I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape - the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn't show. ~Andrew Wyeth

Ylläsjärvi, Finnish Lapland, March 2022

Taken with a Tokina AT-X PRO 28-70 f/2.8 lens.

It surprised us with awesome white trees and a lot of frost, but the canal I live nearby, was not frozen and reflected so wonderfully.

After EA's comment: this picture is not decolourized, actually, I had to lighten it up a bit ;-)

Cumberland Falls in Kentucky shows off her brilliant rainbow. Low angle sunlight hits the mist created by the roaring falls, and breaks the light into its' constituent colors.

A beautiful scene I happened upon in the morning during a most excelent snowshoe adventure.

Sometimes you see something that makes you wonder what on earth it is... This picture is definitely one of those things. Welcome to Finland - or as we called it during our trip, Welcome to Narnia.

These pine trees are located on a fjell (mountain) in North East Finland - one of the highest annual snowfall areas in Finland. These trees definitely look like something from another planet. I still have hard time believing that there are trees underneath all that snow. But there you go, nature never ceases to amaze! It sure was an amazing experience walking amongst these frozen trees.

12.366: Lake Erie was very choppy January 3rd, causing ice to form on the lake side as waves crashed into them. The photo was taken in the late afternoon adding the nice warm color to the photo. This photo is also an HDR composed of 3 shots 0 and +/-1 ev.

On March 4/5, 2008, we had quite an ice storm in my area.

My favorite local news station, 19 Action News, dubbed this "Ice Storm '08."
