Breaking through the clouds over Beaulieu-sur-Mer and turning towards the airport with Nice spread out before it

Looking back at Beaulieu-sur-Mer

setting up for downwind, no other planes on approach it appears - one just landed and the one on my radar seems to be outbound over the Mediterranean

Landing clearance granted and it looks like that flight is vectoring in around the rain storm?

I know I'm too low but I'm so used to short runways I have trouble going long on approaches and even though you don't actually have to touchdown between the touchdown marks I try to anyways

Taxiing towards the general aviation stands

Ready to get tugged to my parking spot - definitely don't want to pay a hefty fine!

Departure and arrival as I work through my shutdown checklist

Glad this will mostly be a headwind!

Lined up for departure, going though final checks

Managed to not stall and get into a good climb configuration as I depart from Wick

Trim recovered and autopilot engaged. Whew! That was sressful

Climbing for cruise altitude, leaving Wick behind and looking down at a wind-swept Northern Sea

Ooof, doesn't look like the TBM can sustain a 2000fpm climb as "Stall, Stall, Stall" warnings come through my headset and I hear the stick shaker rattling

Looking out over Scotland's Cairngorms National Park

UK airspace was busy busy busy and several flights came close enough I could actually make out their planes

I figured this would be the Bay something but nope, no name on Google Maps

Didn't fly too close to London for performance reasons, but that is indeed the River Thames wending above my plane with my nose stuck in the River Blackwater

Coming up on Canterbury and its satellite cities on the southeastern tip of the UK

Over the Strait of Dover looking towards the English Channel and heading towards France

Traffic stayed busy as I approached Paris

Closest encounter yet - he was actually climbing through my altitude but thankfully off to my side

A bit of haze hangs over Dijon as I turn onto my final AP-assisted leg

Approaching Geneva, looks like ski season is over for this area

Sitting up to keep the valley floor in view so I can compare its shape to the charts and keep track of my position

Following the river and highway that will lead me towards Courchevel

Zooming in my map to get a clearer look at the river layout to compare with the charts

Turning around inside the valley walls because why not add more challenge??

Completing the 180 and managing not to drift into a mountainside. Win!

Back around and lined up for approach. Can you spot the runway?

Anxiety about the short runway has me coming in waaay too slow

Manage to put on power and hold the airplane up until I make it over the runway. Now I just have to get my nose wheel down...

Getting ready for start up at Cold Bay, featuring some rare decent weather

Taxiing out - one of those windsocks is correct...

Looking out at Frosty Peak as I turn on to Rwy33

Departing Cold Bay from Rwy33

Keeping my eyes open for bears roaming the tundra

A bit of thaw as Pogromni Volcano becomes prominent on the horizon

Passing over the airfield to check that it is clear

Oh crap - look at the torque meter (upper-left corner of right-hand display) I failed to engage the reverser properly and am now speeding up after landing

Bit too wide this time on my base leg turn to final

There we go - full stop! Wow that reverser does take a few seconds to kick in but sure does pull you up quick

Purposeful take off this time...
