A Board Note from the She's Geeky vlogging session. It tells about a converter for windows systems that for free will convert a .WMV into QuickTime.
Day 279 of 365 (Year Two)
Add one more notch to my belt of geekiness! Today my friends Mike, Steve, Sean and I (Tony couldn't make it) recorded our first podcast. I can tell you that speaking into a microphone for something like this is, well, rather strange. After quite a few false starts we got into the groove of it and I think once Mike is done editing we'll have a decent first broadcast.
After Dragon*Con 2007 we sort of kicked the idea around, but it wasn't until after this past Dragon*Con that we actually decided to go ahead with it. In the past two years, those of us in the group, have been to a number of cons. We've met with and discussed our ideas with several who already podcast and we think we found a particular niche that hasn't really been podcasted about, although with all the podcasts out there, we could be wrong about that.
Like I said, Mike still has to edit all the material we have into a presentable format and once that it done we will reassess where we are at. If we have enough for a decent 30 minute podcast then we'll publish it and move on from there. If we are lacking, then we'll go back and re-record and then see where we are at. Today was more about setting the feel and getting used to talking into a mic. I can tell you I had a few freeze up moments. As easy as it sounds, it was difficult at times.
Once we feel we have a marketable product we'll go live and I'll let anyone interested know more of the details. We have taken the first steps though, and that is the most important step.
I got this from the Night Kitchen in Mount Airy. Tasted great, and it turned out pretty darn well. All of the geeks at the party (myself included) where examining it to see if it was structured correctly. It was ;)
This is a guy who visited our floor with a demon puppet that he prepared himself. It was the first thing he had sown, and while it does not look as professional as the stuff in The Muppet Show/etc., it still looked pretty cool.
I don't remember the demon's name, but when I asked him if I can touch his horns, he said he'd rather not. So I touched them anyway, and he tried to bite me.
What could be better than spending a wet Saturday afternoon building one of the largest jigsaws with friends and junk food!
I decided to get a tattoo ages ago and, since my interests (read 'manias') have changed over the years I wanted a tattoo that represent a bit of everything.
I didn't get it all in there but I'm very pleased how it turned out.
A new cross-stitch by my wife now adorns my office wall. She made this by creating a pattern from a photo of another cross-stitch someone had done. It's from the pixilated intro to the UK sitcom "The IT Crowd". I love this (and my wife for making this for me)! Shown here along with another one she made for me - penguins!

Here is most of the gadget hardware I carry around on a daily basis. Two things not in the frame: My ipod because I forgot to take it out of my coat, and my camera, and if you can't figure out why the camera is missing I'm not gonna tell you.
