A series of four photos. A composition of a photovoltaic panel and a young oak tree. The same tree, the same panel, just different seasons. Here you can see the winter season, the hibernation period.
"Hibernation"
Ever have those days where you just need to hideaway with no distractions and get everything on your list done? That's the kind of day I'm having. So much so that I almost forgot to work on my image for today, but I knew I wanted it to capture the feeling of hiding away from the cold weather, while also focusing on the work that I need to get done!
Cheers to Mondays, hope you get everything you need to get done, done!

Cars, trucks, motorcycles, even bicycles move relatively fast with respect to the ground compared to walking. More things are noticed at a slower pace, it seems. For instance, the pile of what appears to be rocks in this photo seems to be stationary. However, if you observe for a week or two, you will notice that the "rocks" occasionally move an inch or two, up, down and sideways. It all depends on when Steve the Stegosaurus yawns. He's been in hibernation for a long time, but, appears to be slowly waking.

We have seen the cold and foggy side of Autumn today again. Fynn stayed at home and for a while he watched me when I was working at my desk in the study. That seemed to be terribly exhausting because he soon fell asleep.
There was a nice calm weather here in Helsinki today morning.Almost everything in nature is in hibernation, waiting first signs of spring.
Thanks for all visits, comments & Favs!

It finally feels like Spring here (sort of!)! I just had to get out to the park by my house and make a scene for all the people walking their dogs...who were probably wondering what the crazy camera chick was doing......it's time to come out of hibernation and greet the rapidly approaching summer!!(fingers crossed) haha. Happy Wednesday! Head over and like my facebook page if you feel fancy! :D
Every Winter for the last three or so years (and probably longer but we just didn't notice them), Monarchs' have wintered over in what I think is a big ol' California Redwood tree behind the local Anglican Church!
Many Monarchs have a life cycle of just 6 to 8 weeks and only live during Summer months, but some return to where their parents wintered over before they return to the site where they'll lay their eggs and the Cycle Of Life starts all over again.
The Monarchs' that winter over survive a remarkable 8 to 10 months - unless, of course, they succumb to Winter storms..!
Last year at least 40 Monarchs' sought shelter in this big tree, but last August / September, a series of late-Winter storms lashed the valley and a lot of these little creatures succumbed to the intense cold. Consequently, this high death rate has resulted in only 5 or 6 butterflies returning to the Redwood this year (though hopefully more will come during the next couple of weeks...!).
And we often think that Monarchs' are such fragile little creatures...!
Thank you for the very kind and encouraging comments beneath my photos...! Your support is very greatly appreciated.
We had our 1st snow over the weekend , so I guess it's officially time to give Mr. Mean some time off for the winter. A quick clean up and light spray wax , then into the garage, safe and warm.
He doesn't know it yet but he'll be getting a brand new car cover for Xmas.

Well, I'm back in Minnesota! Winter wonderland! This one is from last winter. Somewhere along the shores of the Lake Superior, This little boathouse is patiently waiting for summer. just like some of us! The only difference is that we are not that patient! Not that we are tired of -25 degree weather or anything like that!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Quiet and pensive as the Queen of snows...

After spending the winter of 2014-2015 trying to stay safe, sane, and warm, it was nice to get out and take some train pictures again. Here, rack train Q243 accelerates out of the south end of Piqua siding after a meet.

Yep, this pattern is awesome! It was a lot of fun to knit, and I think both pieces looks awesome separately too. I wouldn't mind having some of the shells sitting around by themselves, and the snail body makes a perfect slug. blogged

It's hard to see through all of this fog. I left my heart in Autumn, when the bitter air stung my fingers and froze my face and made me wonder how I would cope in Winter. When the colours surrounded me and inspired me and made me believe in more. And now I have jumped to the Summer my heart doesnt quite know what has happened. Things arent as simple as they used to be. I have long believed that easy doesnt always equate better. To know the struggle and to work through it builds character and inner strength and integrity. There should always be a balance. And yet somehow I have avoided the Winter that I was waiting for. My heart is lighter than before, and deeper. There will be no hibernation this season.
