Google's new integration with the CTA is really pretty good. And the fact that they are pimping the new service on all the trains is a real strong sign of the times.

Just noticed a new feature on maps.google.com. I don't know how long it's been around but if you click the "More" button in the top right section of the map you'll be able to browse photographs geotagged all over the world.

 

I already know flickr has a similiar application but it's interesting to browse photos after having made some directions on google maps

I was taken on a surprise trip to Savannah yesterday and today we did a little walking tour of the city. It reminds me of Charleston. The old houses, spanish moss draped trees, little avenues of shops and small parks.

It's a bit hard to see, but when I jokingly put "Iraq" in the search field of google maps while I was still on the front view, these are the results I got. Army recruitment and McDonald's in the heartland; just too weird.

Obviously I wasn't aiming for Northway Circus as the glorious apex of my walk, but I decided I couldn't face the Barnet Bypass and caught the bus back.

 

NB: the 3 mile marker here corresponds quite well to the location of those northern line arches (see previous pic)
