A new space invader featuring Cost. Cost is the tag name of a graffiti writer who, from the early 1980s to the mid-1990s, blanketed New York City and the surrounding metropolitan area with his wheatpaste stickers, spray paint tags and paint-roller pieces. Cost, whose real name is Adam Cole, is perhaps most widely known for his collaboration with another New York graffiti artist, Revs.
I saw this new space invader from the métro and got off immediately to take some shots of this one. I was lucky with the fact that this one was in full sunlight.

INVASION OF VERSAILLES
After two massive invasions at the beginning of the 2017 with Rabat in Morocco and Malaga in Spain and not to forget Forcalquier in France, Invader decided a royal invasion in the land of Louis XIV, in VERSAILLES!
On the 07/06/2017 Invader put up the first invader in Versailles, followed on 13/06/2017 by three others. The first two waves were installed when I visited Versailles. Not realizing that the work was not done at all. After I left Versailles at the last day of my holiday road trip Invader came back 6 times and as we speak (*November 2017) the royal city of Versailles has 19 space invader pieces installed over 8 waves with a total points of 580.

A framed space invader of the past century has been re-activated for the current century by the re-activation team. It was my #1050 space invader flashed but I am not in the top-100 of FlashInvaders anymore. Never seen the original of PA_64.
I like evening shots but the orange colored street lights are not the best way to capture space invaders. The street lighting in the French capital is being converted to white LED lighting which is very welcome for photographers.

MARS_30 [30 points]
The colors of Marseille on the Square Stalingrad on the corner of the Allée Léon Gambetta. The first space invader I encountered on this Sunday on which I encountered in total 30 space invaders in the Marseille metropolitan area.
Till August 2020 I found and flashed all 13 space invaders of wave 1 (MARS_01 - MARS_11 - 2004 and wave 2 (MARS_12 and MARS_13). But during wave 3 in August 2020 the number of space invaders went up to 97. In total 84 space invaders on my list again.

KLN_26 [100 points]
Together with about 30 other space invader fans I visited the three of the space invaders on the site of ESA in Köln which are normally hidden away from the public. A visit was organized by V ("JOETHECRAB" on FlashInvaders) and about 20 of space invader fans from France, Belgium and the Netherlands (including yours truly) travelled to Germany to see, capture and flashinvader the three space invaders on the strictly guarded and normalitarian inaccessible terrain of ESA.
As we speak (June 2017) the city of Cologne (including the ones on the ESA site) counts 27 space invaders, invaded in 3 waves and in total 670 points. The first waves took place in the year 2007 and the last wave was in 2015 and contains the 3 space invaders on the site of ESA (in total 250 points on the ESA site).

THE INVASION OF CLERMONT-FERRAND
The first (two?) invasion wave(s) of the center of Clermont-Ferrand occured in the year 2000 and consisted 8 space invaders, 4 of them are still there (including 1 re-activation) and flashable.
In January 2016 Clermont-Ferrand was invaded again, the 3rd invasion wave took place:

A classic sized and shaped space invader of the first generation in the 3ème arrondissement of Paris. Never seen this one before. Thanks to the re-activeurs it is visible, capturable and flashable again.
Always nice to meet fellow space invader hunters at the spot where a new or fresh re-activated space invader is located. The gilets jaunes are everywhere. At the time I met this woman on her bicycle flashing numer 25 the yellow vests were just for your own road safety.
PA_25 is surrounded by nice street art (among other by ENDANGERED ACTIVISM).

CAZ_08 [30 points]
The lovely hill-built medieval village Saint-Paul-de-Vence has been invaded as well as part of Invader's project of 2007 "Invasion of the Côte d'Azur". For me the third space invader I found, captured and flashed this holiday. FlashInvaders says "Yes!" when flashing this one. According to my information it is still the original and after 10 years still in good shape apart from 3 missing pixels (tiles). The truck was standing in my way from begin to end during my visit to Saint-Vincent-de-Paul (40 minutes).

INVASION OF THE CÔTE D’AZUR
In the year 2007 Invader has invaded the entire coast of the French Rivièra. Instead of only one city he made a project of an entire region; Côte d’Azur. Spread out from La Ciotat to the Menton near the border of Italy.
The first wave consisted of 35 space invaders spread out over 24 cities with a total score of 990 points. In 2016 Invader put one invader up in Cavalaire-sur-Mer (CAZ_36) and in 2017 wave number 3 consisted another single one (CAZ_37).
Lots of them have been deleted throughout the years but there are already are about 9 space invaders re-activated.
MARS_74 [30 points]
I had to take the bus for it, had to walk a long way and eventually it turned out that the site was closed due to a major renovation. And it was too far for the FlashInvaders application to recognize it. And the space invader was already badly damaged. The 30 points were not awarded to me.
MARS_74 sits on the wall of the Musée d'art contemporain de la Ville de Marseille (mac), closed at the moment.
Till August 2020 I found and flashed all 13 space invaders of wave 1 (MARS_01 - MARS_11 - 2004 and wave 2 (MARS_12 and MARS_13). But during wave 3 in August 2020 the number of space invaders went up to 97. In total 84 space invaders on my list again.

Due to the online smartphone application game FlashInvaders it feels like I have to revisit all still existing space invaders again. It was almost 9 years ago I visited this labyrinth space invader for the very first time (yes, time flies) but due to this game I had to revisit this one as well. I'm doing the game kind of district per district to not losing track which one I have flashed and which one not. A lot of the space invaders I have visited have been deleted, stolen or the entire building has been demolished but a lot are still there. A bit damaged or just in perfect shape.

Place Denfert-Rochereau 20/06/2018 12h19
The square is named after Pierre Denfert-Rochereau, the French commander who organized the defense at the siege of Belfort during the Franco-Prussian War (1870–1871). It is dominated by the Lion of Belfort statue (a smaller version of the original in the town of Belfort) by Frédéric Bartholdi.

The city and region of Köln counts a total of 27 space invaders divided over 3 waves. The first wave was in October 2006 and counted 3 space invaders, the second in February 2007 at the same time as the exhibition "Bad Man" in Galerie Joellenbeck. In 2015 a third wave followed in the European Astronaut Center (EAC) in ESA as part of the Space2ISS project.
I had already visited the latter on April 19, 2017 without visiting the other space invaders. I visited, flashed and photographed the others in February 2024.
My score for Cologne is: 22 of the 27 flashed, 1 could not be flashed and 4 were already deleted at the time of my visit.
