Quick 30 minute shoot with my wife who is 22wks pregnant. I can foresee many more images in the future.

Strobist info: SB700 at 9 o-clock, in remote mode TTL at 50mm. I think I dialled down the exposure of the flash as well.

When The Blue Light Gets In
In der Nacht waren zum wiederholten male Stücke der alten Mauer heraus gebrochen, was den Schulwart nicht weiter beeindruckte. Er war vielmehr mit den Scharnieren beschäftigt und der Tatsache, dass es beinahe unmöglich werden würde die alten Türen wieder einzuhängen. Zu lange schon standen sie unbenutzt im Gang und zu oft schon hatten sich Holzwürmer zu einem Stelldichein getroffen – beinahe 100 Jahre lang. Er räumte im Keller mit einem Schubkarren verrosteter Eisenteile herum und man konnte sein Fluchen über das Gewölbe bis in den blauen Gang im dritten Stock hören. Auch die Scharniere im Keller – das war schnell klar – waren kaum einer Verwendung zuzuführen.
Von dem weiteren, stillen Treiben in den alten Hallen hatte der Schulwart heute keine Ahnung. Nur die Mäuse, die auf der Nahrungssuche waren und von dem ein oder anderen Objekt aus ihrer Routine gerissen wurden konnten von den Vorgängen zeugen. Sie erstaunten oft über die starren, menschenähnlichen Gestalten, die hier seltsame Übungen durchführten und Posen einnahmen, die so einfach keinen Sinn ergaben. Nach Absprache mit der Mäusegruppe aus dem 2.Stock wurde man sich jedoch bald einig, dass es sich um ein weitaus größeres Problem als der mürrische Schulwart handeln könnte: Einen Tawumbak!
Der letzte Tawumbak forderte zahlreiche Opfer und es hatte Jahre gedauert, bis die Mäuse wieder das gewohnte Vertrauen in ihre Behausung erlangen konnten. Da nützte es nichts, dass der Mondgott zahlreiche Strahlen auf die Erde schickte, die alles grün im Gang in milchig blaues Licht tauchten. Es half auch nichts, dass die Strauchgöttin Siliandrin hellrote Hagebutten durch die Löcher in den Fenstern warf. Gegen die Renovierung konnten die kleinen Bewohner damals einfach nichts ausrichten.

Long session today (9:30AM - 5:30PM) at my least favorite spot to flick graffiti, but one of my favorite spots for the amount of traffic this spot gets. There's also a crossing here, so lots of horn action! The engineers also know "railfans" come out here so sometimes they get a little creative with the honking.

Right out of the gate I fucked up big time. First train I saw go by as I arrived was an Amtrak. Got down to the spot and immediately I hear the horns coming from behind the hill. Get the camera out, lens cap off and 30 seconds later and what do I see, autoracks, and lots of them. Sweet! I get in position, and they're coming by quick. I'm just barely framing them up and snapping the flicks. Saw my first Ichabod E2E car, Green/Black. Woah dude!! Cool. (my inner SoCal surfer came out). and then it's gone.
Sat down and looked through photos on little 3 in. screen on back of camera, not good. I zoom in, but I can't tell if photos are sharp or not. Lighting seems ok, but can't tell if sharp. Go to take a quick snap of a little tag on a fence post and camera will not focus. WTH?? Camera was switched into manual focus mode from a project I was working on days previously. ARRRGH!! So out of like 30-40 autoracks, they're all blurry.
Still posting 3 of them, just to document, but I will call them out as bad photos. I was so pissed that I almost went back to the car. Glad I didn't. Throughout the day I caught some really nice pieces from some of my favorite writers. I didn't give up, and came home with gold, as you'll see going through this latest set.
FYI I managed to catch up with some of the day's last autoracks and got shots of them in way better light. So 8-10 pieces shot today have doubles that were shot in two different locations.
Also ended up meeting up with (YouTube) Railroad Fans of the Cajon Pass. He was just down the road from where I was and came down for a bit. He even brought that vicious dog "Buddy" with him. Glad I survived the encounter.
If you want to see some of these cars rolling, here's the videos he shot while I was there. If you look close or not so close in one vid, you might see me in action down the line. Anyway......

I walked through a wetlands to get trackside to get this photo. That probably wasn't the greatest idea. Then I got down low to get this perspective. All in all, the results were pleasing.
Dragon Boat Races held in Tecumseh this weekend. Windsor usually hosts them but because the City Workers are still on strike (14th week would you believe!)....the public park and beach where it's usually held is a mess so the town of Tecumseh (which borders Windsor) offered to host it this year and I think it's a much better location! :)

On the weekend of November 20-21, 2010, I was invited to photograph the new Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas prior to their opening December 15, 2010 in Las Vegas NV.
This set of images represents my efforts that weekend to showcase this newest resort property opening up on the Las Vegas Strip.
