A beautiful day after a heavy snow storm.
I was just lucky enough to catch the right time before the lucid cristals started to melt from the trees.
Schwarzwaldhochstrasse near Kniebis/Freudenstadt, Black Forest Germany.
Taken around 7 a.m. sunrise when the air temp was -14 degrees. No wind though so it was somewhat comfortable setting up the tripod and shoot. But it was cold.
This tree reminds me so much of the Ents in the Lord of the Rings.
THANKS TO ALL FOR YOUR COMMENTS, FAVES, ETC.
Out around town and found this scene that accurately depicts the weather results over the last week. Everything is covered in a thick layer of ice with snow on top. Although the weather this past week has resulted in a lot of precipitation, there has also been periods, or days even, of beautiful blue skies and even some white puffy clouds like in this photo. Just a typical winter in Middle Tennessee...
Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D5200 and combined with Photomatix to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6.
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." ~Jeremiah 29:11
-26 celcius, but it was worth it. Had something of a foggy night and all was frosted the next morning. Olympus XA, Portra 400 film.

Today I got inspired by a picture of Algo - www.flickr.com/photos/algo/2113988513/ and shot this and another one from my bed room window. It is not as good as his, but it will do :) Thank you my dear friends for your great comments, faves and invites - with which you always make my day. (((HUGS))) and enjoy your Happy Holidays with family and friends!
North Ridge Trail - a peaceful and quiet hike up the AT into Sky Meadows during one of the few storms to come through Northern VA this year.

A heavy overnight frost ensured that people in many parts of Britain woke up to a Winter wonderland this morning. Here in Nottinghamshire, I recorded -11c degrees on the car's outside ambient air temperature gauge, but I know that it was as cold as -17c in rural parts of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. This may not seem that cold to our Flickr friends in more Northern climbs, but it is pretty cold for the UK in December.
Stapleford Lane, Toton, Notts, 7th December 2010.
An incredible winters day in January. The Kymi stream stays unfrozen even at -18C (0F), creating a beautiful mist and painting the trees white.
Shot with Canon 7D + Sigma 18-200
