We had three-day passes to San Francisco's WonderCon 2011, but barely used them. I got my fill meeting Bill Sienkiewicz and getting a sketch from the equally legendary Sergio Aragonés - the rest of the time was for us. And head out we did! Next stop was the Castro - SF's gay district, which I'd not fully investigated last time.
So I realized today while Christmas shopping with my mom that I am a geek! Yep, I'm a geek. I kept pointing things out that I liked, such as movies and books and board games. . . I saw a board game I really want that my brother likes also and my Mom said I'd probably like it more than him. . . Only then did I realize how nerdy I sounded. . . Oh geez. . .
This very thin device sits between your SIM card and its socket in your mobile, supposedly unlocking it. Viewed under 20x magnification via the microscope's eyepiece.
I recently rebuild my DVD drive stand, and then added this 7-port USB hub holder to clean off my desk
We also found a bunch of old reels of experimental polygraph tape. Kind of amazing how much technology's progressed, really.
Today a friend of my dropped by :) She has a cute pullip girl, and I borrowed her pink ballet clothes for my girls x3 My geeky ballet girls! :D
Fientje enjoyed it, but she couldn't see a lot while she took of her glasses, so she was a bit scared to dance. Vera didn't like it at all! x3

A> Quite obviously, install Linux. Hurrah!
Though currently Yellow dog uses only 2 cores, has no accelerated support for the nVidia hardware, and it can be a bit of a pain setting up the display.
Sadly, neither this nor the telly belong to me.
Like many of my friends, Carter read everything with print that was within reach. Here, his lunch trash has been packed back into the take-out bag and he is studying the placemat. I think this is one of the placemats NASA gave away at a science fair. They may have been intended for children but they are perfect for techno-geeky adults.

Yes! Finally! It came out...
Was feeling a bit depressed, today, so when things were getting bad, I grabbed a couple friends and went to see "Godzilla". It was very good, although I think it had a few stumbling points. The only real female part in the film should have been a lot stronger than she was: the wife of the hero was a nurse (or doctor; it's not made expressly clear) and she should have been a lot stronger.
And, yes, there were a few cheesy parts (that were pure fan-service)...
But I really, really liked it.
Godzilla, himself, was awesome! Big, giant, stompy, radioactive lizard...
...Beating up Cloverfield monsters...
...As it should be.
