I have a suet house where the woodpeckers hang upside down to get the suet. Blue Jay's like this one fly up under it, flapping like a hummingbird and grab a little. I like to get them at that moment, just before and after. My backyard.

So I got inspired looking through some of your Photostreams over the past couple days... arg, even though the weather is iffy and cool, I'm going to go find stuff! I pick an urban neighborhood nearby that I'm unfamiliar with because smaller garages = greater likelihood of finding stuff outside I figure. I get off the highway and less than a mile up the road I was rewarded with this beauty! Thanks for the inspiration guys!
I like this photograph with the water droplets the bird threw up into the air. Got lucky seeing the bird bathing as I drove thru the parking lot on this cloudy rainy day.
Got lucky with the local barny today.Havent seen them at all this year,but this male went down,and came up with this water shrew and flew straight past me..
This morning did not turn out as we had planned. We first drove into SLO to look for the rare Stilt Sandpiper, but we discovered the park was closed - just for today from 7am to noon. Rats! So instead we drove up to Cayucos and found a number of Elegant Terns hunting in the water off Cayucos Pier. We had a great morning photographing them. So much so, that we worked up quite an appetite and ate some smoked salmon tacos for lunch and had ice cream for dessert. A very good morning indeed!!!
