Shot on my car roof at 3.4:1 bug is about 3mm long. Pic is focus stacked from 2 shots. Don't think the orange bit is anything to do with the midge:)

The tiny subject measures only 2-inches long by 1-1/4 inch wide. I set it on a battery charger just to get it up to more comfortable height for shooting.

This week, I was in the botanical garden for taking pictures. I did this fucus stacking exposure with 27 images. Finally the results are good enough to share it with you. There are still some imperfect areas, but in total the result is okay.

The blossom is as large as a ping-pong ball. Shot was done with help of a Sumikron macro rail. 27 exposures blended into one image.

This is the first time I have tried stacking images. A bit time consuming, but the results are worth it. 12 stacked images about 15mm across. 50mm Pentax SMC f1.7 lens reversed on auto bellows 60mm extension. Camera Pentax K-m. Single refelected flash. The equipment is about 30 years old but adapts well to the new digital age.

Single flower (7 mm) from a white clover blossom. 36 images taken with 50D and MP-E 65mm at ~2.5x using 0.12mm steps with a Cognisys StackShot and stacked in Zerene Stacker. Lit with MT-24EX @ 1/32 with diffusion gels.

Olympus digital camera, Focus stacking

The second of two I was working on just before my PC died; so now I'm caught up. This is an eight-image focus stack (not quite enough) but not an HDR. I used this to test the utility of "32 Float" on a single image. Useful!
