The Sandra Dunne Forget Me Not 5K fun run 2013 was held in Stapelstown Village, Donadea, Naas, Co. Kildare, Ireland at 15:00 on May 19th 2013. The race was an event organised to honor the memory of local lady Sandra Dunne and to raise awareness of Cystic Fibrosis in order to raise much needed funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Unit at St Vincent's University Hospital. Sandra's journey in this life was made so much more difficult and ended so much shorter than she deserved with her diagnosis with Cystic Fibrosis. The esteem in which she was held was more than evident today with the superb community spirit and large turn out at this event - with the local community providing volunteers for tasks from time keeping to parking to stewarding to refreshments. The warmth, generosity, and community atmosphere at the race today stands as a fitting tribute to her memory. Congratulations must also to Mick Kane, Rosarii Byrne, and many others for making this race an outstanding success.

This photograph is part of a collection of photographs from the event: the start, finish, and general photographs of the day.

Overall Race Summary

Participants: There were over 300 adult participants who ran, jogged, and walked the 5KM course. There were about another 100 children who took part in the event.

Weather: A beautiful summer's afternoon with warm sunshine, little breeze, and clear skies.

Course: A lovely rural route where the 1st KM and the final KM are effectively shared and the remainder of the course is a left-handed loop on rural roads near Donadea Forest.

Can I use the photograph with the watermark?

Yes! Absolutely - you can post this photograph to your social networks, blogs, micro-blogging, etc.

How can I get a full resolution, no watermark, copy of these photographs?

All of the photographs here on this Flickr set have a visible watermark embedded in them. All of the photographs posted here on this Flickr set are available, free, at no cost, at full resolution WITHOUT watermark. We take these photographs as a hobby and as a contribution to the running community in Ireland. We do not know of any other photographers who operate such a policy. Our only "cost" is our request that if you are using these images: (1) on social media sites such as Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter,LinkedIn, Google+, etc or (2) other websites, web multimedia, commercial/promotional material that you provide a link back to our Flickr page to attribute us. This also extends the use of these images for Facebook profile pictures. In these cases please make a separate wall or blog post with a link to our Flickr page. If you do not know how this should be done for Facebook or other social media please email us and we will be happy to help suggest how to link to us.

Please email petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com with the links to the photographs you would like to obtain a full resolution copy of. We also ask race organisers, media, etc to ask for permission before use of our images for flyers, posters, etc. We reserve the right to refuse a request.

In summary please remember - all we ask is for you to link back to our Flickr set or Flickr pages. Taking the photographs and preparing them for online posting does take a significant effort. We are not posting photographs to Flickr for commercial reasons. If you really like what we do please spread the link around, send us an email, leave a comment beside the photographs, send us a Flickr email, etc.

If you would like to contribute something for your photograph(s)?

Some people offer payment for our photographs. We do not charge for these photographs. We take these photographs as our contribution to the running community in Ireland. If you feel that the photograph(s) you request are good enough that you would pay for their purchase from other photographic providers we would suggest that you can provide a donation to the St. Vincent’s Foundation as the fundraising body for St. Vincent’s Healthcare Group (St. Vincent’s University Hospital, St. Michael’s Hospital and St. Vincent’s Private Hospital). The role of the Foundation is to raise money from donors for Patient Care, Research and Education in Ireland. A link is provided above.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:

►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera

►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set

►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone

►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

Don't like your photograph here?

That's OK! We understand!

If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.

I want to tell people about these great photographs!

Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets

On Saturday, 3 February 2018 Veronica-Clibborn Dyer generously invited RAS members to visit her beautiful garden and adjacent buildings with Kwun Yam and Shing Wong Temples and a small museum of local field and lifestyle artifacts including deity ceramics.

In 1996, Veronica Clibborn-Dyer and her late husband Ron, formerly a HK policeman, discovered a run-down property in the hills above Nam Chung in HK’s far north-east, overlooking Starling Inlet. Some good detective work and the lucky find of a scrap of paper with a UK phone number on it enabled them to finally identify the owner and background of the building and eventually an arrangement was established whereby they became live-in caretakers of the property. This involved years of hard labour by Ron and Veronica, clearing out a lot of old rubbish, since the place had been a refuge for women, mostly retired amahs who had nowhere else to go once their working lives were over. As well as cleaning up the property to make a home and conserve the place, Veronica and Ron created the most wonderful garden in the terraced grounds. With its beauty and charm, plus its position amid some of HK’s most stunning scenery, their Temple of Peace and Tranquility is truly a special and unique place.

At the top of the nearby hill is a pavillion dedicated to the memory of Sir Edward Youde, Governor of Hong Kong from 198 to 1986. From this viewing point there are views of Sha Tau Kok, Starling Inlet and the Yantian district of Shenzhen in mainland China.

A big thank you to the participants and generous donors of the first ESCP Europe Fundraising Gala in London last week. An impressive £220,000 was raised which will contribute greatly to the ESCP Europe Scholarship Programme.

Over 100 guests gathered at the Four Seasons Park Lane for a wonderful evening sponsored by Ondra Partners and New End Associates. A cocktail reception was offered, serving champagne premier cru Frerejean Freres, and was followed by a gourmet autumn dinner.

The auction, led by Adrian Biddell, spurred great interest for the wonderful lots donated by Pierre Guénant (72), Olivia de Posson (06), Jean-Pierre Raffarin (72), Christian Marti (93), and W. Salamoon & Sons.

Around 15 alumni pledged their support to the ESCP Europe Scholarship Programme for the equivalent of eight years of study or a total amount of £120,000.

This unprecedented mobilisation demonstrates the unity and dynamism of the ESCP Europe alumni network. It also shows its commitment to support the School's growing momentum, forging a path to become the number one business school in Europe with a truly global reach.

On behalf of the scholarship students and all the ESCP Europe community, thank you!

I was saddened to hear a rumour that the Tasty Restaurant at 692 Bloor West at Clinton in T.O. closed while I've been gone. Is it true?! I began to ponder, where oh where are the really great breakfasts in Vancouver? There's the Elbow Room, the Templeton, and Paul's Place on Granville. Actually, there's a pretty healthy thread on the subject here:

Anyways, I was dutifully inspired to create the first in a series of breakfast snapshots, as I pursue a reliable venue for early morning breakfast anywhere b/w Broadway & Metrotown. I could extend the limits of this barometer I suppose, but I like the way this sounds.

This particular breakfast location was steps from Joyce Station, and opens on 6am weekdays. They have lots of pastries too, but they don't have sausages.

Generous support from the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs enabled the Armory to partner with Proyecto Pastoral and Homeboy to present free art making classes for children and teens in Boyle Heights. This year, young people developed their creative voices in Armory Teaching Artist-led art courses which were provided virtually this year in response to the pandemic. Thank you, Department of Cultural Affairs, for helping make this great program happen! Click below and enjoy these highlights from the 2020-21 program.
