A little HTML email piece that was just completed for an upcoming internal event here at Simmons. Mad props to Shaun for a good part of the inspiration on this. I'm loving that folded paper banner look.

Kowloon Park
Hong-Kong
Located in the central zone of Tsim Sha Tsui in Hong Kong, Kowloon Park is one of the largest parks in Kowloon, covering an area of about 13.5 hectares (about 33 acres). It is said to be the 'green lung' at the centre of city.
The park was opened by the then Governor, Sir David Trench on June 24th. In 1989, it was rebuilt, funded by the former Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club at a cost of about HK$300 million.
The park was built in a classical Chinese style, and is visited by many tourists. Flowers and trees are plenty in the park. There is an attractive variety of rarely-seen beautiful birds and flowers.
The park boasts an abundance of scenic spots and enough establishments for tourists to enjoy themselves. The scenic spots mainly include the Maze Garden, Color Garden, Chinese Garden, Roof Gardens, Banyan Court and Bird Lake. And the establishments comprise a mini soccer pitch, the Fitness Trail, Children's Playground, Discovery Playground, Sculpture Walk & Sculpture Garden, a piazza, an aviary, a swimming pool and a sports center. The swimming pool is one of the best equipped in Hong Kong and can hold 1,500 people.
From 07:30 to 09:30 on Fridays, the park provides the activity of watching birds for tourists free of charge. The gathering point is at the arcade of the park. And from 14:30 to 16:30 on Sundays, there are free performances on the Sculpture Walk, including lion/dragon dance and different disciplines of martial arts. Additionally, from 13:00 to 19:00 on Sundays and public holidays, at the loggia of the park exit, there are many stalls selling Chinese traditional handworks, calligraphy and many other souvenirs.
Next to the park is the Park Lane Shopper's Boulevard which imitates the American style. The shops there mainly sell the clothes from the native or abroad, which are very popular with the young people. After shopping, you can go to the park and find a comfortable place for a rest.

Since 2001 we have been trying to find Digiscope solutions, from the perfect camera, adapters, lenses, eyepieces, scopes and mounting systems. Now we have great camera, lenses, eyepieces Super Scopes and mounting systems. To my way of thinking Adapters have always been a challenge and the weakest link in Digiscoping. The Manufactures of the adapters have been camera brand specific, over engineered, or have depended on the filter threads of a camera or camera lens to support totally the weight of the camera. No Good, I promise that no lens manufacture would recommend that. Referring to the term “over engineered” I am referring to adapters like the swing models. Personally I believe that they lack support for the camera and seem to be easily damaged while in the field. The new ATX/STX Swarovski seems to have corrected the major concern of camera support, not depending of the filter threads to support the camera system unlike the DCA or the DA-10 from Kowa what I currently use. I have broken in half 4 lenses in the past years using those systems before I tried Support Brackets like the TSN-DA3. Support brackets are great; the scope, eyepiece, adapter and camera are now one secure solid piece if one can remember to lock everything down. I have to confess that due to my negligence of not checking to see if everything was tightened I have send a Scope in for repair and ruined an expensive DSLR when it smashed on the asphalt road. Weight is another issue. The Kowa TSN-DA3 Digiscope Support Bracket weighs 2.58 pounds. The one I own went to a machine shop and all none structural Aluminum was milled away cutting the weight to just over 2 pounds. Some of my days in the field carry me 8 or more miles walking. So like a back packer every pound counts. Up until now the TSN-DA3 was very important to keep my kit functioning and secure. So I carried that 2 + additional pounds.
At the Space Coast Festival two different people showed me a new Adapter. Angie “just a birder” bought one she is excited and bragging about hers. It was of high quality machined Aluminum that will work with 4/3 camera as well as some DSLR and P&S cameras. A minor sleeve change (inner ring) and it will adapt to any spotting scope eyepiece. It is not expensive and best of all the weight of the camera stresses the scope not the filter threads of the lens. There for a support bracket is not necessary, cutting my carry weight 2+ pounds. I ordered one.
Yesterday I received my Digidapter. I watched the video on www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVGfQTd8UPQl for quick assembly instructions. I inspected it for deficits like over engineering or a key feature not considered. I could not any faults. It was designed for quality, for the speed and smoothness in mounting the camera on a scope coming back to same position each time without adjustment or alignment.
•The fasteners are of the highest quality, brass and stainless.
•The screw design for mounting the camera in the tripod mount is superior.
•The brass stop screws on the mounting plate are designed for finger tightening, no fear of stripping the brass parts from over tightening. The camera comes back to the same spot every time.
•The elevation plate has milled slots so only the provided Allen key is necessary to lock the camera in place.
•The camera does not have to be removed from the Digidapter to replace batteries and flash cards. .
• Coupling the camera to the eyepiece is a breeze. Close tolerance machining and the highest quality anodizing is why it is smooth and easy.
•To change from one scope manufacture to another or if the eyepiece is different in size all that is needed is a different inner ring, all of the other parts will remain the same. This means for those scope owners that would like a functional adapter for a Pentax, Celestron, Vortex or Vanguard scope it is now available at a reasonable price.
•Overall, it is solid and functional, easy to use, returns to the same position with each mounting. No binding, pieces glide together, no effort. Precision and effortless in use, protecting the camera and eyepiece from stress damage. No adapter that I have seen mounts the camera and has it ready to shoot faster, safer and with more precision.
•The Digidapter is the best I have seen.
The big question at the Space Coast Festival was would the new 20mm f/1.7 ll ASPH Lumix lens works with this adapter. That lens is short like a Pancake lens but it is about 2 inches in diameter. I phoned my order to Paul Sayegh the owner and designer of the Digidapter. We spent hours on the phone discussing the 4/3s and some of the unique lenses that this system is creating. I had the lens in hand with a pair of dial calipers. I measured and re-measured the key points of the lens and measurement in relation to the camera. I took and then emailed to Paul the photos of the GX 7 and lens and added the measurement to the photos. After receiving the photos we talked again and at Paul’s request I re-measured everything once more. In three days I received my Digidapter and it was perfect.
Paul is an engineer, a designer, a communicator and a great machinist with an advanced knowledge of stress and tolerances. Paul is a big lens photographer that found Digiscoping and knows the importance of Digiscoping as a tool in photography. Digidapter and Paul Sayegh deserve our support.

So, here it is, the reason I drove across Norfolk: Trunch in all it's glory And it is glorious.
It has so many fascinating details, each one alone would be reason enough to visit, but together, in a fine village, next to the village pub, and with that font canopy, one of only four such in all of England, and one of two in the county.
-------------------------------------------
The oldest building in Trunch is St. Botolph's Church. It is mainly 14th. and 15th. Century but there are some fragments of stone in the walls which are believed to have been reused from an earlier Saxon church, which was recorded in the Domesday Book. There is much of interest in the church including a Rood Screen, a hammer beam roof and a rare Font Canopy.
trunchhistory.weebly.com/buildings.html
--------------------------------------------
The large village of Trunch is located about 5 miles from the north Norfolk coast. In the centre of the village, surrounded by a lovely collection of cottages and the more modern Crossroads Inn, is St Botolph's church. Much of what you see of the church is early 15th century, built upon earlier foundations.
Upon entering the church the first feature you will see is the font, which dates to the mid 14th century. Though the font is attractive, it is the carved and painted font canopy that really makes a visit to Trunch worthwhile.
This is a quite remarkable piece of woodwork, one of only four such canopies surviving in the entire country (the others are at St Peter Mancroft in Norwich, Durham Cathedral, and Luton). The canopy is supported on six beautifully carved legs. The carving detail is exquisite; with fanciful animal figures and foliage and a bit of political commentary, in the shape of a pig wearing a bishop's mitre.
In addition to the font canopy, Trunch features a superb 15th century hammer beam roof, a feature of many churches in Norfolk and Suffolk. Here the carvings of angels are beautifully performed. It is worth bringing along a pair of binoculars or a telescope in order to see the carvings properly.
Much easier to see are the medieval misericords (mercy seats) in the chancel. Each carving is unique; some represent angels, and others are more grotesque in nature. In addition there are some beautifully carved pew ends and a painted medieval rood screen that rivals many more famous churches in detail and colour.
There are 12 niches in the screen, each painted with a depiction of a single figure - 11 disciples plus St Paul. Much of the costume detail is well preserved, but the faces of the figures were destroyed during the upheavals of the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century.

William Earl Warren had the lordship of this town, (fn. 1) of which 3 freemen were deprived; one of them belonged to Herold, late King of England, another to Ralph Stalre, and the 3d to Ketel, who held 90 acres of land, and 14 borderers belonged to it, with 5 carucates among them; there was a church endowed with 10 acres, &c. 3 acres of meadow always valued at 30s. and there were also 5 freemen of Edric in King Edward's time, who had 34 acres of land, with 2 carucates, 2 acres and an half of meadow, always valued at 7s. 4d. (fn. 2)
This town also belonged to the Earl Warren's capital manor of Gimmingham, and paid suit and service to it. In the 34th of Henry III. Maud de Norwich granted by fine, to Richer, son of Nicholas, a messuage, 48 acres of land, a mill, and the sixth part of another in this town, Swathefeld and Bradfeld. In the 15th of Edward I. the Earl Warren claimed a weekly mercate, on Saturday, in this manor; and on the death of John Earl Warren, in the 21st of Edward III. the mercate was valued at 10s. per ann. the manor came after to the Earl of Lancaster, (as is before observed,) and so to John of Gaunt Duke of Lancaster, and King Henry IV. and is still in the Crown, as part of the dutchy of Lancaster.
The tenths were 4l. 10s. deducted 15s.
The Church is dedicated to St. Botolph, and is a regular pile, with a nave, 2 isles, and a chancel covered with lead, and has a tower with 4 bells.

¶The patronage of the church was granted to the priory of Castleacre, by William Earl Warren, the first on his founding that priory. In the reign of Edward I. the rector had a manse, and 13 acres of land valued at 16 marks, Peter-pence 13d. and the prior of Castleacre had a pension or portion of tithe valued at 40s. the present valor is 10l. 13s. 4d. and pays first fruits, &c. the Norwich registers say that William, the second Earl Warren, granted the patronage, and Eborard Bishop of Norwich, confirmed it; and that Simon the Bishop confirmed the pension in 1268.

Trunch is the largest of the villages between North Walsham and the sea; but as all the industrialisation and tawdry caravan sites are hard against the coast, and Trunch is several miles inland, it has avoided these excesses and retains a great rural charm. It has a magnificent church with lots of fascinating treasures, as well as a shop, a green, a pub run by an ex-professional footballer, and generally all the typical features you expect to find in a large village in deepest rural Norfolk.
The church is perhaps the most interesting of all round about; and, while the large village lends it an urban quality that lacks the charm of, say, the churches of neighbouring Edingthorpe and Crostwight, it has by no means the Victorianised sterility of those at Bacton or Happisburgh.
St Botolph is a big church, and its tight graveyard makes it rather hard to photograph. The whole piece seems to have been rebuilt in the early 15th century, although the chancel may be a little later, and there is a hint of Decorated about the nave. The tower is quite simple, even slight. It builds boldly enough, but at the top of the second stage fades into a simple bell stage, understated, elegant and probably intended. This is not a building that shouts at you. A curiosity is the massive priest porch surrounding the door in the chancel. These are very unusual, although there is another, smaller one at neighbouring Knapton.
The great treasure, of course, is the marvellous font canopy. It is particularly fascinating because of its date, coming in the early 16th century right on the eve of the English protestant reformation. Like all church furnishings at this time - the tombs at Oxborough, for instance - it gives us a hint of what the English renaissance might have been like if it had been allowed to flower. Here, the massive structure tumbles with intricacy; fruit and flowers, leopards and lions peep around the silvery oak of the six octagonal columns which are fluted with interlocking chains of detail. The glory is the massive crown of canopied niches, with the haunting ghosts of crucifixion groups still apparent on three of the faces. The whole thing is at once in perfect harmony with the west end of the church, but exists because it was believed to be beautiful rather than known to be useful. There is only one other font canopy in Norfolk, at St Peter Mancroft in Norwich; Outside of the county there is another at Durham Cathedral, and a fourth at the parish church in Luton - but that is it.
Above the canopy is a rich 15th century hammerbeam roof, by no means as dramatic as that at nearby Knapton, but more beautiful, I think. In the space beneath the tower there is what appears to be a gallery like the plough guild gallery at Cawston. This is not as elaborate, but its oak has silvered and it is painted beautifully with trailing rose foliage.
The benching, unfortunately, is pretty much all 19th century, but along with the font canopy and roof the medieval screen survives. Like the canopy, this is richly ornamented in relief, including a bold dedicatory inscription in diagonal ribbons across the top part of the dado. The twelve figures (11 disciples and St Paul) are boldly placed and coloured, but their faces have been completely vandalised by the 16th century reformers. Low down on the north side of the doorway is a rare surviving carved consecration cross, suggesting that this screen was already installed in the newly built church of the 15th century. The screen had detached buttressing running vertically at intervals in front of it, as at Ludham. They have been almost entirely destroyed, but you can still see the fixings between the panels. It must have been magnificent.
The return stalls in the chancel are pretty much all Victorian, but they retain medieval misericords, and also you can see quatrefoil holes set into a sounding chamber to amplify the singing. There is a very curious memorial above the priest door, featuring the instruments of the passion. I have no idea how old it is.
All of these features would be enough, but part of the attraction of St Botolph is the sense of harmony, the way everything works together. You can add to these the sedilia, the magnificent organ, and the modern design of the glass in the east window. It is a peaceful, inspiring space.
Cottages and houses hem in the graveyard, and in the corner is the modern pub. Incidentally, I don't really know if the bloke who runs it is an ex-professional footballer. But, like many rural Norfolk landlords, he seems to be a cheerful 40-something cockney who serves a decent pint and cheap food - a recommended stop for churchcrawlers.

Our Lady & The English Martyrs, Cambridge
stepneyrobarts.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/our-lady-english-ma...
Yesterday I revisited St Peter for internals and finished of Cambridge, visiting seven Victorian built churches only one of which, Our Lady & The English Martyrs, is worth writing up.
At first sight I wrote OLEM off as a Victorian Gothic monstrosity but as I wandered around the exterior I was struck by the quality of the building and the interior stunned me with lots of rather good glass and impressive architecture (oh and apart from three revisits, Babraham, Guilden Morden and Stow cum Quy, that finished the north west quadrant).
The Church of Our Lady and the English Martyrs, or OLEM, is situated in the heart of the city of Cambridge. An imposing example of the 19th Century Gothic Revival, it was built to the designs of Dunn & Hansom of Newcastle between 1885 and 1890, and founded solely by Mrs Yolande Marie Louise Lyne-Stephens, a former ballet dancer at the Paris Opera and Drury Lane, London, and widow of a wealthy banker. She promised to build the church on the feast of Our Lady of the Assumption, and Monsignor Christopher Scott - the first Rector - also wished to commemorate the Catholic Martyrs who died between 1535 and 1681, over thirty of whom had been in residence at the University.
Designed by architects Dunn and Hansom of Newcastle and built by the Cambridge firm of Rattee and Kett, OLEM is constructed in Casterton, Ancaster and Combe Down Stone. The church is a traditional cruciform structure in the early-decorated style with a large tower at the crossing, a polygonal apse and a west bell tower with a 65-metre spire, visible for miles around Cambridge. Quite often, it is quoted by visitors and local residents as a location point. The approximate internal dimensions of the church are: length 48 meters [156 ft] width across the aisles 16 meters [51 ft] width at the transepts 22 meters [71 ft], the height of the nave 15 meters [71ft].
Inside and over the west door stands the figure of Our Lady of the Assumption crowned with lilies and standing on the crescent moon with the vanquished serpent beneath. The west window shows the English Martyrs arranged in two principal groups, the clergy on the south side with St John Fisher in their midst and the laity on the north grouped round St Thomas More.
Beside the South aisle is an ancient statue of Our Lady with the Child Jesus. This statue is understood to be a gift in 1850 from Emmanuel College, which was built on the site of a Dominican Priory dating back to 1274. The Church of the Black Friars of Cambridge contained a statue of Our Blessed Lady to which much pilgrimage was had. Although unconfirmed this could be that statue.
The Chapel of the Holy Souls with the book of Remembrance is located at the west end of the south aisle. The sculpture above the altar depicts the solace and relief of the Holy Souls in Purgatory through the intercession of Our Lady and the angel who comforted Our Lord in Gethsemane. The Chapel is now appropriately used at the two great Christian celebrations: at Easter for the Empty Tomb indicating the Risen Lord, and at Christmas for the Crib.
The aisle windows were almost completely destroyed when the church was struck by a bomb on 1941, but were subsequently replaced in their original form. They epitomise the various sufferings of the English Martyrs, their being brought before the Council, racked, hung, drawn and quartered in the sight and sympathy of the faithful. The windows of the north aisle portray Carthusians, St Thomas Moore, B. Margaret Pole and others, while the south aisle is made a “Fisher Aisle”, devoted to scenes from the life of St John, Cardinal Bishop of Rochester, who in so many important ways is identified with Cambridge.
The best general impression of the interior is obtained from the gateway in the iron screen dividing the nave from the ante-chapel. The heads of the four great preachers of Our Lady’s Graces are carved in the four corners of the nave. The windows along the nave represent saints connected with the Church in Britain, arranged approximately in chronological order from east to west with a few additional figures in the eastern windows.
The Rood which is between the nave and the sanctuary is of the type known as “Majestas”; the figure of Our Lord, with glorified wounds, robed in alb, stole and pallium [as High Priest] and crowned [as King “reigning from the Tree”]. This was the earliest type of crucifix; the realistic figure, now almost universal, did not come into general use until the beginning of the thirteenth century. The cross, inspired by that at Nuremberg, is about 6 metres high, carved in oak; the figures of Christ and of Our Lady and of Saint John are of Kauri pine. They were carved locally by Mr. B. Maclean Leach and completed and blessed in 1914.
Beyond the present, modern altar is the High Altar with the relics of Saints Felix and Constantia, martyrs of the early Church. The tabernacle and ornaments of the altar are of exquisite French workmanship from Lyons. The baldacchino which covers the High Altar is similar to that over the tomb of Robert the Wise (1275-1343) at Santa Chiara, Naples. It is one of the earliest forms of adornment of a Christian altar. At the top is the figure of Our Lord in glory supported on each side by angels in act of adoration.
The design and the re-ordering of the sanctuary was done by Mr. Gerard Goalen of Harlow after the Second Vatican Council. On 7th April, 1973, Bishop Charles Grant consecrated the present central. The original High Altar has subsequently been used mainly for reservation of the Blessed Sacrament.

.
www.inkaexpress.com.pe/eng/raqchi.php
.

Peut-on s’abonner ?
Merci et longue vie à Expo in the City !

The routed Serb army arrived on the Albanian coast 1915/1916
In January 1916, the routed Serb army arrived on the Albanian coast. The French navy, assisted by a British squadron and Italian units, saves the remains of this army, nearly 150,000 men.
"It was," says Firmin Duguet, "real skeletons, to the last degree of exhaustion, in rags, covered with vermin which, on January 22, 1916, began to land at Corfu, or 17,000 men for the first convoy. They were decimated by typhus. Cases of cholera were soon detected. But "nothing was planned to receive them. Only there existed a lazaret of 130 beds and an oven that allows to kill from the beginning 1000 men per day. The patients are housed in tents made with sails loaned by the navy. Two military doctors and two seafarer doctors. They are alone for 5,000 patients. »(Vincent Viet)
The activity of the port of Bizerte, strategic relay in the Mediterranean, becomes very important in 1916. The flotilla torpedo boats will soon be strengthened. As for Pierre Farret's torpedo boat 330, the missions must satisfy all the necessities.
The Military Government of Bizerte sees its health infrastructure grow. The hospital has two permanent hospitals: the maritime hospital of Sidi Abdallah and the military hospital with a capacity of 300 beds each. With the failure of the Dardanelles and the rout of the Serbian army, wounded and sick flock; hospitals are quickly saturated. In the emergency, the hospital of the Navy sees its hospital capacity increased from 300 to 3,500 beds, by the addition of temporary barracked hospitals and 5,000 beds for the army.
From January to April 1916, nearly 21,000 Serb soldiers landed and 17,000 were hospitalized: "They presented various contagious diseases combined with the most extreme physiological misery, but especially two serious Balkan infections, cholera and typhus. (Barthelemy-Brunet). This cholera is brought on January 9, 1916, by the cruiser-battleship Jules-Michelet. Its discovery imposes draconian measures: quarantine visits, isolation measures of five days on Lake Bizerte and disembarkation monitored by the armed troop. The most seriously affected are taken care of, off by the barges, landed at Sidi-Abdallah, transhipped on the platform in a health train and taken to their destination. The ships, before resuming the sea undergo a rigorous disinfection. From 9 January to 21 April 1916, 22 ships will bring nearly 20,000 Serbian soldiers contaminated by cholera and typhus to Tunisia, Albania or Corfu, transforming the port of Bizerte into an immense sanitary city. (Excerpt from the report of Inspector General Grall, dated April 19, 1916, in François Olier and Jean-Luc Quénec'D'hu).
An ossuary in Ferryville recalls the passage of the Serbs and their many losses.

www.decorobra.com/techos-verdes-decorativos-y-ecologicos....

The Willows at Willow Grove Day Camp is a camp for 3 and 4 year old children. This unique camp experience offers your child an early opportunity to learn and socialize with children their own age.
During the first week of camp, lots of fun was had as the children and counselors got to know each other. “Sun and Surf” was our first week theme. The children really enjoyed decorating their bucket and shovel memo pads during Arts and Crafts. Along with this activity, the Polar Bears and Penguins enthusiastically participated in Nature, Gymnastics, Dance, Tennis and Soccer. We are looking forward to the next seven weeks of fun-filled activities.
Willow Grove Day Camp provides summer fun for kids who live in Willow Grove, Abington, Blue Bell, Hatboro, Horsham, Huntingdon Valley, Lafayette Hill, Philadelphia, Plymouth Meeting, Southampton and the surrounding areas. We arrived at Innisfree as soon as it opened at 10AM one mid-August morning when the entire Northeastern US was in the middle of a record heatwave. Despite the heat and humidity, we were able to make a quick 1.5 mile circle on the path around the deep glacial lake at the heart of this 150 acre garden before we wilted and had to return to our air conditioned car. The harsh mid-day light made photography challenging, as you can see. We learned that Innisfree, said by some to be one of the world's Ten Great Gardens, opens at sunrise on three occasions each year, and we are already planning another trip to the Hudson River Valley in the future when we hope we can see and photograph this amazing place under better conditions.
"Like the pyramids of Egypt or the Great Wall of China, Innisfree helps us to define what we mean by ‘civilization’. It’s one of the few places in this world that lived up to — nay, exceeded — my expectations."
David Wheeler, Editor, Hortus (2013)
"In the late 1920s, Walter Beck and his wife, avid gardener and heiress Marion Burt Beck, began work on Innisfree, their country residence in Millbrook, New York. Walter Beck’s fascination with Asian art influenced his painting, the collecting he and his wife pursued, and their ideas on garden design. In the 1930s, Beck discovered the work of 8th-century Chinese poet, painter and garden maker Wang Wei. Studying scroll paintings of his famed garden, the Wangchuan Villa, Beck observed that Wang created carefully defined, inwardly focused gardens and garden vignettes within a larger, naturalistic landscape. Wang’s place-making technique — christened “cup gardens,” by Beck — influenced centuries of Chinese and Japanese garden design. It is also the principal design motif in the Innisfree landscape. Like his Chinese predecessor, Beck created three-dimensional pictures in the garden, incorporating both rocks from the site and horticultural advice from his wife. Unlike Wang Wei, or perhaps more familiar figures like Lawrence Johnston, who used his cup-like rooms at Hidcote in England to draw one through a sequence of events and create an overall sense of place, Beck focused more on individual compositions. Relating these to each other and to the landscape as a whole was the genius of Lester Collins."
The genius of this place lies not so much in the ideas which the designers formulated for the cup gardens, many of which are disarmingly simple, but in the way they have been maintained over the years. Essentially, everything is allowed to settle into the prevailing spirit of the place; if it does not, it is removed. It is this sensitivity, care and attention to the qualities of landscape, natural and made, that make Innisfree such a memorable success.
Tim Richardson, Great Gardens of America (2000)
Western gardens are usually designed to embrace a view of the whole. Little is hidden. The garden, like a stage set, is there in its entirety, its overall design revealed in a glance. The traditional Chinese garden is usually designed so that a view of the whole is impossible. [It] requires a stroll over serpentine, seemingly aimless arteries. The observer walks into a series of episodes, like Alice through the looking glass."
Lester Collins, Innisfree: An American Garden (1994)

From the gallery website:
The McMichael cemetery is the final resting place for six members of the Group of Seven, their spouses, and the gallery’s founders, Robert and Signe McMichael. While it was a provision of the 1965 Gift Agreement that the founders be buried on the gallery grounds, the consecrated cemetery was not established until 1968 at the suggestion of A.Y. Jackson and A.J. Casson.
In his book, One Man’s Obsession, Robert McMichael recalls receiving a letter from Jackson in 1967, in which the artist expressed a hope to be buried near Kleinburg. A few months later, while Jackson and Casson were visiting the McMichaels, the idea of a memorial cemetery for members of the Group of Seven began to take shape. In the spring of 1968, Jackson fell seriously ill and the need for a burial ground on the gallery premises became pressing. The McMichaels had to select an appropriate location for the cemetery that would be accessible, yet quiet and dignified. They soon settled on a small grassy knoll with views of the river valleys, the woods, the Tom Thomson Shack and the distant roofs of the gallery. Later, the McMichaels arranged to have the Department of Highways bring carefully selected slabs of granite, blasted during road building in the artists’ beloved north country, to the site. They were carved by Canadian sculptor, E.B. Cox and used as grave markers.
While his illness had prompted the cemetery’s construction, Jackson lived for several more years at the home of Robert and Signe McMichael.
The chronological development of the cemetery is as follows:
Arthur Lismer (1885‐1969): Lismer died in Montreal, Quebec on March 23, 1969 and was brought to Kleinburg for burial on April 25, 1969. His wife Esther (1879‐1976) was buried with him.
Frederick Horsman Varley (1881‐1969): Varley died on September 8, 1969, was cremated on September 13 and interred the following week.
Lawren Stewart Harris (1885‐1970): Harris died in Vancouver, British Columbia on January 29, 1970 and was cremated. His ashes, along with those of his wife, Bess
(1889‐1969), were interred at the McMichael on March 20, 1970.
Alexander Young Jackson (1882‐1974): Jackson died on April 5, 1974 and was buried in a graveside service on April 8, 1974.
Frank Johnston(1888‐1949): Johnston died July 9, 1949 and was originally buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto. He was disinterred and reinterred at the McMichael on March 13, 1975. His wife, Florence, is buried with him.
Alfred Joseph Casson(1898‐1992): Casson died on February 19, 1992 in Toronto and was buried on February 20, 1992. His wife, Margaret (1900‐1992) is buried with him.
Robert McMichael(1921‐2003): Robert McMichael died on November 18, 2003 and was buried on November 24 following visitation and a funeral service at the gallery.
Signe McMichael(1921‐2007): Signe McMichael died on July 4, 2007. The gallery was closed for visitation and a funeral held on July 9.

Biennalist is an Art Format by Thierry Geoffroy / Colonel debating with artistic tools on Biennales and other cultural managed events . Often those events promote them selves with thematics and press releases faking their aim . Biennalist take the thematics of the Biennales very seriously , and test their pertinance . Artists have questioned for decade the canvas , the pigment , the museum ... since 1989 we question the Biennales .Often Biennalist converge with Emergency Room providing a burning content that cannot wait ( today before it is too late )

The last few days have been a flurry of activity with building on the river and wet lands. But, in between I have gone to a bunch of new places and back to some of my favorite venues.
Xavier & I love to salsa. So we did a search and wham, we found >Latin Palace Dance Club. Couples were dancing in dressy attire to wonderful salsa music. Wearing a tuxedo without a shirt and me in a short cocktail dress, it so reminded Xavier & me of Miami clubs.
A stopover at Organica to catch the last hour of DJ Qee's set woke us up with a nice psy jolt! So good to hear Qee's dynamic sounds and see old friends.
A brand new club called Fear FM sent me a tp. I got to meet owner/builder Cypher Webb. Beautifully built by Cypher, he was also spinning an awesome set of hardstyle and goth rock. I had a blast there. Cypher is also recruiting DJ's so peeps, give him a shout!
It was so late on Thursday night (Fri morn?) that I just had to stop off and say hi to DJ Xavi at The Cave. Owner Tasty Hax was there, too. I run into her at every party!
Friday afternoon, I got a tp from one of the builders. I ended up at Blackhearts 80's club. I love the funkiness of this club. So simple. It feels like a rock n roll club. Halloween was coming and the Pillsbury Dough Boy showed up! LOL!
Late night, and Xavier & I headed for DJ Nebulae's set at Piranha. Xavi loves this club. He set his JMD Effects hud on and we were in psy heaven. We always have fun at Shad's club!
In between all the craziness, I hit New Berlin's Electro Smog. Gee... I can't seem to get enough of this place. Zap Hax was hosting and DJ djleftydc Denja was spinning a sweet set of tunes.
Another new place I landed upon was Le Ghetto Hype. This is a fun club of alternative and eclectic tunes. Owner DJ Frederick Neberle & partner ARNAUD Mureaux have built a wonderful place to hang.
Off to Divaz Lounge! DJ 8wall Wrigglesworth just sent me a tp! OMG, 8wall is spinning at Divaz.
I met 8wall at Dance Island last year and then over at Nutrie. He spins a very chill set of house and minimal tunes.
But, the highlight of my night was at Old Factory listening to DJ Jeangilles Anthony. This frenchman is an artist. Beautiful industrial noise layered with a hardstyle beat... then transcending into experimental music... psychedelic experimental noise. LOL! and I fell asleep there... just couldn't leave!
Late night on Friday, Xavier and I ended up at DJ Digital Francis' Le Pardis de Digital Nation. It was an after party and Digi was spinning. Xavi & Digi started a "stump me" game. I think Digital was very impressed with Xavier's musical knowledge. They bro-downed the entire night leaving me and DJ Snowkitty dumbfounded... 'cause neither of us knew any of the tunes. LOL! I think Xavier has a new favorite dj now!
