April 2023: A month in 30 pictures
I bought these tulips a few days ago with a view to taking a photo but didn't get around to it until today. I'm hoping to get some more mileage from them.

Day 41/365:
A mix of pressed poinsettia and acer leaves. This wasn't my original idea but I changed my mind while setting it up.
The book which I got from an antique book store, was printed in 1933 but the annotations were added in 1939 for the Northern higher certificate of education. What a worrying time that must have been for its owner. Studying for an exam as WWII broke out.
I have no idea why I added the other bits but needed something to fill the space. The scissors are my first ever pair of hairdressing scissors, I daren't tell you how old they are but they are definitely vintage!
I added a few textures (my own)
I am stating some of my intentions for the year, starting with reading actual books and not just listening to audiobooks. Another goal is to clean out the boxes, jars, vases, and bottles of dried flowers and leaves that I have kept over the years. They have all degraded so that it's time to let them go. My inspiration for this image was found on Instagram www.instagram.com/p/CT-JIAMs5bC/. Hello 2022 - let's do this thing!
Day 347/365:
We went to our grandson's first ever school concert this afternoon. On returning home I noticed this rose covered in ice. I took a few images, and blended one of the rose on its own with one of it across one of my decorative hearts. Then added a couple of textures (my own).
Looking Close on Friday...Jam
I'm trying to find my mojo and wondered if it was lurking in the bottom of a jam jar. Sadly not but I thought I'd have a go at this theme anyway. Some raspberry jam with a sprinkling of dried rose petals to add a little interest to a less is more shot. HLCoF

'Flat Lay' on a flat tray.
Oven chips, and I enjoy a few really well done ones.
Smile on Saturday, or on any other day if it's chips.
Guess what this is, I must admit I do not know myself, and I would love to know!

Back home and in my still life comfort zone.

April 2022: A month in 30 pictures
Definitely Dreaming - Every day I...
Every day I have a coffee and every day I take a photo so combined the two.
Back later to try and catch up. I will be entertaining a four year old whirlwind this afternoon
My attempt at the "Smile on Saturday" theme "Flat lay".
Don‘t be too hard on me... this is my first try at a flat lay image and I had to cobble something together in a really short amount of time. 😅

Day 151/365:
Gloria, my much older alter ego hit seventy today...I'm so glad I'm not that old! Gloria let me join in her birthday celebrations and we had a fabulous day!
Day 304/365:
31/31: October 2022: A month in 31 pictures
An autumnal flat lay for the last day of October. Including one of my mini crocheted pumpkins. Textures added for a bit more depth.
Edit: Sorry I haven't been very active in the October group (or Flickr in general) for the last couple of weeks. Will try to catch up. Lovely to see some old faces and some new ones this year. Look forward to seeing you all next October or even the April challenge run by Jan and Julie.

21/31: October 2022: A month in 31 pictures
A quick flat lay today, using a couple of my munchkin pumpkins and some crispy autumn leaves. It may have been improved by another orange pumpkin at the back but I only have one that size.
Today was a beautiful, sunny day spent with family celebrating Easter. I hope you all had a great day!
Day 37/365:
I bought this card years ago on a trip to the US, intending to frame it but never got round to it. I think I've found the perfect frame for it now but it didn't fit with the photo. Thought it was about time I used it as a prop.
April 2023: A month in 30 pictures
I had planned to make a spring image today but ran out of time so grabbed a couple of dead flowers and some vintage stuff to continue the theme from yesterday.

85/100: 100 x challenge - Flowers
100 Flowers 2020
The petals are falling off my chrysanthemums so I thought I'd incorporate them in this autumn flat lay.

These roses were starting to fade so I picked them to take a few photos.

Day 306/365:
Guess who left it to the last minute to get a photo. Luckily the new backdrops are kind of star of the show so I grabbed a few bits and kept it simple.
back to the 70's / 80's: this is a black elastic belt with interlocking buckles ornated with enamel ... found at my mum's ... and I might have worn this belt, too, in my teens : ))
Crazy Tuesday - theme of November 2, 2021: Belt and Buckle
Really struggled with the theme this time ... but I think this buckle might just be crazy enough for

Day 310/365:
Another quick flat lay today.
Apologies for not being very active again but after doing pretty well with recovery my back has taken a turn for the worse again. It's hard to sit at the computer for long.
I really appreciate your comments but please don't feel obliged while I can't reciprocate too much just now. I hate to post and run but having got this far I'm just trying to stay in the game. My osteopath assures me that each relapse should have a quicker recovery time so fingers crossed.
There are already some flowers in the garden; snowdrops, crocusses, tiny roses, bergnia, helleborus, vinca, cytisus, winter jasmine and primula, but just very few.

“Life is like macarons… it’s always full of colour.” – anonymous.
The theme for "Smile on Saturday" for the 12th of July is "from right above". The subject of your picture is not important; it can be people, animals, plants, objects... even a part of a village, city, forest, anything really. Now a few months ago, I was inspired to buy some very colourful macarons, and I decided to try photographing them in different ways. For one photograph I laid down some delicate laser cut paper doilies flowers and snowflake patterns that I had been given by a dear friend on a black backing board. I then placed four of the macarons on top of four of either the doily or snowflake shapes. They made such a nice and vibrant contrast that I was very taken by the idea. Of course, this seemingly simple picture took ages, and many unsuccessful attempts, to perfect, as being directly overhead, the macarons were not quite in the centre and had to be adjusted by millimetres. Eventually I succeeded, and this was the result! I do hope that you like my choice for this week’s theme, and that it makes you smile!
1/31: October, a month in 31 pictures
The years are going by far too quickly, October already!
I thought I'd start with a flat lay featuring a tag I made and my newly acquired vintage secateurs. I recently bought a few vintage props so I expect most of them will feature at some time during the month.
I am having to post and run as I am off to pick my grandson up from preschool shortly. He will stay for dinner so I will be back later to catch up...if I can stay awake ;)
Looking forward to seeing some old faces and new.
for: Looking Close on Friday: dried plants
in my flatlay l to r clockwise:
cinnamon stick
curry leaves
star anise
cardamom pods
juniper berries
crushed chillies
Happy Looking Close on Friday!
Happy cooking!

Smile on Saturday: Begins with S - Star fish and seeds.
The seeds are collected from marigolds in my garden.
I am quite cross with myself as once I realised I had placed the front starfish upside down, the light was gone. So instead of the beautiful textures we have a smoother surface. In defence of my silly mistake, I have been very busy and I had my flu jab this morning. Keeping my fingers crossed for no symptoms, so far just a sore arm.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
