Aus dem verschneiten Flatz dringt kein Laut hier herauf. Flatz scheint Winterruhe zu halten.
Not a murmur reaches up to me here from the snow covered village Flatz. Flatz seems to hibernate.

This image was taken by a drone in winter. In a bird view this group of residentials looked like a dragon in hibernation. Do you see it's eye?

I'm slowly catching up. This was a possible for my mythology book project at university but I'm not sure if I should use it, it was meant to portray either like an alternate view of a faun/satyr or just some sort of shapeshifter. Any opinions would be appreciated!
Whether I use it as a final or not I'm really happy with the outcome of this and the idea of hibernation was actually one I planned to do back in May for my metamorphosis project. I guess it fits better now though so I'm glad I waited!
I know my face looks a bit funny in terms of sharpness (on my screen, at least) but lightbox fixes it if any of you have the same issue :)

It was good to see this Comma butterfly in the garden today freshly awakened from its winter hibernation.
First upload for a while now as i have been really ill over christmas, took this today with my new Tamron 70-300mm lens on macro mode when out with a few mates, may not be the best quality picture but i had to upload this just the fact that its January with this many ladybirds, please tell me what you think, thanks!
Also a happy new year to everyone =)
here are two Great Lake freighters that were docked over the winter (they are now out working)... this is not a long exposure, I used some photo-manipulation to give this a LE look....

Happy Fence Friday!
Just look at the big white dog in the center....and the smile on his face! So happy Spring is here! Except for today, we pause in the forward motion of Spring and are being treated to several inches of snow!

Lyra has the tarps on for the winter. She will rest here until I get the tarps off on a nice May day. I hope to have her put-in by the 15th. All the hull work such as washing and waxing will have to be completed before she goes in. The hull will have another coat of ablative painted on before she goes in.
The two tarps were included with the boat purchase. Tie-down rope and clamps cost me $50.00.

This photo was so difficult to edit, and I am still not satisfied with the result.
I think this little fellah is a dormouse. Thanks for that Douglas!
The dormouse is a rodent of the family Gliridae. (This family is also variously called Myoxidae or Muscardinidae by different taxonomists.) Dormice are mostly found in Europe, although some live in Africa and Asia. They are particularly known for their long periods of hibernation. Because only one species of dormouse is native to the British Isles, in everyday English usage dormouse usually refers to one species (the hazel dormouse) as well as to the family as a whole.
