A wonderful winter walk with wonderful Friends

Living in the shadows,

Crawling in the dark,

Another face you will never see,

Another voice you will never hear...

A beautiful day after a heavy snow storm.

I was just lucky enough to catch the right time before the lucid cristals started to melt from the trees.

This is our Blue Spruce Tree… hope it doesn't break.

Some of the trees along our street did not survive the ice storm.

After the best part of a week of freezing fog much of South West Scotland looked like it had snowed. With a brief gap in the gloom this tree stood out as worthy of a photo in a field between Broomhills and Cogries Farm in Annandale, Dumfries & Galloway.

The Quadrangle was part of the grounds of the University of Dixie, commonly called "Dixie College", chartered 18 November 1909. Jere Whitson and other Cookeville citizens led a drive for the college. Whitson donated 12 acres for the institution. Construction began 16 May 1911. In September 1912, high school and junior college classes began in a building where Derryberry Hall now stands. In 1915, the Dixie Board ceded its property to the State to endow the present University.

This photo was taken after the ice and snow fall that caused Tech to shut down for the whole week. This is an unprecedented occurrence for TTU. In four years as a student, we missed a grand total of zero days for weather!!

Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D5200 and combined with Photomatix to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6.

An incredible winters day in January. The Kymi stream stays unfrozen even at -18C (0F), creating a beautiful mist and painting the trees white.

Sibbald Creek Trail, west of the City of Calgary, provides an alternate route to Kananaskis Country in Alberta. Also known as Highway 68, it begins at its intersection with Highway 40 and ends at Highway 1.

I travel that road only in the winter, less dusty than the rest of the year. It is nowhere as busy, we saw only 2 other vehicles during the 4 hours we were there. The weaher forcast was mix of sun and clouds. We got clouds, fog and snow. The temperature was -19 Celcius.

The light was difficult and changing. he upside is that the images do not look like postcards.
