Reduced power to put me within range of Easter Island with some reserve fuel

I don't remember why I sped up here, likely an IRL timing issue to get me there before I had to leave the house. Reducing my error margin a bit but I know from past experience this will still leave me one go-around if needed

Top of descent towards Easter Island

Coming off AP to make my turn to base for a visual straight-in approach

Gear down, taking in the cruise ships parked off the island

I decide to pull up in front of the terminal, which was very well modeled

Looking north over Blue River Provincial Park towards Mont Humboldt peeking out from behind some clouds, tallest peak on the southern portion of the island, with a slightly taller peak on the northern

Southern tip of New Caledonia

Passing south of the Loyalty Islands

What is wrong with this picture?

My best view of Fiji thanks to storm clouds

One of many lovely blue atolls in the area of Fiji

Some of the Moalla Islands caught in the sun glint

More storms - hoping not to have to deal with any of this at my destination

Fuel situation still "good" - as in I could slow down and move out my reserve ring but I'm within my range ring so I'll be fine - right? RIght. Note how my tail wind has lost its gusto by now

Passing over the island of Niuatoputapu, Tonga

Craaap it was not supposed to be dark before arrival. I mis-calculated my no-later-than departure time it seems

Watching the light disappear

Top of descent towards the eastern-most island with an airfield in American Samoa

Coming down through the clouds

Lights of civilization out my window as I pass by American Samoa

I realize this is probably a good time to switch on my synthetic terrain display on the MFD - I usually don't bother because I find it distracting but there's nothing out the window to get distracted by...

I can make this work, I can make this work....

Attempting to spot the runway as I fly past on downwind

Coming around for my second and final attempt

Another AWESOME roll out onto final. No no, it's okay - I got this. Meanwhile anyone watching is like "this dude gunna die"

Came down for an average landing of 1.5Gs and successfully engaged reverse thrust. PHEW!!

So happy to be taxiing off the runway towards the tarmac rather than over running into the ocean

Straight-in to the middle parking spot, nice and easy

Waiting for daylight before continuing the journey east, contemplating my lessons learned!

Lake King Nature Reserve, with the large lake body not charted at all

Headed past the SAR station

Still climbing, backing off on the power a bit as my CHT climb past 250°C

Skimming the cloud bottoms as I take one last look back at the wet coast. Eerrr, I mean west coast

Well the coast will indeed be wet with all the rain pouring down on it, thankfully it looks like I'll remain to the north of any precipitation

I've realized that if I go in the order of the dials I'm unbalancing my plane. Top handle sets Left Upper wing tank then bottom handle rotates in the order of Right Upper, Right Lower then Left Lower. So I was draining both tanks on the right side before going back to the left. Now I skip the Right Lower and go from Right Upper to Left Lower then Right Lower and back to Left Upper

Lake Magenta Nature Reserve's squared boundaries are quite distinctive - to bad they don't show up on VFR charts

Lake Magenta is full up right now, unsurprising from all the rain, some of which can still be seen off in the distance
