Seen here pulling a freight train at the NC Transportation Museum on one of the many photo shoots. Late in life 611 often times pulled freight. Beginning to suffer steam withdrawal symptoms.
....is that the way forward is often impeded by cattle, and then I start to see weird things, and can't decide whose head belongs to whose body?
This image was shot behind the steering wheel of my car on an early morning ride to Tomales Point, and touched up a bit for Slider's Sunday.
Happy Slider's Sunday everyone

Lot's of company at the house at the moment. I'll catch up to you all during the coming week.
Forward swept wings are an obvious feature of both the S-37 (left) from Russian and the X-29 (right) from the US. The latter was purely intended as a research aircraft and to save costs and because it didn't have to carry weapons or combat systems, the aircraft could be made quite small. The Sukhoi design was intended to eventually replace the Su-27 Flanker as Russia's air superiority fighter, and consequently was supposed to have a long range and advanced sensor systems and it had an internal weapons bay. As a result it's a big beast. Both of these models were built at the same scale of roughly 1/40, so the size comparison is realistic.
Again, you can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.

Woman having to carry the purchases on a day of extreme heat. Translation of the sign written in Hebrew and Arabic: "Entrance to buses is prohibited, except public transport."
Mmmm....a tasty confection if ever I saw one. It's a shame to let beautiful lingerie hide out of sight all the time....so I make sure to air Daisy's out from time to time. ❤️️
You know, I can hardly believe it's almost time to run the clocks forward again. I don't know about you folks....but Daisy and I are VERY pleased to get this crummy winter behind us! 😊

Swedish regional airline Amapola Flyg, which started out carrying mail & then passenger operations, internally in Sweden & to Finland using a fleet of Dutch built turboprop Fokker 50's are now in Ireland in 2021.
On the 26th July 2021, Amapola relaunched the Dublin to Donegal ( Carrickfinn ) route which had ceased on the 12th June with the collapse of Stobart Air.
Operating twice daily flights between Donegal @ 0820 & 1640 returning from Dublin @ 1510 & 1820 hrs on weekdays with a reduced weekend service. Carrickfinn Airport has been voted the nicest airport approach for the last 4 years, right on the edge of the north west Ireland.
Fokker 50 SE-MFY has been operating the route from the beginning. It was delivered to DLT in March 1990 & has been with carriers such as Lufthansa, VLM, Cityjet & lastly Air Antwerp until their demise earlier in 2021.
Single fares on the Dublin-Donegal route, which is operated on a PSO ( public service obligation ) by the Irish Government currently start at 55 euros each way.
My thanks to the amazing cockpit crew that day, Captain David, FO Thomas & cabin crew Isak for their warmth & kindness, along with the co-operation of ground staff at Carrickfinn Airport for these photos.
Well worth a spin.

I took this photo a couple of weeks ago and quite like how it turned out apart from the lighting. Bearing that in mind I liked the relaxed feel of the photo. I was wearing a Per Una top and a skirt from the sadly missed East company.
Hopefully the Astra Zeneca vaccine will be approved in the U.K. today and we can start vaccinations in earnest and start beating the virus.

Thoroughly dominating the main hall of the California State Railroad Museum is one of the most impressive steam locomotives that I have ever seen displayed indoors. Weighing in at more than 650,000 lbs, and having over 124,000 lbs of tractive effort, this powerful 4-8-8-2 locomotive was built for the Southern Pacific Railroad for use on mountain routes, where long snow-sheds and tunnels were commonplace. The front-end exhaust of conventional steam locomotives typically filled such structures with hot, toxic gasses which could easily asphyxiate crew members on the train. To solve that problem the SP built several classes of "Cab-Forwards", such as this Class AC-12. They offered the crew not only cleaner air to breathe, but fantastic forward visibility, although their ability to watch their engine's workings was diminished considerably. The use of oil as a fuel allowed the firebox to be moved to the forward end of the locomotive...something that was impossible with solid fuels. The 4294 was the last member of the ultimate class of cab-forwards and only enjoyed a relatively short service life, from 1944 to 1956. When these locomotives were retired, all but one...the one seen here, were scrapped. Thanks to a good relationship between the Railway and Locomotive Historical Society and the SP, this one was preserved. After spending some time as an outdoor display, she was restored and brought to the California State Railroad Museum, where she is clearly the centerpiece of their display. The cab is open for viewing daily and is manned continuously by museum docents.
This little bird wanted to make friends and followed me while I was taking pictures. Here he's on a surf board bench, back made of bamboo. He's welcome to photobomb anytime.

Looking forward to these little blooms growing over the summer. This year, we seem to have lots of rain & little sun. Last year, we had little rain & lots of sun!

I drove myself crazy trying to get her to lean forward enough that her elbow rested on her thigh. I finally got my daughter to press on the back of her shoulder and cropped the human hand out of the right side of this shot.
