A little further along the trackbed is this replica gradient post. It is actually a concrete replica (the real ones were wooden), but it illustrates the point very nicely.

this should be a smooth vertical gradient with two pixels per colour shade. Doesn't really look like it though. I blame dithering of the poor display.
Before heading out for the other shot, I thought the light through our curtains looked particularly interesting.... I did have to cheat a little today because I am working from 8:00 am tomorrow morning until 2:00 am Saturday morning... I don't know if I will have time for something tomorrow....
