CSX B731 exits the west end of Walpole Tunnel on the MBTA Franklin Branch. This train has just made the run on the main from Readville and will soon take the switch at Walpole Interlocking. From Walpole the train will take the Framingham Secondary north for the Nevins Yard in Framingham.

Mitte Februar fanden umfangreichere Gleisbauarbeiten in Lippstadt und Geseke statt. Im Zuge dessen gab es mehrere Schotterpendel zu den Schotterwerken in Bochum und Recklinghausen, hier hat 232 088 der Intertourex am 15.02.2026 eine Fuhre Altschotter und Aushub aus der Baustelle Lippstadt nach Bochum bei Lünern am Haken.

Exiting the west end of Tunnel 41, Union Pacific 566 and Flanger “Norden” begin their descent along the western slope of the Donner Pass Route. The UP 566 will continue west for another 25 miles before making “the flip” and returning towards Truckee. During the winter months, consistent flanger operations allow Union Pacific to operate the “snowiest mainline route in America”.
Running just above the busy mainline is the “Village Gondola”. This system transports skiers and visitors between the parking lots of Donner Pass Road and the Lodge at Sugar Bowl. In the 1930’s, the Southern Pacific Railroad ran ski trains from the Bay Area to Norden. Passengers aboard the “snowball specials” would leave Oakland at midnight, arriving at Sugar Bowl by daybreak.. Could a modern day ski train could alleviate traffic along the busy Interstate 80 corridor?

Après un trajet de près de 3 heures depuis Matapédia, le train 565 de la SCFG franchit le mille 66 de la subdivision Cascapédia. New Richmond, terminus du train, n’est plus qu’à 3 milles, mais le même train représente tira tôt le lendemain matin, avec une équipe différente mais tout aussi sympathique en direction de la cimenterie de Port-Daniel. Remarquez la peinture rouge de la livrée Multimark du CP qui refait surface sur le toit de la 1865.

New Richmond is only three miles away, but the same train would leave the small town early the next morning, with a different but equally friendly crew, heading for the Port-Daniel cement plant.
