Happy New Year everyone!
I told myself not too long ago that I would never do another 365 (this will be my 4th) and then a few days ago, perhaps against my better judgement, I thought that maybe I would give it a try and if I did, I promised myself there would be absolutely no pressure and just do what I can. If I can't finish it, then that is ok. I already know I will not be posting daily and will be needing to play catch up - look at me already, one day behind in posting - haha! The rules of the project allows this and I am grateful. Life gets busy and I think we all need to go easier on ourselves. I do really enjoy taking and editing photos and the commitment of doing a 365 will push me to keep up with a pastime I enjoy. I plan on working with both my Nikon and my cell phone to take my photos. I enjoy doing macros, still life and flat lay photography so those will be mostly what I will be shooting.
So here I go, saying hello to 2023 and taking it one day at a time.
"Smile on Saturday" theme: Shape or spot the letter S.
This is a good way to get some feelings out...haha! I have been doing some Christmas baking and needed some crushed candy canes for decorating so this theme was certainly in good timing.
Thanks for visiting...Happy Saturday!
Some you may recognize, some you may not. I have a plate that sits off to the side in my studio that collects things I've photographed and other "potentials" because you just never know. Hope it makes you smile!
For the group: "Smile on Saturday", "Flat Lay"
If you visit the notes, I've embedded hyperlinks that will take you back in time to the original post. OK, It's a bit nuts I'll admit that, but it was fun and made me smile, you too perhaps??
100/100: 100 x challenge - Flowers
100 Flowers 2020
I hope I haven't offended anyone with the title but it really made me chuckle when I saw it. I think laughter is something we all need as this year draws to a close.
These beautiful flowers were sent to me by my son and daughter-in-law to cheer me up after a tough week...it really helped.
Thank you all for your friendship, comments and faves throughout this particularly trying year.
I wish you all health, happiness, love, inspiration and creativity in the coming year.
Another one using my hydrangea. Not altogether happy with the spoon handle going in the same direction as the hydrangea stem but didn't really notice it properly until after editing. I may try a slightly different composition another time.
It's almost the weekend so wishing you all a good one. Wee are going away to Norfolk for a few days, internet connection can be sketchy there but I will try to stop by.
A dash of brandy in my hot coffee helped warm me up as I raked the leaves.....
Have a fabulous day...

Day 360/365:
Definitely Dreaming - Something new - since the photo board is new I decided to add this to DD for this theme. I'm still behind!
This is another of the photo boards I had for Christmas. I just had to use it but had left it quite late in the day so a rushed flat lay that may be a little similar to others that I've done. Ah well, all is fair in a 365.
Lensbaby Trio 28, using the sweet setting...hence the title. For those not familiar with cockney rhyming slang. Rosie lee means tea.
I was doing some gardening today before the rain hits tomorrow. I deadheaded the roses but it seemed a shame to put them in the compost before taking a photo of them. Since they are fading away anyway I decided on a faded vintage edit with a couple of textures (my own).
I used my nifty fifty as a change from all things Lensbaby.
Since I started working on food photography yesterday I just decided to continue on that path. I keep getting distracted from my original goals with photography which was to work on family recipes. The past few years I've been finding it difficult to concentrate and stay focused on reading and projects but I feel like I am back. I need to work on styling but baby steps, you know...
"Smile on Saturday" theme: Presented on a plate.
It doesn't really feel like Spring outside today so I wanted to create of little of the feeling inside instead. I am finding it harder to find fresh tulips in the store now that Easter is behind us so now these might be the last of them until next year. They had become great props for me when it came to creating still lifes.
Thanks for your visit and I hope everyone is having a great Saturday!
Day 322/365:
Looking Close on Friday - Words on glass
This is one of my many vintage bottles, one of the larger bottles I have says Not to be taken so I wrote a little tag saying that. Added textures (my own).
I have good dishes I never use. I take them out here or there for photography and then put them away in their zippered up protective bags and place them back in my cupboard. I feel bad that I never use them but after today I think I might change that. The greatest joy is the present moment so celebrate and use the good dishes!
Crazy Tuesday theme: Tableware
Thanks for your visit! Happy Crazy Tuesday.
Day 118/365:
April 2022: A month in 30 pictures
Once again desperately trying to find something for a photo and I remembered these recycled sari silk ribbons I bought a few years ago...I loved the vibrant colours and was going to do something amazing with them, no doubt ;) Perhaps I'll get round to doing something other than photography with them now...watch this space...maybe.
Day 359/365:
Definitely Dreaming - Favourite things - chocolate, especially Lindor truffles
We had a very busy but wonderful family Christmas day. This backdrop is one of my presents and the chocolates were another.
I checked out The Indian Cooking Course cookbook from the library images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/5169uuCD2AL._SX4... because of the image of the front cover. I decided to use it as inspiration to create my chili layout. It's the perfect sort of day to use the slow cooker and get things done while dinner simmers away.
Any critiques are always welcome and appreciated. I think my silverware needed to be duller so it didn't pick up the light so much.
Day 73/365:
What a surprise, another flat lay. It's the easy option for me (as long as I can find things that I get inspired by or I think will go together). My dying tulips were crying out to be photographed...can't you just hear them? I haven't used this heart for a while either.
I guess it had to happen sooner or later, my husband and I both tested positive for Covid today. Fairly mild symptoms, a cough and slight fever and aches. Keeping our fingers crossed that this is as bad as it gets.
Happy Pi Day, I couldn't be bothered to bake a pie for the MM theme.

8/30: April 2021: A month in 30 pictures
I took my Easter wreath down today and realised I hadn't taken an Easter style photo...better late than never.
I went to a lot of trouble coordinating the colours and then gave it a vintage mono look which I preferred
Day 79/365:
Another simple flat lay today because I wanted to get another use from the mascara I picked the other day.
11/30: April 2019: A month in 30 pictures
A bit thrown together as I was a bit desperate and short of time today...now got to clear up all these tiny bits of lavender that I thought would be a good idea to sprinkle around! I bought the little bucket at the Ideal Home show last week and have been wanting to use it.
Just realised I did the original shades of grey for the October challenge.
Here is a link to my 'shades of' Album:
The book is "Redoute's Flowers." Redoute (1759-1840) was known as 'the Raphael of the flowers.' He painted several thousand botanical illustrations during his lifetime.

It is raining and windy today. I got soaked walking my dog this morning which led me to needing to warm up and get cozy once I got back home. It won't last long as we are heading out again later to visit with my father in law and have supper with him. He sold his house over a year ago and is living in an apartment attached to a long term care home. He has settled in well and has a PSW check in on him twice a day. He also gets his hot supper delivered to him daily during the week but on the weekends his kids come and visit with him and bring him supper. I am lucky that he isn't picky and has a good appetite and always enjoys everything that I make him. I also make sure I bring a dessert which the other kids don't do which is too bad since he likes it so much. He is turning 84 years young and has the biggest sweet tooth. He is a funny guy too - every time he is eating the dessert he always says to me "Mmmm, it's sweet - just like you!" :D
Thanks for your visit. I hope everyone is having a great day!
22/431: October 2019: A month in 31 pictures
This is literally thrown together as I had so little time to spare today.
I very much appreciated your comments and faves but please don't feel the need as I am struggling to reciprocate just now and feeling very guilty about it. In fact I received a message telling me that I should respond to comments or people may think I wasn't a nice person! I am struggling to get a photo each day but am trying to stay in the game. I will have more time in the near future...hopefully!
I picked these dried flowers up at a craft show recently. I thought they'd be perfect for a flat lay. I do love a bit of pink.
Day 221/365:
Title from the hymn sheet. Hymn 674 Sum Frieden, which according to Google translate means To Peace.
April 2023: A month in 30 pictures
The tulips again. A busy afternoon looking after our gorgeous baby granddaughter so a rush job before the light went and it starts to rain. I think these tulips are going to feature a lot, even when they start to fade...especially when they start to fade! ;)

#74 - 100 x challenge - Lensbaby
I took this one last month and haven't used it before as I'm not sure it really works or tells a story...I just wanted to use my new French (vintage) binoculars. However, having made good headway with my 100, I feel I am now falling behind so that's a good enough reason to add this one.
Lensbaby Velvet 56
I'm getting withdrawal symptoms as I haven't had time topic my camera up for a while. A few days ago I accidentally pulled up the poppy on the left, while weeding. It was a beautiful frilly flower and I really wanted to take a photo of it. It was gradually wilting but I didn't mind as I thought it would still look good. As soon as I picked it up it fell apart so I picked another couple of poppies to go with it...each poppy in a worse state of decay.

Life is like a cup of tea...it's all in how you make it
Another tea related flatlay but it's been a busy day and I couldn't think of anything else to take a photo of.
I was inspired by the Disney movie "Up" to make this button art as my entry for the Smile on Saturday group theme: Funny art. :)
Thank you very much for your visit! HSoS!
For the "Looking close... on Friday!" theme: Napkin
Getting into the festive spirit. Too bad I didn't have any green napkins....lol 🎄
Thanks for your visit! Happy Friday!

I didn't have time to participate in Macro Monday theme of Knolling this week so thought I would have a go at it now. Knolling is the process of arranging similar objects in parallel or at 90 degree angles as a method of organisation.
Andrew Kromelow, a janitor at a furniture store, was the first person to knoll. When he had finished work for the day he used to find any tools that had been left out and arrange them on a flat surface so they were at right angles to one another as it reminded him of the angles in Knoll furniture.
