The museum building was built in the 1890s and is of exceptional value as a monument of historic heritage architecture. As part of the tour you will get acquainted with the history of the house, visit the "live" workshops, where man-made things are created in a variety of traditional and unique techniques. To creates these living sculptures small feats of amazing garden and mechanical engineering need to be performed, lay out of the metal frames, covering them with mesh understructure to support the moss and earth needed to grow the designs each sculpture with an embedded irrigation system that forms an underlying network of drinking tubes for the plants.
We continue on our visit of the works presented in MosaïCanada 150 by traveling from the last East Coast display to one from the West Coast capturing the spirit of the West Coast First Nations artwork, here is a Haida Black Fish or as the less indigenous call them killer whales.
Killer whales are considered guardians of the village as well as a revered medicine animal in the Pacific First Nations symbolizing power and strength sighting one is considered a potent omen some tribes also believe that hunters lost to the sea return as a “Black Fish” and become protectors of mankind.
I took this on Aug 10, 2017 with my D750 and Nikon 16-35mm f4 Lens at 23mm 1/40 sec f/16 ISO100 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia, Topaz , and DXO

I like to get wood for the picture frames I make from locally harvested wood. My friend Greg mills northcountry wood for a living with his “Wood-Mizer” band saw. He’s my source for pine, and cedar - red and white. I love watching him at work with meticulous virtuosity with his saw and front loader. Here, on a crisp autumn day, he tackles a near ton of White Pine. He’ll remove 1-inch boards from all four sides, until he has a square piece twelve by twelve, and then finish with four six by six beams.
