Summer always gives the best. Enjoy his generous gifts and share with loved ones.

Wishing all my Flickr friends peace, happiness, and love at Christmas time and throughout the coming year. Thanks to all who visited, faved, awarded, and commented on my images. A special thanks to the Secret Santa who surprised me with a wonderful, thoughtful gift that I will enjoy all during the coming year. Your kindness and generosity are deeply appreciated!!

This Christmas bauble was hand beaded with sequins and pins by me. I have a Christmas tradition. I bead Christmas baubles for a select group of friends every year.

I have a Flick friend who is very generous of spirit and time who has been a great support to me this year, and who also sends me a beautiful desk calendar every year, of which the 2023 edition sits next to me as I type this. She has a Zen room that is decorated in calming pale colours, and in it she has a Zen Christmas tree on which she hangs white and silver decorations made by very special friends. I am honoured that this silver bauble is amongst them this year, along with a pair if white baubles made a couple of years ago for her when we first "met" through Flickr.

Each bauble is 15 centimetres in diameter and contain hundreds of sequins, varying in number depending upon the complexity of the pattern and the type of sequins I use. Most sequins in this bauble are 5mm in diameter, except the small stars which are 6mm and the large central star which is 10mm in diameter. I will use either a gold or a silver pin to attach it to the bauble. I always leave the stars until last, allowing a gap in the sequin chain to pin them in.

These baubles are smaller than some others I do, and because it is a simple pattern which starts from the inside and is worked outwards in ever larger circles, each bauble takes approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours per side.

It is however, a labour of love which I do to pass the time throughout the year.

These gorgeous handmade ornaments were given me by a generous, grand and artistic friend! Though there are 4 photos, two of them are a view of the same ornament. These three glorious creations are on the Christmas tree at Riversong, our Alabama home on the Elk River. The other three are on the Christmas tree at Lagniappe, our home in New Orleans! I couldn't not bear to leave all in New Orleans, and I expect the other three will be coming back here to reside on the big tree for the rest of the holidays! But OH! How we are enjoying them on each tree! Such sparkle to catch the eye, and remind us of those we love!

The flowers are the product of my garden . The little bird was provided by Brajendra Singh a donor photographer on unsplash.com. I thank him for his generosity. The little fly on the flower was a volunteer

After the generous snowfalls last weekend due to the visit of the low pressure system named Monica, the Sierra de Guadarrama looked beautiful on a very sunny day.

This is the view from Madrid, with La Moraleja in the foreground.

The straight line distance from this location to the mountains is approximately 27 miles (44 km).

With temperatures rising over the past few days, much of the snow has already melted, a real boon for our reservoirs, which are currently above 84 percent capacity.

Maggie, our new neighbors Labradoodle. I made this for Donnerstagsmonochrom. Happy Thursday Monochrome. Thank You In Advance, I appreciate your interest and I THANK YOU FOR YOUR VISIT! I’m going to be very busy for a month or two. Packing up and cleaning this cluttered and dirty crib. Guests are coming. So my time will be limited. Of course being addicted to my iPhone, I won’t abandon making photos to share. I’m sure everyone realizes that photographer’s are egotistical, eccentric, and self centered etc. etc
And most of us are loving individual’s with great humor, generosity, loyalty, respect, and kindness. When not holding a camera đŸ“±! 😉😂

True belonging is not passive. It's not the belonging that comes with just joining a group. It's not fitting in or pretending or selling out because it's safer. It's a practice that requires us to be vulnerable, get uncomfortable, and learn how to be present with people without sacrificing who we are.

Dr. Brené Brown

Belongingness entails an unwavering commitment to not simply tolerating and respecting difference, but to ensuring that all people are welcome and feel that they belong.

John A. Powell

Today, if we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.

Mother Theresa, Saint Teresa of Calcutta

The most important thing in all human relationships is conversation, but people don't talk anymore, they don't sit down to talk and listen. They go to the cinema, watch television, listen to the radio, read books, update their status on the internet, but they almost never talk. If we want to change the world, we have to go back to a time when warriors would gather around a fire and tell stories

Paulo Coelho

We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It's easy to say, ‘It's not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem.’ Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes.

Fred Rogers

Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.

Winston Churchill

When we choose to wonder about people we don’t know, when we imagine their lives and listen for their stories, we begin to expand the circle of those we see as part of us.

We must remain hopeful that a universal ethic of courage, caring, sharing, respect, radical compassion, and love will make a difference. We can never be too generous or too kind.

Marc Bekoff

I believe that we are here for each other, not against each other. Everything comes from an understanding that you are a gift in my life — whoever you are, whatever our differences.

Thank you to all my friends and followers who have viewed, faved & commented on my latest work. You are, as ever, so generous to me and I appreciate your support so much.

This is just a little update to let you know that I will be getting back to you as soon as I can to enjoy your lovely work, as you know I like to catch up with all your galleries.

I am more behind than usual as I have just had to undergo some extensive dental work, as I have been in some discomfort for some time. But apart from my face still feeling numb from the anaesthetic a day on I am feeling much better! Bit more sleep will work wonders no doubt.

Then I will be getting back to you all.

I thought you might like to see an image of my latest purchase
.recently, I have been converting what used to be termed a ‘drawing room’ [which basically meant it contained the telly and a sofa in it!] to a second ‘office’ and reading room for me, as my top attic space in my Victorian house in the summer is becoming like a furnace and far too hot to work in at certain times of the year. This downstairs room is perfect as it is the coolest in the house, and as we don’t use it like we used to, it made much more sense to turn it into something else where it will be used to help me in my endeavours!

So I bought a Mahogany Wood Victorian Desk. I had been looking for some time for the right one, and eventually I found this one - dated 1815 to 1890, when the furniture makers were in business, based in London.

So now it is sitting quite nicely in the bay window, with an early Victorian chair that I already had. I tried other modern chairs but they were the wrong height. This was perfect.

I know a writer used this desk originally, as there are ink stains in the drawers, which I absolutely love, so I feel that the desk has come back to a Victorian home where it hopefully belongs.

Writing and taking photographs is my life, so I am hoping to share more of that journey with you. But now...its time for some more painkillers!

All my love for now, Shelley x

Take a look in my album Gothenburg !

Gothenburg was founded as a heavily fortified, primarily Dutch, trading colony in 1621. In addition to the generous privileges (e.g. tax relaxation) given to his Dutch allies from the then-ongoing Thirty Years`War, the king also attracted significant numbers of his German and Scottish allies to populate his only town on the western coast. At a key strategic location at the mouth of the river Göta Àlv, where Scandinavia's largest drainage basin enters the sea, the Port of Gothenburg is now the largest port in the Nordic countries.

Gothenburg is home

Masthugg Church was built in 1914. Its position on a high hill (Masthugget) close to the city and near the river Göta-Älv makes it a striking sight – the church tower is 60 m (200 ft) high in itself. The church, which has become one of the symbols of Gothenburg, is a popular tourist attraction.

Sjömanstornet, is a 44 meter high tower that was erected in memory of Swedish sailors who perished during the First World War. At the top of the tower is a five meter high bronze sculpture popularly called the Sailor's Wife. The top of the statue, including the sculpture, stands 62 meters above sea level. The sailor's tower is designed as a column and built in yellow brick

The new building of the Court of Law of Amsterdam was opened today and I went to look at the huge statue (5 metres high) in its forecourt. It's a sculpture by Nicole Eisenman (1965-) with the name 'Love or Generosity'. The playful - note his striped pants - giant lad is examining what he's collected in his right - law is right - hand. There's the Owl of wisdom and knowledge, the Arrow of perseverance and focus, and the Acorn of growth and patience.

Curiously, no reference to law's duty to impartially correct injustice and to punish evil... unless I'm missing something.

we experience life...with all the feelings of happiness, sadness, hurts, fears, and angers...but what is important...is that the light of truth always shines in our Heart...that beyond feelings...is that we are a people of love, respect, kindness, generosity, forbearance, forgiveness, and peace...amongst many virtues that we all have...

To my amusement, I was generously granted several dirt showers during that racing event. This one here was one of them. There is no photo available of the passing race car, just guess why!

How generous is this?

I got home from vacation last Monday to find a package from Sandra, aka, Sexy Swedish Babe. Inside was the following message and the brightly colored scarf i'm wearing:

Rita!

Finally--here it is...the scarf that was inspired by all the vibrant colors I've seen in your stream. I know it's summer and really warm, but i do hope you'll get to wear it eventually! Haha!

Love, Sandra

P.S! I thought it might amuse you to know that this yarn (a blue one) was also used in Myla Kent's scarf!!!! (Myla has my same birthday)

Not only is sexy swedish babe the most beautiful woman on flickr, she is also one of the most generous and talented!

Thank you Sandra! I now must think of a way to reciprocate.

The Sun made the shot, the Sea created the texture and the Sky gave the seeming backdrop.

Take a glorious supreme Sun and a great superb Sea and a grand splendid Sky and that is all it took.

Of course there could have been a Shore, a generous subtle Shore.

There was not a Shore, not a generous subtle Shore for viewers to generously serenely adore.

Only a philosophy of eternity, in the world today, could justify non-violence.

Real generosity toward the future lies in giving all to the present.

Real nobility is based on scorn, courage, and profound indifference.

Retaliation is related to nature and instinct, not to law. Law, by definition, cannot obey the same rules as nature.
