346/365: With less than twenty days to go in the 365, I think it's getting harder to come up with ideas...even in the festive season. I will miss it as it does become a way of life but will not be doing a 365 next year to try to regain my sanity...now where's the fun in that?
Lately I have been buying bouquets of sunflowers when I am at the store, just like in the spring when I found myself picking up bouquets of tulips almost week after week. :D They come in handy for photos and props. ;-) I didn't like the choice of background I used for this flatlay which was a rusty orange so I tried making it more interesting with adding a texture. While searching for free textures to use one can become a little overwhelmed as there are soooo many choices...oh my goodness which to chose?? Anyways I found a few I liked. Also, this gave me some practice as I do want to try improving my editing skills with textures.
The texture I used was from Kerstin Frank here on Flickr.
Thanks for your visit! Have a great weekend!
A Christmas themed flatlay for my 365 photo for today.
Thanks for your visit! I hope you had a wonderful day.
I was surprised about the choice I had for my Macro Mondays picture.

Zelfs ver van huis genoeg om uit te kiezen voor mijn Macro Mondays foto.
56/365: A pretty unoriginal title but not much time for photography let alone thinking of titles. Although things are busy they are also pretty wonderful while we get to know our amazing new little person. So another post and run I'm afraid...I will get back when I am able.
Day 205/365:
A lot of our roses are dying because of the heat. I snipped a few half dead one for this photo.
Lensbaby Velvet 56...because it was still on my camera.
Once again I must apologise for the lack of comments. Our internet keeps going down.
Had my girlie up with me this morning so we collaborated on creating this message of love to share with the world.

April 2023: A month in 30 pictures
Well, I'm attempting the April challenge in the hope that my back and mojo allow it.
A simple flat lay for day one...what a surprise ;)

Autumn days have arrived and the beautiful fall colours are everywhere.
Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

Day 152/365:
Same old, same old here I'm afraid. Still making the most of my flowers with no other ideas springing to mind.
I loove the smell of star anise. I bought some to make a stovetop potpourri which I haven't gotten around to making yet; as you can see I am too busy assembling a flatlay and photographing it. 😉
Happy Sunday to you all - thank you for your visit.
356/365: I had a very busy but productive day yesterday...wrapping presents, making Christmas pudding ice cream, mince pies and Christmas puddini bonbons...a Nigella recipe...they don't look as good as hers and I had to change the recipe to suit the ingredients I had, but by golly they taste good. Help yourself to one but be warned they do contain alcohol (and nuts).
Decided that after a few busy days I would keep photography low-stress and simple for today, and nothing fits that better than a coffee flat lay for me.
Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

Compositionally Challenged Week 46 - Flat Lay & Knolling
Ice cubes placed on top of smooth white acrylic sprayed with water, with blue fairy lights underneath. In post I desaturated to give this more of an icy look.
Day 80/365:
I've been having a bit of a spring clean. Yesterday I came across these little pots in my prop stash. Not sure I've used them before. Today cleaning out my kitchen cupboards I found some out of date spices and started to put them in the food waste but pulled myself up sharply...not before you take a photo! The little vintage pots along with my collection of vintage mustard spoons were the perfect accompaniment to the spices.
No inspiration for MM today.
October 2023: A month in 31 pictures
Back from a few days away so also back in my still life/ flat lay comfort zone.
I looked out into the garden and noticed the sedum had turned to this lovely autumnal russet red. I instantly saw it as a flat lay opportunity. The little tag is one I made.

I just wasn't feeling it today so was struggling to come up with something. I finally settled on this photo of the book we are reading at my book group. It was my suggestion on a recommendation from my daughter-in-law. I haven't started reading it yet but I'm hoping it will be good.
I baked an apple pie today. I use to prefer baking cakes but lately my preference has turned towards pies. I am still learning how to perfect the art of pastry.
I used my wooden cutting board as the backdrop for this flatlay to play along with the Flickr Friday theme for the week - "Board".
Thanks very much for your visit! :)
I had my sewing kit out today to do a little mending and in there I have these little antique scissors.
I was feeling a bit stuck creatively this morning but saw the blank music notebook and my dried sunflowers and had a lightbulb moment. This may just be the first in a series of items on the staff paper, excited for a new direction and some fresh ideas.
The background is a vellum indenture from 1794 (200+ years of creasing is tricky to deal with). Kept to a minimal colour palette with just a couple of main colours — red and silver, with a few accent colours.

I had seen some flat lay photography that had this dark, rich feel to it, and I thought I'd try my hand. Strangely satisfying...

The theme for “Smile on Saturday” for the 14th of August is “flat lay”, where a photo is taken of objects arranged on a flat surface, captured from directly above. I’ve never done a great deal of this type of photography before, so it was a great challenge for me. I settled upon photographing a selection of my Playmobil princesses because their skirts, which come in two halves, help them to lie flat, as does their body design. The difficulty really lay (pardon the pun) in whom would I pick, as there are so many varying colours and designs. I’ve tried to pick a range to show the variations available in the different Playmobil characters available. Whilst I did deliberately give them all blonde hair to stand out against the black background, as you can see, not all princesses wear pink. I hope that this flat lay catches your eye, and makes you smile!
Playmobil is a line of toys produced by the Brandstätter Group, headquartered in Zirndorf, Germany. Production began in 1974. Playmobil began to be sold worldwide in 1975, and by 2009, approximately 2.2 billion Playmobil figures had been sold. The signature Playmobil toy is a 7.5 cm tall human figure with a particular smiling face. A wide range of accessories, buildings and vehicles, as well as many sorts of animals, are also part of the Playmobil line. Playmobil toys are produced in themed series of sets as well as individual special figures and playsets. New products and product lines developed by a 50-strong development team are introduced frequently, and older sets are discontinued. Promotional and one-off products are sometimes produced in very limited quantities. These practices have helped give rise to a sizeable community of collectors.
