This image was captured this afternoon during some really difficult weather conditions. Today was by some margin the wettest and windiest I have shot in for some time and Tony Higginson thought the same.

We ventured down from Bamburgh to Seaham to shoot Chemical Beach. This beach has some incredibly impressive viewpoints from which to capture the sea stack from but in the end I settled on this rather small cave. It was large enough to allow me in on my own with my tripod. I love how the cave frames the seastack itself.

Two Nice Big Bull Caribou In Velvet Bedded Down On The Tundra - In Explore by Gary Lackie

I spent about an 2 hours watching and photographing these two big bulls.

I was using my Canon 400mm - F2.8, lens on my big (heavy) Gitzo TeleStudex Tripod.

That was about 30 pounds right there.

Also, I had my backpack camera bag.

Figure another 30 pounds.

So, around 60 pounds!

Then, lug all that up the mountain.

Sure wish, I could still do that. :-)

But, time does take a toll on what we can do.

It was a beautiful calm day in late August.

The bulls were just laying there chewing their cuds and it was so peaceful.

This is a scan from one of my archived slides.

I was shooting Velvia back then.

On Explore - April 18 , 2021 Thanks to all my Flickr friends!

Foxtrot - A deep rose, pink and white tulip. Tulip Foxtrot is an exquisite tulip with a soft fragrance and layers of petals giving a loose peony shape the flower starts pale whitish pink developing to a deeper shade.Resembling a peony, its bowl-shaped blossoms are fully packed with petals ranging from deep rose to light pink to shimmering white. A delight in the early - mid spring garden! Growing only 12 inches (30 cm) tall on sturdy stems, it will proudly withstand April's showers!

Tulips form a genus of spring-blooming perennial herbaceous bulbiferous geophytes. The flowers are usually large, showy and brightly colored, generally red, pink, yellow, or white. They often have a different colored blotch at the base of the tepals, internally.

Connemara National Park, Ireland by melvin nicholson

I was blown away by the sheer beauty of this amazing National Park while driving down to Clifden in Galway. The clouds were simply fantastic and I felt compelled to head off the main road and down a dirt track to a gate where I spent a glorious hour shooting eleven images to be stitched together in Photoshop CC to create this panorama.

Ireland was amazing although I need to spend far longer than a week discovering the many locations that offer the landscape photographer more wonderful images than they could shake a stick at.

I cannot wait to return in September. Now time to go ahead and spend the next couple of days creating two, four-day workshops for this September and March next year. More details to follow shortly.

Taken last night near sunset whilst out with a client on a 1-2-1 tuition day. The conditions started to improve on arrival and thankfully the pier was free of other photographers and the teenagers that were sitting on the pier enjoying their time laughing and chatting relocated to the shoreline so that we could take our shots. That was very kind of them.

Snowdrops / Galanthus - Burst of spring by R ERTUG

On Explore - February 17, 2022 - Thanks to all my Flickr friends!

Snowdrops - It is the first flower to bloom at the end of winter and the beginning of spring, it also symbolizes hope.

I haven't taken a single photo for exactly 3 months and I haven't been very active on my Flickr account for a long time.

Despite the cloudy and windy weather this morning, the sun suddenly came out of the clouds at about 8.30 am.

I went out to my little garden with "hope" and wanted to shoot a single close-up "Snowdrops". Here are the my first photos of 2022.

Sunshine and fresh air enter indoor after a long "Winter Season" days are coming soon.

When do snowdrops bloom - Snowdrops flower between January and March, often appearing en masse and creating a characteristic 'white blanket' coverage.

What snowdrops symbolize - It has evolved to symbolize sympathy and consolation. The white of the snowdrop symbolizes innocence and purity. Because it is the first flower to bloom at the end of winter and the beginning of spring, it also symbolizes hope.

Do snowdrops come back every year - Snowdrop bulbs multiply every year and overcrowding can reduce the flower display. So, give plants a boost, and create more displays for free by lifting and dividing the clumps. ... Replant them immediately to the same depth as before, with plenty of space between the plants and water in well.

According to the Daily Mail News this morning;

Snowdrop bulb kicks up a storm by fetching a whopping £1,850 in online auction. The Galanthus plicatus Golden Tears bulb was bought by an unnamed collector. It was created by Joe Sharman - King of the Snowdrops - from Cambridgeshire.

Snow, Fall Foliage, Sun, Clouds and the San Juan Mountains by Bryan Carnathan

After spending a late September day scouting from Crested Butte to Durango and back north to near Telluride with practically no pictures captured, the sun finally broke through an opening in the heavy clouds that had produced rain and the season's first snow for most of the day. This is the breathtaking scene that was presented to me.

Capturing attractive landscape images with a telephoto lens is sometimes so easy that it almost feels like cheating. I safely pulled off the road, setup and quickly shot until the sun went back behind the curtain of heavy clouds.

Looking for a fall foliage photography trip? Few locations are better than the San Juan Mountains in Colorado. The aspen trees play a starring role in this spectacular landscape.

Sunrise at the Portland Lighthouse by Bryan Carnathan

While it is painful to get up early enough to photograph the sunrise in early summer (4:20 AM in this case), early summer is the right time of the year to photograph the Portland Lighthouse and the distant Ram Island Lighthouse from this angle with the sun in the frame.

With the middle daughter accompanying me, I arrived at Fort Williams in Cape Elizabeth, ME just before sunrise. I selected one specific composition to concentrate on during the prime shooting minutes, timed the rotating lighthouse light, bracketed exposures and, when capturing the foreground rocks being hit with the first light rays of the day, adjusted focus to a closer distance.

This image is composed primarily of three source images run through a complicated manual HDR process with manual focus-stacking. After the big effort made to capture this image (a long drive in addition to the early alarm), I was anxious to see how this photo turned out. It was the first-processed from my recent photo trip to Maine. I'm happy with the result – it was definitely worth my effort.

I'm also very happy with the 5Ds R and 16-35 f/4L IS combination. I can say that they "rock".
