These were scrambled into omelettes for tonight's supper. Eggs are not just for breakfast at my house. Sometimes we have so many eggs that I like to use them up by having omelettes for supper. I will usually cook up some homestyle potatoes to go along with them and fry some bacon. Yum!

The idea for this Christmas inspired flat lay came to mind as I was emptying the dishwasher - haha! I like doing flat lay photography and Christmas is my most favourite season for photo inspiration. I am letting the creativity flow when I can.

Ich fand diesen alten, trockenen Zweig, der vom Wind abgebrochen war, und suchte nach etwas, das ich damit kombinieren könnte. Schließlich kam mir die Idee, als Kontrast dazu ein paar junge, grüne Blätter hinzuzufügen.

I found this old, dry branch, broken off by the wind and looked for something to combine it with. Finally I had the idea to add some young, green leaves as a contrast.

Things I don't wear, although I love them dearly.

These necklaces need to be worn by tall graceful women and I am certainly neither of these.

The wooden one I bought myself (for some reason I don't know now), the green one was a present from a departing friend and the white and black one was made for me by a women I briefly worked with. She was Maasai and I felt so honoured that she gave me this wonderful necklace. She said it was her hobby to make these, being so far away from home.

Evidence of a probable cat and dove encounter. A pair of doves were in the habit of stealing the cat's food from a table outside. Apparently one of them did not sufficiently scout out the area for hazards before landing. I saw no dead bird, but there is only one dove hanging out in the nearby tree where there used to be two, so I suspect the bird did not survive.

BDCC monthly challenge - New ~ New book for the new year.

Well, it's a new to me book. An Ebay bargain. A few years ago I did an introductory course in modern calligraphy and decided that this year I would take it up again so thought this book might help with the practise. I don't know where i am going to find the time but it seemed like a good idea and if nothing else it has served as a photo prop ;)

Queen Anne's Lace

I'm so excited for the boards I've used for my surface. Over the summer my neighbors replaced their fence and let me have a section of the aged and weathered boards. When my husband and I cleaned up the yard a couple of weeks ago he cut them down for me, yay! Still practicing food, I want this to feel a bit looser but haven't been able to master the effortless look so I keep trying. Fun day planned, enjoy your weekend.

After a long winter, Spring has finally arrived!

I am glad I picked these crocuses yesterday and brought them into the house. I saw that today would be calling for snow so I planned ahead for today's photo knowing that these little pretties would be cold and all closed up until the nice weather returns.

This starts my 100 project this year. I've been thinking about my theme for a while and have chosen flowers. It will be a mix of artificial, shop bought, from the garden or those seen when out and about. This should help me create something which fits my theme in any weather.

So providing there's a flower somewhere in the photo it will be going in this project

310/365: A bit of desperation here as the light was fading fast. My enthusiasm for the 365 is waning or my mojo is going...or maybe both. Either way I am struggling at the moment.

Hi everyone!

I said I'd be back sometime in the New Year and here I am with also the beginnings of a new 365 photo a day project. :) I tossed the idea back and forth in my head for the past few weeks and today I decided for sure, why not? This past year I hardly took any photos and I missed it very much and also all of you and the friendship and support you so generously offer. So here is my first photo of my 365 for 2025.

A vintage still life for today's offering.

Dried hydrangea from my garden. Vintage postcard from my late mother-in-law's collection. The paper underneath is a letter to my father from his brother, during WWII. The scrap of paper on top was in my father's soldier's release book. Looking at these papers saddens me so much as that was meant to be the war to end all wars.
