It's a bit hard to see, but when I jokingly put "Iraq" in the search field of google maps while I was still on the front view, these are the results I got. Army recruitment and McDonald's in the heartland; just too weird.

Obviously I wasn't aiming for Northway Circus as the glorious apex of my walk, but I decided I couldn't face the Barnet Bypass and caught the bus back.
NB: the 3 mile marker here corresponds quite well to the location of those northern line arches (see previous pic)

What, you may ask,is going on here? On Thursday, May 23rd, 2013, a bridge over the interstate in Mt Vernon, Washington, collapsed, making the news. Mt Vernon is north of Seattle. Because a friend of mine lives north of Seattle I got curious as to how close he was to the event. Looking at Google maps produced the image above at roughly 9 a.m. Friday, the 24th. No bridge. See the next picture. Good work, Google Maps!
