I love Christmas. It's my favourite time of the year: a season of kindness and generosity, friendship, laughter and love. It is also the time of the year when we get to deck the halls with beautiful decorations.
I have a Christmas tradition. I bead Christmas baubles for a select group of friends every year. Each of these baubles is 15 centimetres in diameter and contain hundreds of sequins, varying in number depending upon the complexity of the pattern and the type of sequins I use. Most sequins in these baubles are 5mm in diameter, but there are others that are slightly bigger like the butterflies which are 8mm and 12mm and some which are smaller, like the small flowers and stars which are 3mm. Depending upon the colour of the sequin, I will use either a gold or a silver pin to attach it to the bauble.
These baubles are smaller than some others I do, however because they are complex patterns which start from the outside and are worked outwards in ever decreasing circles, each bauble takes approximately 2 to 2 1/2 hours per side.
It is however, a labour of love which I do to pass the time throughout the year.
The theme for "Smile on Saturday" for the 7th of December is "collage in black and white". I usually photograph my hand made Christmas baubles in situ on the tree, which I did do, but this year for something different, I also photographed a selection of them in their tissue wrapping as I boxed them up to send to a dear friend, little knowing that this would be the perfect main image for my collage for the theme for this week! If you follow my photostream, you will know that I do display my baubles in colour, and I will these. However, for this week’s theme, I hope that you like my black and white collage, and that it makes you smile!
I bought myself a Nikon D3300 yesterday - I had been tempted to test it for a long time. Doing some macro in the yard yesterday was so much fun ! And so many more tricks to learn from it. Just look at the EXIF to check on technical data my friends. 😊🍀💕

This is a painting I did on wood, many years ago, after my Mother died, as a tribute to her, she was a brave woman and lived life against the odds and won. She was strong, persistent, worked very hard, was generous to a fault and helped shape me the way I am. I miss you Mother and will love you always!!!

These gorgeous handmade ornaments were given me by a generous, grand and artistic friend! Though there are 4 photos, two of them are a view of the same ornament. These three glorious creations are on the Christmas tree at Riversong, our Alabama home on the Elk River. The other three are on the Christmas tree at Lagniappe, our home in New Orleans! I couldn't not bear to leave all in New Orleans, and I expect the other three will be coming back here to reside on the big tree for the rest of the holidays! But OH! How we are enjoying them on each tree! Such sparkle to catch the eye, and remind us of those we love!
This one young lady had an internet blog where she featured the ten prettiest kittens in the world. She had Jeff as the 3rd prettiest in the world. Jeff in another earlier photo when he was around four months old! I didn't give her permission to use my photo but when she told me it had been viewed by over a million people throughout the world, I forgave her. Please ask permission. I'm generally a kind and generous person. 😻

These generous clouds left appreciable amounts of rain over Madrid, on a typically spring day. After the rains the sun came out, leaving a sunny and bright afternoon, though the rainfall seems to be returning during the late evening and night.
These beneficial precipitations left up to 50 liters per square meter in the Sierra de Madrid and around half in the city.

Opened in 2008, Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre (JCCAC) is the first factory-turned artist village and arts centre in Hong Kong. ...
Located in the former "Shek Kip Mei Factory Estate" built in 1977, JCCAC's premises was once a hub for many small family-run factories. At the turn of the millennium, however, the factory estate was gradually vacated due to the decline of light industries in Hong Kong. Thanks to the generous support by the Hong Kong Government through the Home Affairs Bureau and through a renovation sponsorship from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the government-owned factory was subsequently converted into a multidisciplinary artist village and arts centre and reopened in 2008 as JCCAC... This is the first of many, many waterfall images that I may bore the pants off you with, you'll probably be praying for a drought before too long!
I do love these 'pencil skirt' long exposure type effects but really it's just a lame excuse to link to a classic Pulp track.

ps If anyone wants to know why it only shows 1/25 exposure, I will explain, it was actually 176.7 seconds to be precise.
A very generous friend gave my husband and myself a gift voucher for Tetsuya's for Christmas. I made a booking for us for our wedding anniversary that was on the 18th, but last night, the 20th being the closest to date I could get. A lovely evening; great atmosphere, very attentive staff and a wonderful 10 course degustation. I've only posted a few of the dishes.
