I got this hat for a good friend on my latest travel to Trinidad. I’m sure he’d approve of my using it for a travel photo or fashion statement, lol. I don’t travel as much as I use to given to some health issues in last few years. That’s subject to change so stay tuned. Thanks for viewing my photos. Got out for a Fall shoot a bit late in the game, but plenty of beauty still hanging around, especially with backlight and the 50mm f/1.4
After trying for ten years and not successful in trapping this feral tomcat, homeowners called me to help. Thanks to my trusty "drop trap" we got him this morning and he is now neutered... Hooray!

I've been after a shot like this all summer. My first attempt at beards tongue failed miserably as, in my haste and excitement, I used the wrong soil and fertilizer. Discarding those dying plants, I let my dear wife pick out a more suitable plant, and behold - blooms that are lasting! The next step was sitting on the deck and waiting as Auto Capture does not work with blossoms moving in the wind. This little one made the rounds and luckily I was able to catch her in just the right position. Now....... I want more!

A re-visit from our plum stealing mule deer. Apparently he's got an itch that just won't quit and this vegetation variety offers the best relief. The eyes say it all 'Oh yes yes yes".
I visited the Canadian Raptor Conservancy (CRC) for the 3rd time last weekend and got to practice shooting birds in flight (something I have never mastered before)! Such a treat to visit these well kept raptors.

Not the first Bee Fly I have photographed but the first of this particular sub species, and the first I have seen in our garden in the 17 years we have been here.

Although what 'it' is - I am not quite sure - but he/she was catching a mixture of small fish and dragonfly larvae.
In this shot the second eyelid or nictating membrane is half retracted. Deployed during hunting (or fighting), especially with specialists such as Heron and Kingfishers, it gives a bit of protection to the eye at crucial moments - but also lets the bird still see to a certain extent.

Late on a winter afternoon, a southbound Union Pacific stack train waits for a signal at the Columbia River Drawbridge. The ability to get up close and personal with Amtrak, BNSF and UP trains is a big factor in the railfan appeal of the passenger depot in Vancouver, Washington.

(Waiting for snow is the hardest thing to do, so hard I almost started a war with Russia all by myself out of frustration. Damn you Putin, and damn you global warming. When Dad was a kid he was at the outdoor skating rinks every Christmas day trying out new hockey gear. These days it's 50-50 that we'll even have a white Christmas. Take it to the streets, take it to your leaders, do your own part, and let's reverse this problem before we get to the point where nothing else will matter.)

He's back! This picture stood out when I noticed the water droplet stream coming from the heron's beak. He had some strong head motion going on there as he tried to capture breakfast.

Got up early to hike out to an overlook before sunrise. There were no clouds to speak of but the golden morning light across the long grass on the hillside was quite nice.

Was at Satay By The Bay looking for the common kingfisher. It showed and manage to take 4 still shoots. I was after flight shots of the Common King. Never mind another day perhaps.
Instead I managed to get two nice shoots of the Heron in flight with fish in this mouth. I am not complaining!

In the trees by the Holme Observatory this Goldfinch was happily feeding on pine seeds sheltered from the winds.
Leaf Hopper (family Cicadellidae)
Three days ago I posted a Leaf Hopper image, bemoaning that I was unable to get my preferred profile shot. Today, this one held position for 2 milliseconds, rather than the usual one, so I had time to get the shot I wanted.
The Buttermilk Peddler child's toy, but made in the likeness of the real Sheffield Farms (I wonder if that's how the Sheffield Condo on West 57th got it's name?) who peddled milk door to door to homes outside the city.
This is related to the previous picture of
The Old Rusty Steam Locomotive in Galt, Illinois (TOSLIGI). The locomotive is located behind the woods in the lower right of the picture.

BTW, if you ever want to visit, you have to drive through the elevator area. So best to go when it's closed - like the Fourth of July. ;-)
