A walk through Paris with the sole purpose of flashing the reactivated space invader in the Rue de Tolbiac; PA_876...
Location: Rue de Tolbiac, Paris 13ème
Coordinates: 48°82'64"N 2°36'37" E
Reason: I had a nice walk with a friend living near Marne-la-Vallée who doesn't want his picture on the media through Paris. I decided to take him to this part of Paris and realized that PA_876 was also missing from my online game FlashInvaders. Another 30 points on the counter and a nice walk through the neighbourhood of Peupliers and Butte aux Cailles. It ended with a nice dinner on Place d'Italie.
Rue de Tolbiac: A 2 715 meters long street in the 13ème arrondissement of Paris in the quartier Maison-Blanche. This street owes its name to the battle of Tolbiac, victory won by Clovis in 496 against the Alamans. The town of Tolbiac, which today bears the name Zülpich, is located in the region of Cologne, Germany.
PA_876: The original of PA_876 was put up almost 10 years prior to this photo. Deleted somewhere in 2013 and re-activated in February 2020 before the confinement (lockdown).

Marseille has been invaded 13 times devided in 3 invasion waves and the total points in Marseille is 220 points. The first invasion wave took place in the Summer of 2004 with in total 9 space invaders (2019)

A still original space invader of 1999 on the wall of a 22 storey high residential building (Orphee Résidence) in the 15ème arrondissement of Paris. The test of time has played a part. I have a photo of 2003 (pre-Flickr time) as well of this one. I still had to "flash" this one and I was in the neighbourhood to visit re-activated PA_174. Good to see an original space invader with the age of 20 years and 8 months (7555 days to be exact) invader still active with only 5 tiles missing.

MARS_90 [50 points]
One of the two space invaders outside Cité Radieuse in the quartier Sainte-Anne. Best seen from the roof of Hotel Le Corbusier where the exposition Invasion Planete Marseille took place. Invader was invited to do a site specific installation at MaMo, the arts center created by Ora-ïto atop of La Cité Radieuse in Marseille. For the occasion, I have turned the exhibition space into an strategic base and pushed back the symbolic and physical limits of the place by carrying out an exhibition-invasion at the scale of the entire city of Marseille.
Till August 2020 I found and flashed all 13 space invaders of wave 1 (MARS_01 - MARS_11 - 2004 and wave 2 (MARS_12 and MARS_13). But during wave 3 in August 2020 the number of space invaders went up to 97. In total 84 space invaders on my list again.

Another Paris space invader I have never seen before. Thanks to the re-activator of this blue 10 points worth space invader I was able to flash my 1209th space invader in Paris (out of 1467, which makes 82.4% of all invaders in Paris).

THE INVASION OF ROTTERDAM
In the year 2001 the city of Rotterdam has been invaded by Invader. In 4 days Invader put 26 space invaders (1 hidden bonus) on the walls of Rotterdam. Sometimes hidden sometimes on very visible locations. As we speak (*January 2019) about 18 of 26 space invaders are there. Ten of them due to the work of the re-activations. Eight of them are still the original space invaders of 2001 put up by Invader.

This 50 points worth blue big space invader along the A557 became a personal milestone for FlashInvaders for me as this was my 1400th space invader flashed since I started this online game in 2015. Point of view is the pedestrian bridge next to the métro station Bougainville.

Magica De Spell is a fictional character of the Scrooge McDuck universe, an Italian sorceress created by Carl Barks. She constantly steals or attempts to steal Scrooge McDuck's Number One Dime, which she believes will play a vital role in magically obtaining the same fabulous wealth of its owner. This space invader with Magica de Spell is located in the 13ème arrondissement. The girl on the crosswalk is reading a book!

Five of the 13 space invaders in Marseille are cyclopes like this. I have never seen the original of this one in the Panier neighbourhood of Marseille. A successful re-activation which made it possible for me to flash all the 13 space invaders of Marseille.

My first space invader encountered in person in Germany and part of the invasion of Köln (Cologne) on the site of ESA’s astronaut centre ...
Location: ESA’s astronaut centre near Cologne (Germany) in the community called Wahn.
Coordinates: 50°51'8" N 7°7'53" E
Reason: A visit to three of the space invaders on the site of ESA in Köln which are normally hidden away from the public. A visit was organized by V ("JOETHECRAB" on FlashInvaders) and about 20 of space invader fans from France, Belgium and the Netherlands (including yours truly) travelled to Germany to see, capture and flashinvader the three space invaders on the strictly guarded and normalitarian inaccessible terrain of ESA.
Invasion of Cologne: As we speak (April 2017) the city of Cologne (including the ones on the ESA site) counts 27 space invaders, invaded in 3 waves and in total 670 points. The first waves took place in the year 2007 and the last wave was in 2015 and contains the 3 space invaders on the site of ESA (in total 250 points on the ESA site).

On my way to Paris on this day I discovered on the site of Invader that three new space invaders were installed overnight. Due to the 'live' function I found out that one of the three was installed here at one of the by tourists most visited squares in Montmartre. In the year 2010 PA_856 came first and still visible and good condition. PA_1276 is totally adapted to the environment. "NICE SHOT" tells the online game FlashInvaders when flashing this one.

THE INVASION OF ROTTERDAM
In the year 2001 the city of Rotterdam has been invaded by Invader. It was the 8th city in the world being invaded. In 4 days Invader put 26 space invaders (1 hidden bonus) on the walls of Rotterdam. Sometimes hidden sometimes on very visible locations. In June 2020 three space invaders were re-activated (RTD_01, 18, 22) which made it possible to have flashed almost all 26 space invaders of Rotterdam. Except for the hidden RTD_26 which will never be re-activated because it was located on a wall near the Centraal Station. The area is redevelopped and the wall isn't there anymore.

MARS_20 [50 points]
This 50 points worth blue big space invader along the A557 became a personal milestone for FlashInvaders for me as this was my 1400th space invader flashed since I started this online game in 2015.
Till August 2020 I found and flashed all 13 space invaders of wave 1 (MARS_01 - MARS_11 - 2004 and wave 2 (MARS_12 and MARS_13). But during wave 3 in August 2020 the number of space invaders went up to 97. In total 84 space invaders on my list again.

A big 'runner' in 2014 FlashInvader Summer colors on the corner next to the harbour of La Ciotat. Not in full sunlight when I got here in the late afternoon so I had to come back for this one the next day.

PA_233 [10 points]
A still original space invader of 1999 on the wall of a 22 storey high residential building (Orphee Résidence) in the 15ème arrondissement of Paris. The test of time has played a part. I have a photo of 2003 (pre-Flickr time) as well of this one. I still had to "flash" this one and I was in the neighbourhood to visit re-activated PA_174. Good to see an original space invader with the age of 20 years and 8 months (7555 days to be exact) invader still active with only 5 tiles missing.

A huge black and white space invader was put up on the wall in the quartie Saint-Victor in the 5ème arrondissement of Paris. One of the three on one day/night: PA_1550, PA_1551 and PA_1552.

PA_1207 [50 points]
A yellow lightning flash appeared at the end of June on this corner of the 10ème arrondissement in Paris right above a bar with the matching name Le Flash. Hard to capture in full sunlight, just a few minutes on a Summer morning if you are lucky.
And this all with a wink to the application game FlashInvaders of course!

The re-activations in Paris are going very fast and it seems most of the space invaders are coming back sooner or later. This 10 pointer in the 4ème arrondissement came back as well and was part of my quick morning FlashInvader tour.
