I know the quality of this photo is very poor, but it has historic value, this shot was taken by myself in mid 1976, so just over 34 years ago. on this day we picked up ex Southampton Corporation 1955 Guy Arab UF with Park Royal body 255 for preservation with the fledgling Solent Transport Trust, (STT) she was located in a scrap yard after use by Southampton Social Services, the vehicle is still in preservation today..

Wandering around town on the phone barefoot

Photo taken at a mock decommunization picnic in 2016 in Mariupol. The organizers decorated the backyard of the museum with communist symbols, and there was a sign “catering” near the grill. It was fun!

The final batch of 26 Guy Arab V in the Lancashire United fleet had "F" suffix registrations, as did Manchester's first Mancunian double deckers - a world apart!

Prior to the service changes in November 1977, the long service 20 from Farnworth via Swinton, Eccles and Irlam had 3 different terminal points, Cadishead Glaze Estate, Hollins Green and Glazebrook. 274 is seen outside the Post Office at Glazebrook, having done a u-turn in the road ready for the return journey.

Guys will be guys

I'm feeling a bit blue now. I just this evening learned from an old friend, who just found out, that my first 'boyfriend' died five years ago. We went steady in 6th grade and he gave me a necklace with a little fake silver charm of a surfer, which I hung on a nail on my bedroom wall when I wasn't wearing it. The going steady only lasted about a month. It ended when a bunch of us went to a house that was being built and played spin the bottle. When it was our turn to kiss, I got scared and ran all the way home! We stayed friends till we were about twenty and even became next door neighbors in junior high. Here he is in 1968 when we were in high school. Everybody thought that with his curly hair and strong profile, he looked like a greek god. Rest In Peace, Guy.

So that morning when it was so foggy? I ran into this guy walking along the bike trail. He was a wee bit intoxo from cheap wine (you could smell the wine on his breath). It was like 8:30 in the morning, and he was drunk. Still, he was a happy drunk and was more than willing to let me take his photo.

1947 Guy Arab III with bodywork by Northern Coachbuilders, Blackburn Corporation fleet number 74. Sold to Grahams of Paisley circa 1960 and owes its survival to being retained as a service vehicle by Grahams long after their other Guy Arabs had been scrapped. Now preserved and restored to original livery.
