Overnight at -20 C. the bay had frozen over, by the following night most of the lake's surface had solidified to ice.

It looks and feels like Winter, but officially it is still Autumn
In the foreground, there are remnants of some Autumn coloured foliage.
Very cold mist hangs over the lake as it starts to freeze over.

After a record-setting summer for heat here in Canada, reality sets in... Is it any coincidence that the name of the next four months ends in "BRRRRR!"
back in Australia reflecting on the past few weeks and the year ahead.
Here’s a shot taken on a clear and cold day up in the Continental Divide of the Canadian Rockies between Banff National Park in Alberta and Mt Assiniboine Provincial Park in British Columbia.

A beautiful day after a heavy snow storm.
I was just lucky enough to catch the right time before the lucid cristals started to melt from the trees.

Left Nebraska today an heading to Casa Grande AZ. So far my trip away from my western routes has been terrible for photography, freezing rain and ice, awful sky's mostly. I stopped just North of both Kansas Cities in Missouri on I-29. Not a rest area per se, just a truck parking area. Anyway the trees, and well everything were coated with a thick layer of ice. I got out and took pictures with my 90mm macro, some macros, some just regular. My hands limited my time out, 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Then just before taking off I looked across the interstate and liked the big tree and winter clouds. So I grabbed my a9 with my long zoom lens and took this shot from out of my drivers side window. Had to time my shots to miss trucks and cars going by. Trucker photography, you get what you can, when you can.
Oh, a little later while dropping off my empty trailer and hooking up to my preloaded trailer, I slipped and fell on the ice. Landed hard on my left hip and left elbow. The elbow just got a rug burn, not too bad. My hip is another story. At first it hurt and I could see it was going to bruise, but I could walk ok. A few hours later, and even now it's a mess. I can hardly walk. I did report the fall to my company right afterwards, just in case it was more serious than my initial thought. Anyway, kinda sucks, but I'm sure it will get better, but probably worsened tomorrow, and I'll be fine by the time I get to my delivery. So be careful friends, I know I thought I was, but obviously not enough.
Here's a link to a macro of ice coated tree branches. Pretty thick ice.
My grandchildren wanted snow to play in but they were teased with a light snow followed by freezing rain through the night.
