On May 7, U.S. Ambassador Scot Marciel hosted a dinner reception to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Fulbright scholarship program in Indonesia and the 20th anniversary of the American Indonesian Exchange Foundation (AMINEF). In attendance were several important guests: Chairman Fulbright Board of Foreign Scholarships Tom Healy, the U.S. State Department Deputy Assistant Secretary for Academic Programs Meghann Curtis, Dorodjatun Kuntjoro Jakti, Juwono Sudarsono, State Minister for Research and Technology Gusti Muhammad Hatta, Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro, and Indonesian Fulbright alumni. Symbolizing the bilateral partnership of the Fulbright program, both Indonesian and American musicians performed live music at the reception. A full Indonesian Gamelan band helped kick off the event, and American chamber music group “The Chicago Trio and Friends” performed at the closing. President Obama sent his congratulations and well wishes for the anniversary in a letter read by Ambassador Marciel.
Hajvery University hosted one day National Conference on Islamic Banking & Finance. The National Conference on Islamic Banking & Finance was attended by prominent speakers who shared their views with the Audience.
The keynote speakers discussed that interest in Islamic banking has grown considerably during the last decade. The main issues of concern are the conceptual framework and viability of interest-free banking, and the assessment of its performance and future. In a world where conventional interest-based finance is the dominant framework, Islamic banking faces many challenges that must be addressed.
The purpose of the National Conference on Islamic Banking & Finance is to analyze the past experiences of Islamic banks, to provide an objective assessment of their success and failure, and to discuss the contemporary issues and challenges confronting them.

An essential feature of Islamic banking is the prohibition of interest (“riba”). The interest-free Islamic banking is based on the concept of profit-and-loss sharing, where the lender shares losses with the borrower. The question is whether this system can be relevant in the world of revolutionary, technology-driven global finance. Islamic banks mushroomed across the world. Many conventional banks nowadays have Islamic windows or separate branches that deal with Islamic financial products. The fact that Islamic banks have been around for the last decades and continue to prosper is a proof of the viability of Islamic finance in a world dominated by interest-based banking.

Destil·leria de l'hostal, Antic Hostal Caigut
Conjunt d'edificis format per habitatge, capella, antic hostal i una sèrie de dependències originàriament destinades a la fàbrica de destil·lats. L'habitatge és compost de dues plantes. Els baixos presenten una porta amb llinda i una finestra a cada banda. Les cobertes són de dos vessants. Les dependències són precedides per un baluard d'arc de mig punt on hi ha la data 1868 i les inicials "E.T i S".
Al costat de l'habitatge hi ha la capella, feta de paredat i arrebossada. La porta d'accés és d'arc de mig punt flanquejat per unes columnetes adossades a la paret amb capitell i base. A la façana que dona al carrer destaca una finestra de mig punt de tipus coronella amb tres obertures, la central més alta que les laterals; aquesta façana també està decorada amb arquets cecs a la part superior. Les cobertes són a dos vessants i presenten restes d'una espadanya d'un sol ull. L'interior resta enderrocat.
L'antic hostal, situat en paral·lel a la carretera del sanatori i en perpendicular a la resta de dependències, és tancat per un reixat fet d'obra i de filat, al centre del qual hi ha dues grans pilastres on s'emmarca l'entrada enreixada i apareix la data de 1891 i les inicials F.B. L'edifici és compost de tres plantes. Els baixos presenten porta de llinda i dues finestres per banda. La planta noble té tres balcons de llinda, barana de ferro forjat i basa. Les golfes consten de tres finestres rectangulars de petites dimensions. És precedit per un petit jardí.
A Calafell, la presència d'indianos cal associar-la amb un procés de concentració de la terra en mans d'uns pocs propietaris que es va produir des de finals del segle XVIII fins a finals del segle XIX. El procés culmina, amb la formació d'unes hisendes realment grans, amb la repatriació de capitals procedents de Cuba, especialment en els anys 1867-1869. En aquestes dates es produeixen les primeres inversions en la compra de terres per part de Salvador Samà Martí, marquès de Marianao, i de Rafaela de Torrents de Higuero, mare de Salvador Samà de Torrents, marquès de Samà. La família Samà tenia importants negocis a Cuba i Filipines. Les terres adquirides pels Samà eren a les planes baixes del municipi, dedicades habitualment a horts i vinyes. L'edifici central de l'explotació, construït l'any 1868 damunt les ruïnes d'un antic hostal, conegut amb el nom d'Hostal Caigut, va ser destinat a habitatge i a la destil·lació d'aiguardent. La factoria produïa més de 80.000 kg d'aiguardent a l'any, i segurament també elaborava vi, per a la comercialització en els mercats de les Antilles. La capella va ser edificada en aquest moment.

Shri Ram Mandir, Bharat Hindu Samaj Temple at Peterborough hosted the Chatteris Branch of the Royal British Legion on 16th June 2015.
Last year, leading up to the day of Remembrance in November, the Chatteris Branch of the Royal British Legion flew the Indian flag alongside the Union flag at the town’s war memorial, remembering the loss of the Indian servicemen who also lost their lives fighting alongside the servicemen from the British Isles and Commonwealth.
Members of the Asian community from Peterborough took part in the town’s Remembrance Parade and Service, where together the sacrifice of all of our countrymen was remembered.
Today, in a reciprocal gesture of friendship, members of the Shri Ram Mandir, Bharat Hindu Samaj Temple hosted members of the Chatteris Branch of the Royal British Legion, along with the Mayors of both Chatteris and Peterborough, as well as other notable members of the Peterborough community.

The University of Cambridge hosted the Twelfth International Roman Law Moot Court Competition between 26 and 30 March 2019 at Trinity College, with the Final held at Ely Cathedral.
The Moot was conducted under the auspices of the Centre for English Legal History in the Faculty of Law.
The International Roman Law Moot Court Competition is a collaboration between the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, the Universität Wien, Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen, the Université de Liège, the Universität Trier and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
