AAW: I thought it would be nice to continue with compositional techniques this week - filling the frame is another technique to make images more interesting.
Restrictions: No people in the shot.
Dare: None that I can think of...
WIT: I've found someone to get together with who also wants to do some challenges, so we went for a walk in Fish Creek Park and took pictures. I took this one with this assignment in mind.

In 1962 the house wad demolished and a local group saved the timbers, and it was rebuilt, leading to the first exhibit at the Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings in 1967.

The lever frame at Newhaven Harbour, as can be seen most of the frame is still in use although two of the roads in Marine station are currently O.O.U owing to point issues. This means the trains for Newhaven Incinerator can't be run round at present and so are Top and Tailed.
Little Loch Broom from inside the old schoolhouse.
Not only was there the wood panelling still inside, but there was cupboards in the alcoves next to the chimney too!
This picture shows just how complex the joinery is in Timber Frame construction. Imagine having to understand where each and every one of these pieces would fit and then fabricating the mortices and tenons the shop piece by piece. Its a highly skilled process.
The Done House by Glenn Murcutt; Even the outer wall of the courtyard (and the house) has penetrations looking out to Rosherville Reserve. Most of the penetrations in this house have angled edges to help direct the view and make the wall look thicker than it actually is. Like all the exterior windows, this penetration has a sliding sunshade to help control light.
This old railroad bridge in Harrisburg, PA is impressive to see in person. It used to hold four tracks but today has only two in the interests of safety. I just missed a train going across and even though I waited around for a while, no other trains passed. It was still beautiful enough to snap several shots of. For a structure built back in 1902, it still holds the record as being the longest stone masonry arch railway viaduct in the world!
