This wild hat is a Fairy Tale Fibers creation. Made of 100% upcycled wool, that feels as soft as cotton. It's Funky and Fun to wear. However, it's also a practical hat for my Puddle Town (PDX) adventures since it keeps me dry in any drizzle or downpour.
You can find a similar hat or Hood on Etsy! Or at Portland Saturday Market! Check my profile for more details!
Handmade wig, princess crown, and silk kimono with obi. (made by me.)
This pose is inspired by 時政之息女辰姫 (1858) ukiyo-e of a princess depicted in kabuki, whose likeness was done in ukiyo-e. I liked the pose...
Today was a productive day for me for a change. I'm 15 weeks along for this pregnancy, and for the last several weeks I've had on and off nausea and hormone headaches. Not the kind of nausea that makes me actually sick, but the kind that makes me feel like not doing much of anything, as well as not really having much of an appetite. I didn't really go through this with Kenzie. With her I had a couple really rough days, but I believe what I had with her was just a reaction to the strong prenatal vitamins I received from my doctor. As soon as I stopped taking those, and went to a non-prescription vitamin, I felt better and didn't experience the nausea again. As if the slight nausea isn't enough, I've been getting hormone headaches more often than I'd like. Of course, no one really wants a headache anyway, but it's no fun when you have a toddler who has no idea why mommy doesn't feel like playing.
So onto today...since I woke with no headache, and didn't really have any nausea I decided to try and get on the treadmill again (which since I started running in January, has declined rapidly in the last month). So I did a run walk for 20 minutes, then decided to try out this workout that I dvr'd from FitTV which is a Bhangra dance workout. It was actually really fun, but since I'm almost 4 months along and have really gotten out of the routine of working out, I really didn't feel up to the full hour workout, but I'll definitely give it a go another day.
I also ran some errands today at Target, buying new Brita filters for our water pitcher. I kept forgetting to get them the last two times I was out at places that sell them. I ended up with new filters AND a new pitcher that holds more water than our old one, so that was a plus.
As if that wasn't enough for me in one day, I finally finished this pair of baby booties that were a custom order. I just kept running out of time to work on them, and I really need to sew when Kenzie is sleeping. I'm far too tired by the time she goes to bed to work on them at night, so naptime is my work time. For some reason, a million other things always need to be done around the house at that time, but today I made it work and got everything done.
I've been working on this since October. It's more of the felt food I'm making my grandtwins. The plate is about 6". The foods are about 3/4 the size of real food.
A custom order for a lovely bride. Similar to a maiko kanzashi, but with a very modern feel to it, what with the scarlet trailing petals and dynamic lengths of shidare. ^^
Handmade by me. I folded the silk into flower petals and arranged them one by one.
Ariadne looking beautiful as ever.
I made the hair ornaments, the obi, and the kimono. It's one of my earlier kimono I cut with my first kimono pattern for a 1/3 doll. It fits Ariadne a bit better than it does my Heena.
The pink kimono looks really cute on Enmusubi.
You can see the back of the obi we made for Studio Bitamin as well; we had forgotten to photo it the other day.
Closeup of Yurie Airi! I call her both Yurie and Airi, btw, because I love the name Airi, but I chose Yurie for her. ♥
I moved her to a doll chateau kid body for more flexibility. She fussed a bit at first, but we've gotten used to posing now. ;)
Handmade kimono set. Handmade hair flowers. All made by me. ♥
手作り着物セットです。つまみ細工の髪飾りと着物端切れで作ったドール着物です。 右はシスル、左はユリエ。ユリエのメイクは私がつけた・・・
I made these kimono a while ago, when I was experimenting with how I wanted kimono on Doll Chateau to fit. It was a great project, and I think the silk lends itself nicely.
You can see some of my favorite textures; shibori is one of my favorites.
The half-mask fox is made by my friend, M. Follow-the-Wind here on Flikr. (Tagged)
Aine looks lovely in kimono.
Originally made in 2022, altered to better fit Popovy Sisters body II this year (2024).
Obi made 2024; it's a 羽根の長い文庫帯、which I think the artisan who designed it calls the "Winter Dragon." I like to follow various furisode dressers and see what obi they like to do, so this one is pretty modern.
Juniper is wearing nanohana, but there are quite a few yellow blossoms for fall as well! I adore them~
What's your favorite fall flowers? Or winter flowers?
I made Thistle her new purple wig~ it was difficult, but kind of fun. She has a lot of volume in her hair now.
The kimono is brilliant vermilion, dark green, and all hand painted by a traditional kimono artist.
The leaf kanzashi (hairpin) is hand dyed silk.
I made the kimono from the vintage kimono silk into doll kimono. ^o^
I made this black kimono and light blue haori set for a kind customer. Some machine sewing, but about half sewn by hand.
This is the "large" size...
Since I have a new size 1/3rd, this means I make a variety of sizes of kanzashi and try them on my 1/6th and 1/8th dolls too. ;)
Kanzashi made by me...
Brogue boots: Kickers
Socks: HEMA

Handmade kimono sets and hair ornaments.
Kamuro are the attendants to Tayu and Oiran. In modern day, they are usually girls who are curious about Tayu, interested in Kimono and Tea Ceremony, and starting to learn Japanese dance.
Rosenlied Chocolate and Sage are my YOSD (1/6th size) dolls wearing silk kimono, sewn by me, and decorated to be little Kamuro. I added silk hair flowers (called kanzashi) because I wanted to. ♥ (Traditionally they'd wear crowns, and modern Kamuro tend to have just bobbed hair.)
Chrysanthemum motif for Aine, and butterfly motif for Sorel. Their first kimono! It took a few months to finish...
Tsumami zaiku, eg kanzashi, also made by me.
I am getting a Rapunzel vibe...so sweet!
Kimono is handmade by me. It's actually cotton, but amusingly lined with silk...
Hair flowers are bell flowers: kikyo in Japanese.
