pointed star is the
Seal of Solomon and also the Star of David. This star is also represented on the carpet at times and there is distinct confusion in the texts over which star is THE star to use. The primary symbolic meaning of the six pointed star is the universe as an entity.

The European Stonechat (Saxicola rubicola) is a small passerine bird that was formerly classed as a subspecies of the Common Stonechat. Long considered a member of the thrush family Turdidae, genetic evidence has placed it and its relatives in the Old World flycatcher family Muscicapidae. It is slightly smaller than the European Robin. Both sexes have distinctively short wings. The summer male has black upperparts, a black head, an orange throat and breast, and a white belly and vent. It also has white half-collar on the sides of its neck, a small white scapular patch on the wings, and a very small white patch on the rump often streaked with black. European Stonechats breed in heathland, coastal dunes and rough grassland with scattered small shrubs and bramble, open gorse, tussocks or heather. They are short-distance migrants or non-migratory. The male's song is high and twittering like a Dunnock. Both sexes have a clicking call like stones knocking together. Saxicola rubicola hibernans occurs in northwestern Europe in Atlantic coastal areas, in southwestern Norway, Great Britain, Ireland and northwestern France. (wikipedia)
This winter-plumaged female was holding territory with a male on Bull Island, Co. Dublin. Great to see this species rebounding after the hard winters in 2010/2011.

`Babo Pithoro' is a ritual painting style of the Rathwas that springs from their faith in the village witch doctor's powers to heal all grievances. ``The witch doctor, or lakahara, is held in highest esteem by the Rathwas who seek his consultation for any ill that befalls a family. It is he who visualizes the Babo Pithoro and directs the family to organise the ritual to bade away the evil by invoking the gods,'' said Ghosalkar.
The five-day ceremony is extensive and expensive, sometimes costing the family as much as Rs 30,000. While the preparation starts 15 days in advance with the family going door-to-door with invitations, the first 24 hours are devoted to the painting, inside the host's house followed by the ind, a ceremony invoking the gods by carving sculptures of 11 teak wood pillars. Alongside, is song, dance, food, locally brewed wines, tadi and mahura and merry-making.
A small group of painters chitaras are assigned the job of completing the painting within 24 hours under the supervision of the lakhara who decides on the figures to be painted, their position and the colours to be used. An offering of a slain chicken and wine is first made to the deity (Gamdev) at the makund, the holiest site in the village. The work starts from the wall on the left side of the house with the figure of the evil bhootdev followed by sequential paintings of ancestors, warriors, horses, the sun and moon and traditional Pithora figurines. No shade of black is used in the paintings, as it is considered inauspicious by the tribals.

Pithora is a ritualistic painting done on the walls by the Rathwa and Bhilala tribes who live in central Madhya Pradesh. Pithora paintings are executed on three inner walls of their houses. These paintings have significance in their lives and executing the Pithora paintings in their homes brings peace, prosperity and happiness. There is never an attempt to imitate nature: a horse or a bull, which might be a vision of a god, impresses him with only one central quality.
Pithora paintings are more of a ritual than an art form. These rituals are performed either to thank God or for a wish or a boon to be granted. The Bhadwa or the head priest of the tribe is summoned and the problems are narrated. These problems can vary from dying cattle, to unwell children in the family. The concerned person is given a solution and is asked, by the Bhadwa, to perform the ritual and the painting. The presence of Pithora Baba is considered as a solution to all the problems. A Pithora is always located at the threshold, or the Osari, outside the first front wall or inside on the walls of the first room as one enters a house. The painting usually floods the entire wall with figures. Three walls are prepared for the painting, the front wall and the two on either side of it. The front or central wall is very large, twice the size of each of the sidewalls. These walls are treated with two layers of cow dung paste and one layer of white chalk powder. Unmarried girls bring in these materials. This procedure is called Lipna. The main wall of the verandah that divides it from the kitchen is considered sacred to the Pithoro. The wall paintings related to the legends of creation and Pithoro, are done on this wall. The two sidewalls of the veranda are also painted with figures of minor deities, ghosts and ancestors.

Bienvenido a este experimento público llamado ‘Vampiros’. Lo que ves acá es el resultado de un trabajo de muchas personas que salió al dominio público durante el año 2013. Todos juntos construimos un escenario para reflexionar sobre una enfermedad llamada dengue. Más que respuestas buscamos preguntas a través de un ejercicio sensorial.
Durante mi PhD busco desarrollar un estudio antropológico sobre la creación y negociación de diferentes formas de conocimiento alrededor del dengue.
Actualmente me encuentro en Medellín (Colombia) desarrollando la fase de campo de mi PhD. El objetivo central de mi proyecto es explorar cómo la antropología, en conjunto con ideas y prácticas derivadas del arte y la ciencia, puede transformar la comprensión pública del dengue.

"Tausende Menschen stehen auf gegen Judenhass"

"Wir wollen, dass sich Juden in Deutschland sicher fühlen." Dies war die zentrale Botschaft von Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel auf der vom Zentralrat der Juden veranstalteten Kundgebung "Steh auf! Nie wieder Judenhass" in Berlin. Es müsse klar sein, dass jüdisches Leben zu uns gehöre und Deutschland "unsere gemeinsame Heimat ist". Angriffe gegen Juden rüttelten "an den Fundamenten unserer freiheitlichen Gesellschaft"
Was zu anderen Gelegenheiten als Fußball-Fanmeile dient, stand an diesem Sonntag im Zeichen der Solidarität gegen einen sich ausbreitenden Judenhass in Deutschland. Bis zum Beginn der Manifestation hatte sich die Straße des 17. Juni am Brandenburger Tor mit rund 5000 Demonstranten gefüllt. Unzählige Israelfahnen wehten, ein großes Transparent forderte "Frieden – Schalom", andere "Wachsamkeit gegen Antisemitismus".

Außer Spruchbändern von jüdischen Gemeinden und der Deutsch-Israelischen Gesellschaft war unter anderem das einer kleinen Kolonie der FDP zu erkennen. Eine Gruppe hielt neben der Israelflagge Fahnen in den Nationalfarben der Ukraine hoch, und sogar eine kleine Abordnung einer "Republik Biafra" bekundete ihre Solidarität mit den Juden und dem jüdischen Staat.
Im abgesperrten VIP-Bereich direkt vor der Rednertribüne gaben sich Repräsentanten eines breiten Querschnitts aus Politik und Gesellschaft in großer Einmütigkeit ein einträchtiges Stelldichein. Die Fraktionsvorsitzenden aller im Bundestag vertretenen Parteien waren ebenso erschienen wie der SPD-Vorsitzende Sigmar Gabriel und Außenminister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, DFB-Präsident Wolfgang Niersbach, Verdi-Chef Frank Bsirske und Ex-Außenminister Joschka Fischer, aber auch Aiman Mayzek, der Vorsitzende des Zentralrats der Muslime. Bemerkenswerterweise war in der ersten Reihe, direkt neben der Bundeskanzlerin, Ex-Bundespräsident Christian Wulff platziert.
"Schlimmsten antisemitischen Parolen seit vielen, vielen Jahrzehnten"
Judenfeindliche Hassparolen und Übergriffe hatten in den vergangenen Monaten die jüdischen Gemeinden in Deutschland zutiefst schockiert und verunsichert. Wie in anderen europäischen Ländern kam es auch hierzulande auf propalästinensischen Demonstrationen gegen die israelische Militäraktion in Gaza zu antisemitischen Ausfällen, die in ihrer Aggressivität das überstiegen, was auf deutschen Straßen bisher schon an judenhasserischer Agitation zu vernehmen war.
So scheuten sich antiisraelische Demonstranten in verschiedenen deutschen Städten nicht, die Parole "Hamas, Hamas, Juden ins Gas" zu skandieren. In der Folge kam es auch zu gewalttätigen Übergriffen gegen jüdische Bürger sowie gegen Synagogen, etwa mit Molotowcocktails. Überdies ist im Internet eine Welle brutalster Hetze gegen Juden zu verzeichnen.
Dieter Graumann, Präsident des Zentralrats der Juden in Deutschland, erklärte dazu, er wolle nicht dramatisieren, aber "das waren wirklich die schlimmsten antisemitischen Parolen seit vielen, vielen Jahrzehnten". Er habe in dieser Situation ausreichend Empathie der deutschen Gesellschaft erwartet. Graumann begrüßte sehr herzlich die Gäste und Redner des Tages, an erster Stelle Bundespräsident Joachim Gauck. Angela Merkel, die Hauptrednerin des Nachmittags, hieß er er als "treue Freundin der jüdischen Gemeinde" willkommen, die mit ihrer Zusage, auf dieser Kundgebung zu sprechen, "nicht eine Sekunde gezögert" habe.
Dass die deutsche Politik und Gesellschaft hier in solcher Geschlossenheit vertreten sei und so viele Teilnehmer gekommen seien, beweise den deutschen Juden: "Wir sind doch nicht allein. Zusammen sind wir viele, und wenn wir alle zusammenstehen, wird uns keine Macht der Welt etwas anhaben können." Er bekräftigte, dass sich die jüdischen Bürger nicht einschüchtern lassen: "Das Judentum in Deutschland hat Zukunft."
Freilich habe er sich schon gefragt, warum wieder die Juden selbst zu einer solchen Manifestation hätten aufrufen mussten, und eine solche Initiative nicht auch einmal von nichtjüdischen Institutionen ausgehen könne. Der EKD-Vorsitzende Nikolaus Schneider, der neben dem Regierenden Bürgermeister Klaus Wowereit, dem Vorsitzenden der Deutschen Bischofskonferenz, Reinhard Marx, und Ronald Lauder, dem Präsidenten des Jüdischen Weltkongresses, das Wort an die Versammlung richtete, reagierte in seiner Ansprache auf diese Mahnung: "Ich habe mir das gut gemerkt."
Schneider erinnerte daran, dass die christlichen Kirchen in ihrer Geschichte zur Entstehung des Antisemitismus beigetragen hätten. Es sei deshalb zu einfach, mit dem Finger nur auf muslimischen Judenhass zu zeigen. Vielmehr gelte es, selbstkritisch auch eigene Überreste der verhängnisvollen antijüdischen Tradition zu hinterfragen. Es gelte nun unmissverständlich auszusprechen: "Antisemitismus ist Sünde gegen den heiligen Geist, ist Gotteslästerung."
"Wir sind Freunde. Für immer"
Kardinal Marx bekräftigte dies, indem er für die Katholische Kirche, den Juden zurief: "Wir sind Freunde. Für immer." Er dankte Lauder dafür, dass sich der Jüdische Weltkongress vehement für die Verteidigung der grausam verfolgten Christen im Nahen Osten einsetze. Schon daher könnten sich die Juden ihrerseits der Solidarität der Christen sicher sein. Marx erinnerte daran, dass wir der Bibel den "revolutionärsten" Gedanken aller Zeiten zu verdanken hätten: dass "alle Menschen gleich und Ebenbilder Gottes sind".
Dafür, dass es uns diese Botschaft, die eine der Grundlagen unserer Zivilisation bilde, überliefert habe, "sind wir dem Volk Israel dankbar". Lauder selbst verwies auf die Anstrengungen, die Deutschland nach dem Ende des Nationalsozialismus zur Überwindung von Judenhass unternommen habe. "Wir werden uns die Früchte von 70 Jahren Zusammenarbeit nicht von einem Haufen Extremisten zerstören lasen", rief er aus. Diese hassten nicht nur die Juden, sondern die ganze demokratische Welt.
Alle Redner betonten, Kritik an der israelischen Regierungspolitik könne niemals Judenfeindschaft und eine Dämonisierung und Delegitimierung des jüdischen Staats rechtfertigen. So rief Wowereit aus: "Deutschland steht ohne Wenn und Aber zum Existenzrecht Israels." Auch waren alle Redner bemüht, klarzustellen, dass sie keineswegs alle Muslime für den islamistischen Judenhass verantwortlich machten und gleichermaßen Angriffe auf Moscheen verurteilten. Dennoch, betonte Graumann, müssten die muslimischen Verbände noch viel mehr tun, um die erschreckende Entwicklung in den eigenen Reihen zu bekämpfen: "Wann, wenn nicht jetzt?"

The European Storm Petrel, British Storm Petrel or just Storm Petrel (Hydrobates pelagicus) is a seabird in the storm petrel family, Hydrobatidae. It is the only member of the genus Hydrobates. The small, square-tailed bird is entirely black except for a broad white rump and a white band on the underwings, and it has a fluttering, bat-like flight. The large majority of the population breeds on islands off the coasts of Europe, with the greatest numbers in the Faroe Islands, United Kingdom, Ireland and Iceland. The Mediterranean population is a separate subspecies, but is inseparable at sea from its Atlantic relatives; its strongholds are Filfla Island (Malta), Sicily and the Balearic Islands.
The Storm Petrel nests in crevices and burrows, sometimes shared with other seabirds or rabbits, and lays a single white egg, usually on bare soil. The adults share the lengthy incubation and both feed the chick, which is not normally brooded after the first week. This bird is strongly migratory, spending the northern hemisphere winter mainly off the coasts of South Africa and Namibia, with some birds stopping in the seas adjoining West Africa, and a few remaining near their Mediterranean breeding islands. This petrel is strictly oceanic outside the breeding season. It feeds on small fish, squid and zooplankton while pattering on the sea's surface, and can find oily edible items by smell. The food is converted in the bird's stomach to an oily orange liquid which is regurgitated when the chick is fed. Although usually silent at sea, the Storm Petrel has a chattering call given by both members of a pair in their courtship flight, and the male has a purring song given from the breeding chamber.
The Storm Petrel cannot survive on islands where land mammals such as rats and cats have been introduced, and it suffers natural predation from gulls, skuas, owls and falcons. Although the population may be declining slightly, this petrel is classified by the International Union for Conservation of Nature as being of Least Concern due to its high total numbers. Its presence in rough weather at sea has led to various mariners' superstitions, and, by analogy, to its use as a symbol by revolutionary and anarchist groups.
Storm Petrels breed only in the Western Palaearctic on islands off the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts of Europe. The largest colonies are in the Faroe Islands (150,000-400,000 pairs), United Kingdom (20,000-150,000), Ireland (50,000-100,000) and Iceland (50,000-100,000), with smaller breeding areas off Norway, Malta, Spain, the Canary Islands, Italy, France and Greece. Ramses heeft hier een afbeelding van een giftige slang op zijn voorhoofd; dat was het teken van de machtige cobragodin Wadjet. Ramses dacht dat die slang hem kon beschermen en vuur spuwen naar zijn vijanden.

Ramses II wordt wel beschouwd als de grootste farao aller tijden. Hij was een groot veldheer en bouwer. Hij liet onder andere Aboe Simbel en het Ramesseum bouwen en breidde ook verschillende andere tempels uit. Daar is de tempel van Abydos wellicht het beste voorbeeld van. Bovendien liet hij een nieuwe hoofdstad in de Nijldelta bouwen om zo eerder te kunnen reageren op een Hettitische aanval. Hij had vele vrouwen, waaronder Nefertari, die een van de mooiste graven in de Vallei der Koninginnen heeft. Zelf is Ramses begraven in de Vallei der Koningen (graf DK 7). Zijn mummie bevindt zich heden ten dage in Caïro.
Op de leeftijd van veertien jaar werd hij tot co-regent benoemd. Hij bereikte een zeer hoge leeftijd (waarschijnlijk negentig jaar) en vierde daardoor vele Sed-festivals. Mogelijk was hij ook farao ten tijde van de Exodus. Hij overleed na een regering van maar liefst 66 jaar en 2 maanden en werd opgevolgd door zijn dertiende zoon Merenptah.

In het begin van zijn regering vocht hij een grote veldslag uit, met de Hettieten, bij Kadesh. Hij riep zichzelf uit als grote overwinnaar van deze slag terwijl hij dat in feite niet was. Door een valstrik van de Hettieten, leed zijn leger al snel heel erg zware verliezen. Al bij de eerste aanval verloor Ramses twee van de vier divisies van vijfduizend man die hij bij zich had. Ramses kon ontsnappen, geholpen door de laatste divisie en de elite-krijgers van zijn leger die hem te hulp schoten. In de jaren hierna onderhandelde hij met de Hettieten over een verdrag om zich zo gezamenlijk te weren tegen de dreiging uit Assyrië. De originele tekst van het verdrag is bewaard gebleven:

Screen Test is a rock show, a video installation, and a theatre piece, developed by Theo Kogan and her band, Theo and the Skyscrapers, together with video artist Rob Roth. We arrived at Innisfree as soon as it opened at 10AM one mid-August morning when the entire Northeastern US was in the middle of a record heatwave. Despite the heat and humidity, we were able to make a quick 1.5 mile circle on the path around the deep glacial lake at the heart of this 150 acre garden before we wilted and had to return to our air conditioned car. The harsh mid-day light made photography challenging, as you can see. We learned that Innisfree, said by some to be one of the world's Ten Great Gardens, opens at sunrise on three occasions each year, and we are already planning another trip to the Hudson River Valley in the future when we hope we can see and photograph this amazing place under better conditions.

"In the late 1920s, Walter Beck and his wife, avid gardener and heiress Marion Burt Beck, began work on Innisfree, their country residence in Millbrook, New York. Walter Beck’s fascination with Asian art influenced his painting, the collecting he and his wife pursued, and their ideas on garden design. In the 1930s, Beck discovered the work of 8th-century Chinese poet, painter and garden maker Wang Wei. Studying scroll paintings of his famed garden, the Wangchuan Villa, Beck observed that Wang created carefully defined, inwardly focused gardens and garden vignettes within a larger, naturalistic landscape. Wang’s place-making technique — christened “cup gardens,” by Beck — influenced centuries of Chinese and Japanese garden design. It is also the principal design motif in the Innisfree landscape. Like his Chinese predecessor, Beck created three-dimensional pictures in the garden, incorporating both rocks from the site and horticultural advice from his wife. Unlike Wang Wei, or perhaps more familiar figures like Lawrence Johnston, who used his cup-like rooms at Hidcote in England to draw one through a sequence of events and create an overall sense of place, Beck focused more on individual compositions. Relating these to each other and to the landscape as a whole was the genius of Lester Collins."
The genius of this place lies not so much in the ideas which the designers formulated for the cup gardens, many of which are disarmingly simple, but in the way they have been maintained over the years. Essentially, everything is allowed to settle into the prevailing spirit of the place; if it does not, it is removed. It is this sensitivity, care and attention to the qualities of landscape, natural and made, that make Innisfree such a memorable success.
