My sport frames have curves, rubber padding, and plastics, to make them so comfortable and durable that I can sleep in them. It seems like throughout history, the most comfortable glasses can always be found in the sports and safety industry.

Taken as part of the "ordinary world" assignment for a Level 1 Miksang photography course.
The latest in eyeglass frames at my eye Doctor's. I like some of these retro frames, but I only needed a contact lens refill this visit.
I have been shooting alot of reflections lately, though in this photo I was really interested in the frames of the door. The reflection was really just what the frame happened to contain.
(1) I was very much against it
(2) I didn't know how to do it
But I've started to appreciate nicely framed photos on flickr, and I finally found out a very simple way to do it. Expect experimentation with this technique.
The photo is from the archives; one of my first with the (then) new Canon EOS 30D that I did in raw.
Here is what I did:
1) Open picture
2) make the background into a layer
3) make a new layer and put it below the photo layer
4) resize the canvas; use the relative sizing option to uniformly add 50, 100, 150, pixels around the photo. Now the underlying layer sticks out around the photo.
5) paint the lower layer with the color you want for your border (using paintbucket)
This can be repeated to have multiple borders. For example, in this photo, I first created a 50px white border and then a 20px black border
We have grand plans of swapping photos out regularly, asking you guys to send us pics, etc. The two biggest frames' pics will be sent out to be printed at their full size, but for now we've got photos in the mats.
Whilst I am a fan of Mercian bikes, I have to admit that there are many excellent bespoke frame manufacturers in the UK. One of these is Brian Rourke in Burslem, Stoke on Trent and close to where I lived in my pre-teenage years. This bike frame was hand built for Andrew, who then stripped one of his existing bikes to build his own perfect dream machine.

After lots of trying moments, a lot of anxiety and many swear words, All of the frames are finally finished! I am making progress. To help ease the burden of building this, I have recruited my brother to help me with some of the redundant work and to speed things along. I have already started adding panels to the center. We are currently on track I think for displaying this thing this year, but it's still too early to tell. I got to buy a lot more parts and build and wire the engines still, which is intimidating. Stay tuned for more updates.

A few months ago I stumbled across a gallery on Queen West in Toronto that was shutting it's doors. Turns out they had sixty of these gorgeous frames looking for a home - all 11x14 in black wood frames. Needless to say, I'm now planning a massive photo wall in my place with some of my favourite prints. I still have a few empties, so feel free to make suggestions on which photos to include, but I love how they look so far.
For those of us on Flickr, having our photos exist in a digital state has it's perks. But nothing compares to the art of developing, matting, and framing something you created - especially for the space that you live and/or work in. Highly recommended project.
