“I try to construct a picture in which shapes, spaces, colors, form a set of unique relationships, independent of any subject matter. At the same time, I try to capture and translate the excitement and emotion aroused in me by the impact with the original idea.”

Day 63/365:
Another flat lay today. Lensbaby Velvet 56...because it happened to be on the camera.

There are already some flowers in the garden; snowdrops, crocusses, tiny roses, bergnia, helleborus, vinca, cytisus, winter jasmine and primula, but just very few.

Smile on Saturday: Begins with S - Star fish and seeds.
The seeds are collected from marigolds in my garden.
I am quite cross with myself as once I realised I had placed the front starfish upside down, the light was gone. So instead of the beautiful textures we have a smoother surface. In defence of my silly mistake, I have been very busy and I had my flu jab this morning. Keeping my fingers crossed for no symptoms, so far just a sore arm.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

My new protoboards arrived today. Thanks to Barbara www.flickr.com/photos/62660212@N03/ for the heads up about the company. I'm really pleased and had to use one straight away. Still coming to terms with still life and flat lays with the iPhone. In some ways it's easier (camera weight and manoeuvrability aside) but I don't feel I have quite so much control. Certainly much less faffing and no bending...I really need easy just now.
……A turn to ’Tabletop photography’ today for my iPhoneaday 365 shot #036. Shot on my phone in Apple RAW & edited in Lightroom. Press Z or 'Pinch Out' to pixel peep. This still life is ‘flat lay’ in natural light (plus a white card on the right) on a black backdrop with Blutac to hold the 1½” cream pots in place - and all for Smile on Saturday which this week has for its theme ‘two same’. No cream (or Milk) was spilt in the taking of this shot. HS😊S, Alan:-)

Today I had a nice lunch out with my parents and my daughter - she wanted to say goodbye to her grandparents before she heads back to Kingston for second semester. It has been raining all afternoon and I felt chilled after we got back home so I thought a hot cup of tea was in order.
Thanks for your visit. I hope everyone has had a good day. :)
Day 310/365:
Another quick flat lay today.
Apologies for not being very active again but after doing pretty well with recovery my back has taken a turn for the worse again. It's hard to sit at the computer for long.
I really appreciate your comments but please don't feel obliged while I can't reciprocate too much just now. I hate to post and run but having got this far I'm just trying to stay in the game. My osteopath assures me that each relapse should have a quicker recovery time so fingers crossed.
18-135 mm 1:1.8 - wouldn't that be wonderful ??
( although it says 1:1:8, LOL )
Crazy Tuesday - theme of September 1, 2020: Circles
I was really uninspired this time - hence no exuberant bokeh bubbles or similar, but a very simple 'flatlay' ; ))
This is part of a really cute (big) metal box I got from my sister for my birthday last year. It depicts a camera (main box) with a lens that protrudes from the box and which can also be opened.
HaPpY CrAzY Tuesday, everyone
Day 106/365:
April 2022: A month in 30 pictures
I'm finding it increasingly hard to come up with ideas, life is busy and I am struggling to keep up with the 365. I'm not sure I will make it to the end, I have some serious thinking to do.
This started with the photography book, I then added the camera and negatives, then I remembered I had some old family photos I could use, including one of my father in his army uniform.
I was doing some gardening today before the rain hits tomorrow. I deadheaded the roses but it seemed a shame to put them in the compost before taking a photo of them. Since they are fading away anyway I decided on a faded vintage edit with a couple of textures (my own).
I used my nifty fifty as a change from all things Lensbaby.
Day 234/365:
I would love to have participated in Macro Monday this week. As the theme is Star as a tribute to Hans Holt, one of the administrators who has passed away.
Unfortunately because of my back problem I'm unable to use my big camera with macro lens. So another spotlight iPhone shot as my tribute to him. RIP Hans and HMM to all.
The cake inspired me for the photo because my husband and I have been very happy to eat it ... hahahaha ... Actually life is like cake ... when you have it you have to take advantage of it and enjoy it, sometimes there is and others are not.
La torta me inspiro para la foto por que a mi esposo y a mi nos ha echo muy feliz comerla ... jajajaja ... En realidad la vida es como la torta .... cuando la tienes hay que aprovechar y disfrutarla, aveces la hay y otras no.

Sacher Torta.... Yummi Dessert
Well, hello there. I've been a very poor Flickrite lately. I'm trying to get back into the habit of taking photos but I'm a bit out of touch.
Just to give an update: My back is improving, at last, it's been eight months so I am very relieved to be making some progress. I now know what the problem is and I'm on the right medication which should help in the long term. Just as I was getting on my feet (so to speak) I went down with a horrible (non Covid) virus which I am now getting over.
I won't be able to catch up with all your images that I have missed but will start afresh and hope to view and comment over the weekend. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
Lensbaby Trio 28, Sweet setting with Omni Swiss Cheese filter and macro filter. Double exposure, second exposure using the Omni.
The letter is to my father from his brother during WWII.
Day 362/365:
I realise I should have put a 3 instead of a 2 but I didn't think of the title until it was too late but it is most definitely the countdown to the end of the 365. If not my last then certainly the last for a while. I think my son and daughter-in-law would prefer me not to do another one as the last one I did was the year my grandson was born and this year my granddaughter was born...there seems to be a pattern here and I think their family is complete now. ;)
Lensbaby Trio 28 with Velvet setting. Late in the day as I'm still trying to shake this wretched bug off. So fairly low, artificial light.
Today I made some granola. It isn't my first time making granola but it is my first time making apple and cinnamon granola. The house smelled so good when it was baking. :)
Shared to the "Smile on Saturday" group theme: Begins with G.
Thanks very much for your visit!
#FLAT LAY
Broken windows and empty hallways
A pale dead moon in the sky streaked with gray
Human kindness is overflowing
And I think it's going to rain today
Scarecrows dressed in the latest styles
With frozen smiles to chase love away
Human kindness is overflowing
And I think it's going to rain today
Lonely, lonely
Tin can at my feet
Think I'll kick it down the street
That's the way to treat a friend
Bright before me the signs implore me
To help the needy and show them the way
Human kindness is overflowing
And I think it's going to rain today

Day 235/365:
Definitely Dreaming - Vegetables
iPhone spotlight image...again. I did warn that there could be quite a few of these. It's the easiest thing to do at the moment.
Thank you all for your good wishes. I have at last been prescribed something that is going some way to easing the pain with hopefully no ill effects.
Still a way to go before picking up the big camera though. I have been spoiled with the iPhone.
Happy New Year everyone!
I told myself not too long ago that I would never do another 365 (this will be my 4th) and then a few days ago, perhaps against my better judgement, I thought that maybe I would give it a try and if I did, I promised myself there would be absolutely no pressure and just do what I can. If I can't finish it, then that is ok. I already know I will not be posting daily and will be needing to play catch up - look at me already, one day behind in posting - haha! The rules of the project allows this and I am grateful. Life gets busy and I think we all need to go easier on ourselves. I do really enjoy taking and editing photos and the commitment of doing a 365 will push me to keep up with a pastime I enjoy. I plan on working with both my Nikon and my cell phone to take my photos. I enjoy doing macros, still life and flat lay photography so those will be mostly what I will be shooting.
So here I go, saying hello to 2023 and taking it one day at a time.
Day 118/365:
April 2022: A month in 30 pictures
Once again desperately trying to find something for a photo and I remembered these recycled sari silk ribbons I bought a few years ago...I loved the vibrant colours and was going to do something amazing with them, no doubt ;) Perhaps I'll get round to doing something other than photography with them now...watch this space...maybe.
A dash of brandy in my hot coffee helped warm me up as I raked the leaves.....
Have a fabulous day...
Debbie ~ KissThePixel 2021
Another one using my hydrangea. Not altogether happy with the spoon handle going in the same direction as the hydrangea stem but didn't really notice it properly until after editing. I may try a slightly different composition another time.
It's almost the weekend so wishing you all a good one. Wee are going away to Norfolk for a few days, internet connection can be sketchy there but I will try to stop by.
Day 153/365:
This is one of the peonies from my early birthday bouquet. They have been really beautiful but have now started to lose their petals. I felt it looked a little more interesting with the vintage edit
For this week's "Smile on Saturday" group theme: Here is the H... (A picture of something - person, animal, plant, object - that begins with the letter H).
Thank you for visiting...have a wonderful day!

100/100: 100 x challenge - Flowers
100 Flowers 2020
I hope I haven't offended anyone with the title but it really made me chuckle when I saw it. I think laughter is something we all need as this year draws to a close.
These beautiful flowers were sent to me by my son and daughter-in-law to cheer me up after a tough week...it really helped.
Thank you all for your friendship, comments and faves throughout this particularly trying year.
I wish you all health, happiness, love, inspiration and creativity in the coming year.
We pulled down the garden over the past few days and now have an abundance of fresh tomatoes. Yesterday I pickled a dozen pints of green tomatoes and froze 5 dozen red ripe tomatoes. We have cherry tomatoes in various stages of ripeness that I played with today. I set out a myriad of layouts trying to get better at flatlays but none of them really worked out so I settled on this simple layout that was supposed to resemble a traffic light. We stay home some much that it feels somewhat foreign to drive anywhere. I hope you are all staying safe and managing the stress of life.
