Valley Forge as occupied by regiments of the Colonial Army under command of General Washington in 1777.
I really wish I had done a FP or something different with the angling as the horizon line for this scene is too far off, but whatever. I'm still kind of happy with this scene. The main inspiration was trying to construct one of the log cabins the men built when they first arrived at the site.
Enjoy.
Even if reluctantly, we still must anticipate the coming of Autumn and the reality that Winter is just around the corner.
I know that I've lamented the cold and short duration of this last Summer, so I won't beat that point into the ground and will instead anticipate the golds and red's of Autumn and will hope that this year's leaves will be brilliant.
I just read an article this morning about the ten best places for Fall Color's and the Columbia River Gorge, rightfully so, was included in the list. The link can be found HERE. The article also features a great photo by my awesome Flickr friend Sarah. : )
And so in that spirit, I post a shot from last Autumn taken along Still Creek near my home here near Mount Hood.
Enjoy your Sunday my friends. : )

Let me unpack this scene. "Forward" is Wisconsin's state motto. It is also the name of this statue. It appears that “forward” is how past generations of Wisconsinites wanted to be remembered.
This is a replica of the aged "Forward" statue that originally stood in front of Wisconsin's state capitol. The original figure was created by artist, Ms. Jean Pond Miner (1865-1967), for the Columbian World Exposition of 1893 in Chicago. It was afterwards displayed inside Wisconsin's capitol building from 1893 to 1904. This female forward figure has stood outside since 1905.
It should be noted that on June 10, 1919 Wisconsin became one of the first states to vote in favor of ratifying the 19th Amendment, which gave American women the right to vote since 1920. In Britain, women universally received the right to vote in 1928.
No, I am not talking about the walk of this worker. I am talking about the life of them, born > work hard-harder-hardest > die :(
How unlucky they are :( ...
Taken with my wide angle, could only fit two out of three so stitched them together to give the view I had.
When I visited Boston, Honk Fest was on, the festival of activist street bands. I had the opportunity to listen to (and photograph) the Forward! Marching Band, "a community-based, democratic, music-making collective" from Wisconsin - great fun!
Where are are heading from? Where are we heading to?
That's up to your imagination.

"Light of the lonely pilgrim's heart,
Star of the coming day,
Arise, and with thy morning beams
Chase all our griefs away."
-Edward Denny 1842
Merry Christmas!
Sometimes I experiment with low quality versions of ideas, for posting on Instagram or just for fun. Not a formal work, necessarily.
Forward is an 1893 bronze statue by American sculptor Jean Pond Miner Coburn (1866–1967) depicting an embodiment of Wisconsin's "Forward" motto. The 1996 replica was located at the Wisconsin State Capitol grounds at the top of State Street before it was vandalized in 2020. The statue often is misidentified with the Wisconsin statue on top of the Capitol dome.

I need to finish this before continuing with Halo 5. Wow, do I have a backlog of titles to finish.
