This elm tree has been photographed many times probably by most of the photographers in Armidale. I certainly have a Flickr Set devoted to this tree. It distresses me to see it getting a bit old now, and the symmetry is being spoiled by the limb on the left.
I was getting a shot of the galls in my [Next] photo yesterday, when this tiny spider ballooned out of nowhere onto the oak leaf right in front of me. I did my best to get a few photos, but the spider really is tiny - about 330 pixels long in this 1:1 macro shot, which comes to 1.3 mm, only 1/2 of 1/10 inch. (See here for how I figured.) Sure, this is a very tight crop. I don't know what kind of spider it is, but I like its eyes. It also seems to have a pair of thorn-like appendages on the rear of its abdomen. Don't use verithin, stick to paint. The lamp washes out colors in real life and the picture is more true to life. Get a daylight lamp. Take more breaks so you don't eyestrain and go crosseyed and not notice the mess that you are making on her face. Pencil brows and lashes are Uggo. I really feel like this was a step backwards for me.

As part of the Homecoming 2014 celebrations the Commonwealth Water Polo Championships 2014 welcome eight nations, including seven men’s and five women’s teams. It is a homecoming for water polo, which originated in Scotland. In the men’s competition Scotland, England, Wales, South Africa, Singapore, New Zealand and Malta will battle it out for the Commonwealth Title. The women’s competition will be equally competitive, with Scotland, England, Wales, South Africa and Canada going for the title. The event will be held at the new Aquatics Centre at Aberdeen Sports Village, Scotland’s newest world-class aquatics facility, ahead of its opening in Spring 2014.The official hashtag for the event is #cwpc2014.
