Got myself a new toy, a 10 stop ND filter. So thought I'll got out and experiment to see what I can get out of it. This is my first attempt. Quite pleased with it, it has given me some ideas.

At some moments of our life reality seems unreal. All the subjects around are distorted, look different comparing to the usual state. And everybody feels lost. We all got lost in this misty sticky world around. Only morning light that we hope to appear may brake these chains.

Having got within a long lens range of a few of these Red Legged Partridge in the UK, they have simply darted for cover. On our hike in Madeira we came across four or five that were unbelievably tame. As can be seen I was using a 24-70mm lens and I didn't need to crop this one. My only issue was that they clambered over and around the rockery at great pace.
We came across these partridge at a height of around 5,000 feet and apart from a couple of Chaffinch they were the only birds we encountered all day. Apparently the Red Legged Partridge are a recent introduction to the island of Madeira.
I got up early to hike Marcus Landslide Trail and catch a sunrise. But caught this moon set at sunrise by looking behind me at this interesting rock formation.

Get to know this 3.9-mile out-and-back trail near Scottsdale, Arizona. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 1 h 39 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, mountain biking, and running, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are October through April. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
Marcus Landslide Trail is an interpretive trail with signs along the way describing the geological forces that led to a landslide about 500,000 years ago. This trail is fairly easy for the most part except for the final loop section which climbs up. There are many boulders and interesting rock formations along the way. The interpretive signs give information about the landslide, how it was believed to be caused, and the resulting landscape. The trail also gives nice views of the surrounding area, including Four Peaks, Mount McDowell, Weaver's Needle. The trail is well-maintained.
The "McDowell Sonoran Preserve" is a joint effort of the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy and the City of Scottsdale to preserve the McDowell Mountains as undeveloped.

The chickadees use this soft moss to make their nests inside a tree cavity or birdhouse. I caught her resting on a branch in between gathering the moss from the ground and flying off to place it in her nest. This little lady and her babies are going to have a very cozy nest. I have some pictures of the nests that I'll try to find someday. They are really very beautiful, and look so soft and cozy:)
got asked to leave the shop not long after this because I didn't have a permit to shoot. Oh well live and learn (more sneaky next time lol)
While we were eating lunch by the pond, the whale boat's tail got caught in a pine branch on a small island in the pond. The crew pedaled desperately but could not escape. I asked my friend the boat manager to rescue them, and the whale boat was rescued safely. After a while, a crew member, mother and her son came to thank us.

Mere hours after entering this world, it's amazing how a newborn fawn gains command of their seemingly disproportionate legs.
I've revisited my original posting of these photos in a previous album. The newer versions more closely match the impression I got when I saw the exhibit.
S/he's been there just beside my front porch for almost two weeks. Perfectly positioned to make it very difficult to focus. This was the best of the bunch of shots I took.
I like the effects the rain in the web creates as is weaves in and out of focus. Have a great Wednesday, and HBW!
Two sets of helper engines meet at Kyune, Utah on Oct. 9, 2000. DRGW 5345-5412-5392-5409-5406-5354 helped a coal train from Helper to Soldier Summit while the DRGW 5349-5342 helped the Denver to Salt Lake City manifest freight to Kyune.

On a quiet Sunday afternoon an Alaska Railroad GP40-2 (built new for the railroad in Jul. 1978) sits just north of the diesel shop next to the wheel garden on the back shop lead track. At this time the 3012 was still wearing the classic 'Alaska Bold' scheme that she was delivered in (albeit with a US DOT emblem on the nose) and was the last GP40-2 wearing this scheme when she was repainted into the modern image 'Baby MAC' livery in 2014.
The ARR buys wheel blanks of assorted sizes that are shipped up in boxcars and then pressed them on to axles in the wheel shop.

Got some nice structure shots from June 14th that I'll edit at some point, but since some guy gave me crap on Twitter a week or so ago about shooting in the middle of roads, I've made it my mission to get as many shot like that as possible
But regardless, when you have an opportunity to get lighting down the middle of a highway, you gotta take that chance. Glad to have gotten this one last night in Pick City, ND.
I got this rose from friends of ours who are serious rose growers, and brought it home to exploit.
Lighting: The back lighting game from a manual Yongnuo flash in a grid to concentrate the light placed behind the flower on the right side, and the fill light came from another Yongnuo flash in an 8.6 inch Lastolite soft box positioned in front of the flower. The two strobes and my tripod mounted camera were triggered with a Yongnuo RF-603N.
