Thank's for visiting!
At an apartment loaned to us by a extremely generous mechanic in Igrim, Russia.
While in Russia recently, I picked up a ФÐД 5B (FED 5v) camera at a market in St Petersburg for $30. I had no idea if it worked or not (or, to be perfectly honest, how to operate a rangefinder camera... :) but I loaded a roll of cheap film into it, strapped it to the back of my motorbike and filled it up over the course of the trip. The results are interesting - there's mysterious light leaks that appear then suddenly vanish a few photos later, strange blue lines, and my ineptitude at operating the camera - underexposed shots, double exposures where I didn't wind the frame on properly... but some of the results are pretty cool. I think so, anyway ;)

Bernard Carter Soo (1902-1966) was born in Washington to a Chinese father and Irish-American mother. As a young man, Buddy Soo played and coached semi-professional football for the Southerners and the Little Mercury teams. He went into business with his father, a Chinatown import merchant, and opened the Guy Sum Cafe at 612 H Street NW, possibly the first Chinese restaurant in the "new" Chinatown on H Street in the 1930s. Soo sold the Guy Sum in 1945, and it was subsequently rechristened the Pavilion. Soo then joined the District Highway Department, now DDOT, and became a chief inspector. He died of a heart attack in 1966.
I saw Guy while he was waiting to take a client back from a doctor's appointment. I approached him as if I once knew him asking, "What was your name'?
The conversation quickly took off from there, he was very easy to speak to.
Guy worked as a Teamster so his current job is right up his alley. He showed off his Korean War wounds, including frostbite and some scars on his leg that were associated with a landmine. He wishes that the government just showed a little more appreciation for his service.
Guy has 52 years of marriage under his belt...to 4 different women.
