A big thanks to Life Framer for the Honorary Mention in their After Dark theme.
“From his series ‘Progress Park’ – an ode to the geometric ‘landscaping’ of urban business parks – Bill’s image is a powerful musing on the role of nature in today’s society. Whether it’s stoically holding on against the concrete and asphalt, or leaning in defiance against the rigid horizontals of fence posts and walls, this small tree looks incongruous and absurd against the barren, sculpted landscape. By employing a slow enough shutter speed to render the night sky a daytime blue, Bill effectually underlines this strange dichotomy. Nothing is quite as it seems.” – Life Framer
An extremely long exposure gives Shuswap Lake a unique look. It appears to be a solid sheet of ice when in fact it is simply calm. An added and unexpected bonus is the overall white it has taken on from the sky overhead.
My goal was to capture the cloud that is playing near the top of the distant mountain. Catching clouds above it, further aids in the overall balance of the image. And, allowing the land to form a silhouette, frames the cloud and the photo is complete.

…I've taken thousands of deer pictures and I'm always looking to find a different take on them. This is one but, a very grainy, low light through our window and being cropped out 80%. So...I used a glow & splattered brush stroke effect. It's funny how this mama deer thinks she's hidden from me, framed in the trees & limbs; while starring right at me from 40 yards away.
