Forward torpedo room on the USS Silversides SS-236, most famous surviving American submarine of WWII.
"Well if you feel uncomfortable at any stage just let me know" all the while knowing that I was going to be uncomfortable myself all the way up this slope. The weather was now getting pretty wild and the visability dissapearing. I was on the fence on this one and offered to turn back again. Might as well keep going hey...Rod's reply to my offering him an out.
There was only one thing to do now. Upwards! We dumped the packs and took only the climbing gear and some water to save weight, energy, and time. Now this is why I had done the course the previous year. There's nothing quite like testing yourself against the elements and feeling that pump of adrenalin when the first foot steps forwards. This is it. The final test.
We moved on the slope and the terrain continued to get steeper, but the snow conditions were good and the axe felt solid. Our legs and arms didn't feel quite so solid but we pushed on. Occasionally I would cut a stance so we could rest, this was one of those moments. However, while cutting one particular stance the point end of my axe cut through my pants. In my anxious and tired state I unleashed a fury of swings into the icy snow and yelled my frustrations into the wind. I could almost feel the summit slipping away.
Despite the steep terrain and exposure my thoughts were fixated on the rock step up above. It seemed too risky and on the dodgy rock I was really apprehensive. But at this stage it was shrouded in cloud. Out of sight but not out of mind.

What happens when the original plan turns into a dumpster fire? You pull out all the stops to fix the issue(s). Raritan must have had one hell of an overnight, as every set seemed to be thrown off kilter or delayed. What is normally a solid set of Multilevels on 5718 is a mixed consist of Comets and a rescue GP40, leading long hood forward. Less than 12 hours earlier, 4108 was on the Hoboken Division Aqua train. Not too often in today's era of commuter railroads do you get to see a long hood forward Geep pulling a revenue train.
4108 glides across the Lehigh Line, toting a handful of Comet cars and an ALP45DP through Newark, NJ. They're running a few minutes late, as 5416 was only a block ahead, just passing Hunter Interlocking.

SET 1 – HLT Remodel: 3-11-2023
One last shot for this set, and of course, it’s yet another view of the emptied-out sporting goods area along the back wall (our final look at it, so y’all can breathe a sigh of relief, haha!). I do like how this more drawn-back angle shows you a very interesting detail in the store’s P97 design: notice how the red neon “flows” (for lack of a better term) rightward, while the yellow neon pushes in the opposite direction. I believe I’ve discussed before how the angling of the neon was likely intentional, to help push and pull shoppers in Target’s desired direction throughout the salesfloor… but I’m not sure I’ve ever captured the dichotomy quite so obviously in one image before. (The reason these two colors “flow” different directions is most likely so that the neon on the two side walls of the store would be flowing the *same* direction – towards the back of the store – therefore subliminally keeping customers within the building, rather than “pushing” them toward the front, where the exit is.)
More from here soon, so stick around for that! In the meantime, up next – continuing onwards with our pre-remodel script décor tour of the Madison Colony Crossing Kroger…

One of the stops I was really looking forward to was our visit to Wrigley Field. I've been to Chicago several times, but never had the opportunity to visit the "Friendly Confines". The Cubs were not playing the weekend we visited so we elected to take the Wrigley Field Tour. The tour was really great. We learned all about the history of the park and were given access to the box seats, bleachers, press box, club houses and even were allowed in the dugout and field. Pretty cool experience!

I am really looking forward to getting back up to WV in a little over a week to do some autumn photography with my friends up there! To get myself in the Potomac Highlands "mood," I went back through some of my images from eary summer up there. I found this one and thought it was a perfect candidate for CS5. There was so much contrast in this shot even with great shooting conditions, but being able to selectively increase or decrease the exposure in certain areas really helped out this shot alot. They say imitation is the highest form of flattery, and I saw an image like this on Randy Sanger's stream, so I had to get one myself. Thanks again Randy for showing me a favorite spot of yours and the photographic "inspiration." Randy is a great photographer, person, and friend, and you should check out his photostream at www.flickr.com/photos/chasingwaterfalls

"The past cannot be changed. The future is yet in your power." - Mary Pickford
Sometimes we feel empty. but hold on. It may seem like no one stands for you, no body loves you, and you are all alone.... really? There must be someone out there without saying anything because they want you to stand up again on your own. Love has various shapes. :) you are not alone.
and you have photography to express yourself. thats a very strong tool. :)
Stay Happy.
"she wrote and etched in her heart and mind, that her very day and every day is the best day in her
life and she keeps such forward thinking and yet lives in the presence; and yet again, she toiled for
the anticipation of those masterpiece moments:)"
how did she did that? she zoomed in, she zoomed out, she resolved it. she stayed with the focus
and again she flowed, but in her flow, she never judged but only stayed rooted with faith and love.
and so does she stays and plays ~ forever happy:)
and she joyfully passed a message to me,
"being rooted is not about staying in past nor is being in flow about leading to future.. but it is the only forward thinking which makes you bound to purity and that is very now. Infact. "the now" in which
you see with unquestionable clarity."
prayers: let my innocence be of you. now and forever...

She followed slowly, taking a long time,
as though there were some obstacle in the way;
and yet: as though, once it was overcome,
she would be beyond all walking, and would fly:-)
