This was taken from Waitts Mount park in Malden, Massachusetts, just north of Boston. It's a focus stack, with 30 frames blended into one with Photoshop.
Another try with the focus bracketing with the new E-M1 firmware 4.0....39 shot with 1 as differential at F2.8

Macro stack with Helicon Focus.
Testing macro stacking with Christmas flowers. This one is with 50 photos using automatic camera focus bracketing and Helicon Focus for stacking.
I had a Olympus EM-1 Mark II for awhile and its in-camera stacking feature was awesome. However, the photos looked very bland compared to A7RV photos. So much tonality missing, couldn't keep the Olympus just for the convenient macro feature. So now I'm experimenting macro stacking with my Sony and some extra PC software.
Focus bracketing works very well here, added a 2sec wait between the shots to guarantee that the lens can keep up to pace. Started the bracketing and went to read book. When camera was ready, copied the raw files to LRC, did minor edits, synced these to all pics, exported to JPG and applied Helicon Focus on the files. Quite impressive results with minimal effort!
Sony's focus bracketing feature is very useful after all. I'll be experimenting more with this!

This subspecies is nearly restricted to San Luis Obispo Co. and has California Rare Plant Rank: 4.2 (limited distribution). This taxon is separated locally from the much more common Coast Morning Glory, Calystegia macrostegia subsp. cyclstegia by several characters, including its fuzzy herbage, which you may be able to detect from the gray-green color of the leaf at top left.

A new colony of a large number of immature fungi emerging from the cut end of an old tree trunk in Surrey woodland. I believe this is Bitter Oyster (Panellus stipticus).

I chose this scene (& perspective) because it is one of the most concentrated patches of color in the vicinity. On April 4 the San Luis Obispo Tribune quoted Daniel Sinton (owner of the Shell Creek Rd. property which is so visited by flower-watchers) as saying it is a better display than last year. I disagree, as do the friends in my group.
This was less an exercise in in lighting and more an exercise in Photoshop. Five images stacked with Photoshop's Auto Blend Layers tool.
My real take away was that I need to use something other than glass for the reflective surface. Maybe I should break down and buy a piece of black plexi...
